What ship will be sailing from Southampton in 2025?

Recommended Posts

Just something I noticed today. The port bookings for Odyssey in Madeira for 2025 have now been removed and replaced by calls for Independence. However, Odyssey still appears in many other ports across Europe, but it could be a recent change that ports have yet to update their systems. So, could Royal have switched their plans and now planning to send Indy back to Southampton, in place of Odyssey, or aiming to have a second ship? Obviously, the closer we get to the deployment release in November, the more accurate information will become.

On what page/pages do you see that? I tried to google port authorities cruise calls but feel many of the ports dont show 2025 yet?
Maybe you can share a link or two? Would love to follow my self

For a few years RCI had 2 ships out of Southampton so at least there was some choice and could mix it up . Other cruise lines have been bringing in their newest ships to Southampton or established UK lines have brought out new ships  and winning customers over. We said we wouldn't cruise P&O as it was too British but they have new ships  and older ships with interesting itineraries even out of the UK, doing a cruise that goes to the Outer Hebrides in July.

I do not disagree with the view of production shows/plays repeated for years on the same ship.  My first Anthem cruise I thought little of the 3 main shows. I have sailed Anthem 5 other times, never have I attended another performance of 'The Gift'. The last time I saw 'WWRY' was in 2017. I did attend "Spectra's Cabaret' 3 times in total.

I do wish the ability to change or transfer shows to other ships of the same class was implemented. It was asked onboard once & the answer was it is not possible. 'WWRY' has been recently renewed for another 10 years on Anthem. Conversely, I will miss Oasis not sailing from New Jersey because of 'Aqua 80'. It is the best show I have seen (land or sea) and I would never tire of it.

What I find ironic is Anthem has sailed out of Bayonne, NJ for more than 8 years. It is the only ship from Bayonne for 6 months of the year with the same shows performed when she sails from Southampton. There is a disproportionate number of complaints from those who board Anthem in England, where Anthem has sailed for only 2 seasons.

Anthem was named and launched her inaugural European season out of Southampton April  2015 , I think she only missed the Corona years but then again I could be wrong but she has definitely  done more than 2 seasons

Some people attach more importance to the shows than others, some people rarely or never go to the shows.  Some people prefer to gamble or sit in the bars. Thank goodness we are all different.

We only get one RC ship for six months of the year in the whole of the  UK. There are other ports within a relatively reasonable driving distance or train journey from NY (Baltimore or Boston).   Plus you get a different ship in the Summer months.

I see Indy there on 19 May and 20 October 2025.

Interesting regarding Indy. I suppose now she's served her purpose doing the short runs for CocoCay and the big ships are moving onto those routes, they have to put her somewhere else so a Southampton return doesn't seem unrealistic? Ditto for a Voyager Class.

Radiance Class would work for Northern Europe runs from Southampton but Amsterdam probably has Jewel again and that might take up the market. I'd assume two of the others get Alaska, so there would only be one left anyway.

That would line up with Transatlantic cruises more than a Southampton season.

May 19th seems a bit late for a TA to me, as the UK ship usually has the latest crossing which is normally in early May. Also, it has replaced an Odyssey booking, which was scheduled as part of a canaries cruise. It looks like she might be coming to Southampton to me, but I will keep a track of it.

Anthem has sailed year round from New Jersey after its TA from Europe. Royal transferred Oasis to NJ for summer sailings, originally scheduled for 2020 but postponed until 2021, which allowed Anthem to go to England.

Anthem was in Southamptonn in Summer  2015 only and got replaced by Independence who came back. Anthem replaced her again from Summer 2021 (original plan 2020 but no cruises in that year). She has sailed from Southampton for 2 years now.

(sorry, overlooked the post above!)

Please God… don’t let it be so!

As others have said, it does seem to be late for Southampton departures so hoping she’s on her way somewhere else!!! Anywhere else!

I really hope not. I can’t deal with the Indy again, it’s so boring now having been on it around 12 times from Southampton.

I just went through our  cruise history , between August 2008 and end of 2019 , the last cruise before her final westbound crossing  we went on Independence 21 times  ! Somehow we never tired of that ship but maybe because we did several different itineraries including  transatlantics , the Caribbean , Norway . Have great memories of Indie.

Any ship that has the Diamond lounge in the Viking Crown area can't be all bad. Has some good shows too I seem to remember
