Can you check a case of water at Pier with luggage?

Recommended Posts

My apologies if this has been answered before.  My last cruise in Fort Lauderdale, I remember seeing someone had a case of water on their big pile of luggage and now I'm wondering if they were able to get it delivered to their cabin or had to walk it in themselves?

Thanks in advance

You can bring a case of water. DH tried this once, the case of water broke open and all these bottles fell out. He took it back to the car before boarding the shuttle to the cruise terminal from our hotel. Someone on the shuttle laughed and said "the water on the ship is better quality than your case of water" and he was absolutely right. DH tried laughing it off with him but I could tell he learned a valuable lesson! The water onboard IS pure, and it tastes really good. Just don't worry about bringing the case of water because it's really not necessary!

Most locations will not take the case of water as a check-in item - you have to carry it on board.

Years ago, the porters would look the other way when simply "slapping a tag" on a bulky case of water.  Now...they won't take it.

Can you imagine the poor cabin attendants that are delivering your luggage... trying to drag around that heavy, bulky case (with no handles or wheels) to bring to your cabin?  And obviously is the reason that pax wanted it checked, instead of carry on.

The rules state 12 bottles of water, packed in your carry on...is what is allowed.

Me?  I simply go online and order/pay for a 12 pack of water to be delivered to my cabin.  Those cases are rolled down the hallway in carts as they deliver to the cabins like they do the amenities during embarkation.

Hello,

They take it in Southampton.

I saw a post a while back someone packed the carry on wine in their checked luggage obviously and it broke and dropped into the posters suitcase damaging their clothes. So I'm sure rcl doesnt want the complaints.

If you check something that is not allowed, you will get it at the end of the cruise for your drive back home.  If you want to carry all your drinks from home, which by the way, water is available on the ship, than you must carry it on.

Agree.  The onboard water is good, and I'd rather drink cold ice water from a glass rather than from a plastic bottle.

I also try to avoid single-use plastics, as the planet simply cannot afford them.

Pointing out the obvious:  If you order water to your room, the cabin attendants (and wait staff, who also deliver luggage) are the ones who deliver it to your room.  Water is heavy, and it makes no difference to the workers whether you packed it from home or whether they took it from the ship's supplies.

I am probably wrong but i thought everything had to be in cans.

think vodka in a water bottle.

I think security examines the case to see if any bottles look tampered with.  I’m sure many try this.  Many succeed I’m sure.  Many probably don’t.

Thank you to those with non-snarky answers, much appreciated.

We're a bit of a tough crowd, especially the striped speedo... if you want to be snarky back, ask him what an "extra full" bottle is because I am not so sure.

That's Princess, who started prohibiting plastic water bottles last year for that very reason.  Although their Plus program at the time was $50 (now $60) per day for drinks, wifi and gratuities, which I thought was not a bad deal.

If you put in separate bag  think Zipper cool shopping bag  tag it and send it. Worst case scenario is you lose price of case of water. Always receive with bags. We usually have 2/3 cabins 7 people never any left  Over. We always have too many bottles of wine at end of cruise. D+ bottles, Casino gifts , We don’t drink Wine .

You get snarky answers because...

A. the question has been asked 1000 times before

B.all you really have to do is google "bringing water on a RCI cruise ship" and you'll get a dozen or more hits.

Sorry if this seems snarky to you.
