Not sure what you are looking for.  @Tedferg has been frequent on here so presume you have come across this topic.  Like many businesses, PCL has Gift Cards (managed and sold by a third party).  They come in various denominations and can be used to pay for cruises or for on board expenses.  Sometimes you can purchase a card for less than face value.  The cards never expire.  You can find out details on Princess.com.

I had not paid attention to Gift Card comments, assuming it was the standard vehicle to make a gift to another person. Then I saw comments about discounts and clearly applying them to oneself. I did look on AARP site but did not find them. I wonder how you buy them and how you apply them. One person said PSD said you had to use up existing OBC before applying Gift Card.

I imagined using my OBC to upgrade to Plus onboard and then applying a discounted gift card to cover the excess charge.

You have to look under AARP rewards.

Then All rewards.

Yes you can use them OB, make sure to print out the cards showing number and pin.  GS will want a paper copy for their records.  Save a copy for yourself until cruise is over and you’ve used them.

More info/questions see the relevant threads AARP.  So we don’t hijack this thread.  😀

Not sure about that one.  Easy to consume OBC by opening a casino account and charge funds to on-board account.  Your on-board account can show $0 or -ve$ and you may have cash in casino account (accessed via Medallion and a PIN.  If you buy Plus upgrade on board, presumably that turns on board account to your owing money, so I don't see the issue.

Newbie to Princess and wondering if someone can confirm purchase of the upgrade/plus package using OBC?

I have $200 OBC and would like to upgrade and use that $$ - on the website I don't see an option to do this (I am about 10 days away from sailing so final payment made).

a) Do I have to call to upgrade and ask them to use my OBC?  or b) should I do this first day onboard thereby ensuring I can use the OBC?

Any guidance/advice greatly appreciated! 🙂

Your only choice is option b, onboard. OBC can only be used for excursions pre cruise.

Thanks so much - I didn't know this of course.....so will wait til I am onboard.

Is there somewhere in writing it says I can purchase 1st day onboard?  I hate to not be able to do this?  Will I have any issues?  (Caribbean Princess)....

Do I just go to Guest Services upon boarding to purchase?  Or can I do this via the medallion app or something? (once onboard?)

Should be in App or perhaps on cabin TV.  Or, go to GS if not working.

Is it just 60/80 a day on board or do they add gratuities to that price?

It already includes the gratuities, so just the flat $60 / $80😊

Yes - under FAQ:

  1. Can I purchase Princess Plus or Princess Premier when I’m on board?
Yes. Princess Plus and Princess Premier will be available to purchase on board beginning with voyages sailing 2/20/23 and beyond. You may purchase a package on the first day of your voyage.

Question - are there some bars/venues where the drink package is not 'accepted'?  or can you get drinks from anywhere?  (e.g. casino/dining room/Vines/Crooners etc).

You can get drinks from any bar, and theoretically they can also be delivered to you anywhere on the ship.
