boulders Posted May 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2023 I cruise mainly for the itinerary, not for the cabin. I've cruised in inside cabins twice, once in a main deck J cabin for 24 nights with 3 kids. It was fine. The other time was on Princess. The cabin was tiny, but it was also fine. I've been looking at the deck 10 (Observation deck) cabins on Zuiderdam. I like how they are close to the Crow's Nest and Cafe. Has anyone done both a main deck J cabin and a observation deck K? If so, which do you prefer? This would be for a long cruise.
Cruise Suzy Posted May 29, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2023 I have not been in them, but if it makes a difference to you: K10021 and K10024 do have windows even tho classified as inside cabins. They are next to the exit doors and look out onto the jogging path, but friends say they've not been bothered by either. Halfacts.com has photos of K10024 on both Zuiderdam and Oosterdam.
SilvertoGold Posted May 29, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2023 Large SQUARE insides are 200 square feet (on some ships even larger) and very comfortable. Nice curved sofa. HalFacts.com: look at photos of Zuiderdam 1116 and Noordam 1113
Rare Mary229 Posted May 29, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 29, 2023 I sailed Zuiderdam last fall on deck 10 interior. It is small. it’s proximity to the crow’s nest (coffee) and the outside deck is great. I have the same cabin booked on the Westerdam for a month next year.
RuthC Posted May 29, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 29, 2023 I assume you are talking about a Vista or Signature class ship? If so, the J & K-category cabins on Main Deck (and Main Deck only) are about as good as you can get. The K-category cabins are aft of the aft elevators, so a long walk home at night if you go to the show, casino, or entertainment venues near them. The J-category cabins have to be selected carefully, so that you are not directly under the entertainment venues (unless you are out late, when it wouldn't matter). Closer to mid-ship is safer.
Rare Haljo1935 Posted May 29, 2023 #6 Share Posted May 29, 2023 We had one of the inside cabins (10043) w/the window on Nieuw Amsterdam - it was probably as good as it gets w/out an actual Oceanview. Having natural light was awesome and we were able to have a peek-a-boo view both Aft and Starboard. There was a double vanity in the bathroom, so lots of space. The cabin was tight for 2 people but doable. Air worked great, not really much noise from the door going to the deck except for a stormy night when they ended up closing it off. Proximity to Crows Nest, deck 12 and spa was great; trip to dining was a little long but good for staying active. Great location, would do it again in a heartbeat. Tbay Posted May 29, 2023 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2023 Zuiderdam K1113 K1116 K1119 K1123 These are large cabins, very comfortable. Check out the pictures on Halfacts. Look at the pictures for Westerdam 1119 as well. Same layout. Dining room is above these cabins.

I’m too lazy right now to look up the room number. Plenty of room and the nice L shaped sofa. Edited May 29, 2023 by MISTER

Based on reading what people say here, I changed our reservations for September 2024 to 10044. I think that's going to work great for us. Really good location and some natural light for my hubby.

The windows are coated, so daytime is fine, but be sure to close the curtains at night. 🙃 Enjoy your trip!

The "tight but doable for 2" part doesn't bother me, since I well remember weeks spent with the deluxe accommodations of a 5' X 7' backpacking tent. Tight but doable. 🤣😅

Tight but doable. 🤣😅 I obviously like the cabin but I want to re-emphasize they are tiny. Bed, small desk/dresser, small tv, a small table with chairs. No easy chair, no sofa, no loveseat. The cabin is so tight you have trouble getting the luggage stashed since the bed is so close to the wall. I don’t mind it but just want you to understand

It's been many years since we booked an inside, but I well remember the size of a couple of them. I think one we had on Norwegian was the smallest. This one still might come as a shock to us, since our last two cruises have been in one of the huge M6 minis on Princess, but I'm sure we'll be fine. The window made all the difference -- and the fact that we had three chairs. Luck of the draw, but you could ask your steward for a third chair on the first day... It was not nearly as small as I was expecting, and the Crows Nest as our living room plus handy access to the Lido after walking by the Spa & along the pool was all we needed to be comfy on the sea days.
