gone_cruisin Posted February 6, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2023 Is Carnival still doing the free bottle of wine on the first cruise night at the steakhouse. Also, we are cruising out of Galveston and I know they have funky alcohol rule - is that impacted by it? Its been 5 years since I've been on Carnival and I am not sure what has changed and what has stayed the same.
teknoge3k Posted February 6, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2023 Yes, you get a free bottle of house wine or 50% off any other bottle of wine the first 2 nights in the steakhouse. 4

Yes, last October I had to request it, then they poured one glass each and the bottle disappeared never to be seen again.
Florings Posted February 6, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2023 In October, they poured our wine and took it off the table - to an ice bucket and kept our glasses filled until it was gone. Actually, the white they offered was a quite good sauvignon blanc - a nice change from the chardonnay of the past.

ocgirl Posted February 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2023 So they don't give you a free bottle, just serve you the wine during dinner? We have the drink package, so this wouldn't do us any good. I thought that you got a bottle to take, would be nice to have it in the room.

Rare lazydayz Posted February 18, 2023 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2023 We got a free bottle of wine on the Mardi Gras on 12/31/22. Also had the drink package so gave the bottle to our neighbors at dinner.
tidecat Posted February 18, 2023 #10 Share Posted February 18, 2023 On the Mardi Gras now. It was mentioned in Donkey's announcement that anyone who made reservations for Farenheit 555 or Rudi's Seagrill for tonight (embarkation day) would get a free bottle of wine.
pinklucky61 Posted February 18, 2023 #11 Share Posted February 18, 2023 Elsewhere someone mentioned you pay taxes on the bottle if you would normally be paying state taxes until out of certain ports. Example Galveston, NOLA and NY.

bar1068 Posted February 19, 2023 #14 Share Posted February 19, 2023 A free bottle of wine can also be had in the steakhouse if you choose to forgo the "play dress up" night as we do, and dine in the steakhouse that night. I'm not sure though if that holds true for the second dress up night as well.

Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted February 19, 2023 #17 Share Posted February 19, 2023 Yep - all ships w/Steakhouse (Rudi's too). It applies on both the first evening and the first cruise elegant evening (which is usually, but not always, the second night). Choice of either the free bottle OR 50% off a bottle from their wine menu. Tom

shari1737 Posted March 16, 2023 #20 Share Posted March 16, 2023 This may be a stupid question but do they open the free bottle the night you get it? Or can you actually drink it on another night? I am a wine drinker but my husband isn't.

Poured us each a glass and left the bottle. When we were done eating, I asked for cork for the bottle, and we took what was left in the bottle back to our room. You can absolutely take the bottle with you, or let them keep it and have it served in the MDR during the remainder of the cruise, if you wish.
