One of the biggest cruise industry events, Seatrade Cruise Global, is quickly approaching. At the event, cruise line CEOs sit side by side to discuss all things cruising. This year’s panel of esteemed CEOs includes Carnival Corporation’s President, CEO & Chief Climate Officer, Josh Weinstein.

And he wants to hear from Cruise Critic members.

Do you have a question that you’d love to ask Mr. Weinstein? Are you wondering what’s ahead for onboard dining and entertainment? Have thoughts on how Carnival Corp. can leverage technology to improve the cruise experience? Do you have questions about the cruise line’s sustainability efforts? We want to hear from you.

Share your questions below, and your question might be one asked of Mr. Weinstein at this year’s event.

I would like to know, for the health of guests and crew, why not have no smoking casinos or at least no smoking nights during a cruise?

Yes, yes, yes!  #1 Question!  Please listen, Princess!  No casino smoking!

Are there any plans to build SMALLER ships?  Please bring back the Grand Class ships with full promenades,  Alfredo's, no smoking casinos, more Fiesta Deck Window Suites, an aft theater/lounge, and all of the other wonderful aspects of that class of ship.

Please return the Grand Princess to the (West Coast) United States full time.

It’s been 5 years since the Medallion Class App (Now Princess App) was introduced to Princess cruisers.  When will it be user friendly with less errors caused by IT updates?

We are now 187 pages, just on Part 3 of Ocean Medallion Help thread on Cruise Critic. Trying to help others to navigate the App.  So much frustration for many guests.

Love the concept, but it was too quickly implemented before basic testing.

Simplify the App.

Just as a side note...I noticed that "CCAubs" has this same notification posted in almost every other line's forum here on CC.  I'm not holding my breath that *any* of these questions/concerns will really be addressed.  (No...I'm not the least bit cynical...why do you ask?)

Definitely would like to see a complete wrap-around promenade deck. These newer ships have a tiny walkable area on the promenade deck that’s a joke. A lot of us don’t like walking in the Sun for health reasons, so the walking track on the top of the ship is not for someone trying to protect their skin. Please bring back the full promenade deck.

It needs to go "no smoking ever". The casino just reeks of smoke even when empty. I am guessing they will get gamblers when smoking is banned. Those who gamble won't stop gambling and those who hate smoke can now go in. Our local casinos do fine with no smoking.

I can't believe it has been 5 years (I believe you). The app is just horrible. I spent hours with it the other day because I cancelled a cruise and then rebooked it due to price drop and it took days for me to get logged in! It kept saying my booking number was claimed. What a nightmare.

I agree.  But, I don’t know if they will ever change.  They even took away the no smoking on formal nights.  I could go there on formal night and wear a 😷 if it was no smoking.
To separate it as half no smoking, is really a joke.
This thread is not going to turn into a no smoking thread.  But, I totally agree with you!

It started in 2018, only on some ships.

It was just called OceanMedallion and very simple. The App was just in the initial stages. Then, in 2019 they really enhanced the App and it was called MedallionClass App.  It was then, that it was too quickly updated and started to get more difficult to use.   Well, once we were back in 2021…..more and more enhancements, changes and seems as though pre testing was non existent.

Many fixes have happened since 2021 after  thousands of complaints, so that’s a good thing.  Today, it is much better, but still a lot of bugs.

Now called Princess App…you know the rest.

These are just my experiences.

You have my word that we will be sharing our member questions 🙂 The multiple posts were to be sure to include fans of the full portfolio of lines for each CEO.

Can we PLEASE get a better itinerary variation out of Galveston?  I've done the math - it's possible.  So tired of the same three or four ports being offered from every line here with nearly zero variation.

I really think that Princess' niche here could be itinerary variation - offering slightly longer sailings (8-10 days) that don't only use Cozumel/Belize/Costa Maya/Roatan.  I literally have a spreadsheet that has possible itineraries that account for cruising speed/port times/etc. - Princess really needs to get better Caribbean itineraries from Galveston.

More calls to Grand Cayman, please!

Why can’t the covid protocols for enhanced voyages

be more clear and not have conflicting statements?  CruiseHealth Tool, FAQ,  the Princess App and the cruise personalizer all vary.

The TA’s, PCL Customer Service, Chat, Dept MGR’s also have varied answers.

Example CruiseHealth tool:

Testing Requirements

  • All guests ages 5 and older are required to take a medically observed COVID-19 Test.
    • PCR or medically observed Antigen COVID-19 test taken within 3 days prior to embarkation, or
    • Medically observed or self-administered antigen home test taken within 3 days before embarkation.

So, is a medically observed test required as in bold bullet 1?

Or, bullet 3, states self administered.  Does the self administered test have to be medically observed, as stated in bold bullet 1?

Please clarify if they all must be medically observed, like an emed test would be.  We have been trying to clarify this for over a month.

They need to update all material that is presented to the customers to actual policy or suggestions that are based on reality not past experiences. Many will know what I am posting.  Materials are so put of date it borders on false advertising.

@CCAubsThank you for starting this thread, but am wondering just who you are?  When I click on your account, all I see are thread starters.  Do you work for the Cruise Line Industry?  Are you a liaison for cruise ships?  How did you hear about this?  And will this be addressed to all Ship Lines?  Seems like a huge bite to addresses Cruise Critic concerns under such a huge umbrella.

Your posters have some very valid issues.  Most of it falls under "Princess is going in the wrong direction".  From Bigger is not better, to information disseminated on their web pages".

I do hope you will report back to us what was covered in this Seatrade Cruise Global event.  When is this taking place?  Will it open to the public to watch?

Thank you

I would like to know if there are plans in the works to switch over to multi-use Medallions.  It was my understanding when the Medallion Class program was being introduced that the Medallions would be reprogrammable for use on future Princess cruises, rather than the one-and-done Medallions that are currently being provided.  If not, is there any chance that collection bins could be made available after disembarkation so that they can be properly disposed of?  Thanks for your attention!

Hi there, happy to elaborate! I'm work for Cruise Critic, overseeing PR & communications (coming up on 12 years with the company!), and we're currently working with Seatrade to help field questions from real cruisers (our Cruise Critic members) for the event's State of the Industry panel. Our members have so many valuable insights, and gathering these questions is important for ensuring the consumer voice is represented in that conversation -- something that both the show and cruise lines find hugely valuable as well. While I'm not sure if it will be open to the public to watch, we will certainly be covering the State of the Industry on Cruise Critic, and will be sure to share here.

Here's a link to more info on the conference: https://www.seatradecruiseglobal.com/en/home.html

I hope that helps!
