If that aggravated you so much you struggled to sleep then with all due respect you live a sheltered life.

I'm guessing you missed OP's point as I didn't think she lost sleep over the unkempt room, rather, the way I read it, she was disturbed for her Butler and therefore, did not sleep well.  I was clued in by her mentioning that she asked to see him (the butler) before he departed and offering a tip for his services.

It’s sometimes easy to misinterpret the printed word.  With no vocal inflections or facial clues….

I wonder how such a mess up could happen that the Butler was onboard the ship, at work, and only then was a problem with his paperwork discovered.

It does happen.  We once had a Maitre d whose work visa was about to expire, in about 3 days.  He had to leave the ship at the next port and fly home to get his paperwork in order.  Apparently no one caught it.

@helen haywood - Evidently it does happen quite a bit, especially since the back up of visa and work applications since Covid. It does seem as though Celebrity's human resource people are a bit swamped with trying to staff ships now that they are back to full or almost full passenger loads.

Time to finish packing up as much as I can before we head out for the evening. I like to be able to place the last items in our suitcases after dinner.

Hard to believe it is a week since disembarked Equinox ...

Cliff notes version:

We had a very laid back and relaxing cruise ... even though we both came home with viral bronchitis.

Mary, our butler, and Edwin, our cabin attendant, were OUTSTANDING! The staff in Luminae were incredible.

This was the third time that Tuscan Grill was a miss for us. We agree we won't be booking it again.

The ship is great shape for her age.

Let me know if you want me to continue with a day by day recap!

We enjoyed breakfast every morning and a few lunches on our balcony!

We never ate on our balcony but did put the seats at the end of the bed together to make a makeshift table to hold the room service tray.

No Cattier this trip. We have had Moet twice put they are generally pouring a brand I have not heard of before the cruise but it quite drinkable. I'll take a photo of the bottle this evening.

Did you ever manage to figure out  the name of the champagne they were serving?

It was 2016 since I last sailed Equinox.  We are booked on her in a comped veranda stateroom for July 2nd in the Caribbean.

Hi.  Perhaps we'll meet.😀 We're looking at the three Equinox sailings in July (August is cutting it too close to hurricane season peak).

We're waiting on a new roof (because of Ion).  DH wants to be around when it goes up (to supervise....lol).  Once they start, it goes pretty fast.   It'll be a last minute booking, if it happens.

Love to read more.  We are sailing on Equinox in September.  We've had mixed results with Tuscan but were planning on giving it one more chance.  Can you go into detail about why it was a miss?

Thanks

I think the Tuscan experience depends on the ship, the chef, and the crew in Tuscan.  I too had not satisfactory previous experiences there on other ships.  Last year on the Summit, some of my friends wanted to go and since it was included in the price of my suite, I went.  It was surprisingly good.  I was astounded.

Fingers crossed!  That would be awesome!

We are considering this cruise in the near future.  I have been reading recent reviews and have some questions.

Casino....someone wrote that all the penny machines were gone.  If so, what were they replaced with.

Cafe Al Bachio .... How are the pastries?  I recently read they were the same as those served in the buffet.  That would be sooooo disappointing !!!

We were on Equinox last month. I was not impressed with two different items at Cafe Al Bachio. They were both dry and tasteless. One was muffin and other cinnamon roll. After those I did not try any others. There were a few chocolate desserts at buffet that were good. The cinnamon rolls were not good there either.

Oh no!  I hope this is just a very nasty rumor!  What would replace them that could be more lucrative than the penny slots?  More table games?

Have you tried the lemon tarts or the oatmeal raisin cookies?  They are usually very good.  I find that things tend to look better than they actually taste when it comes to most sweets on cruise ships.

We were on the Equinox from May 4th thru the 13th. There were plenty of penny slots in the Casino and lots of people playing them.
