Just how much of a problem ARE interlopers in the YC?

Feeling a little green, are we?

I have no idea what you mean even after looking at the Urban Dictionary.

I certainly would never think of myself as "dumb as f***k" (UD definition.

As it appears that you might be having trouble with the ideas that were subtly implied in my post, let me state them in two simple sentences:

1. Mind your own business.

2 Don't judge a book by its cover.

green with envy.  Used quite a bit in literature.  Not so much in urban dictionary.

Shared hosts. Note the use of the plural in the description of the service for the regular suites.
"Private butler services from our Residence Hosts."

Now, notice the use of the singular "Manager" in the service description for the Owner's Residence.
"Dedicated private butler services by the Residence Manager."

The Residence Manager is possibly the same job we YC rubes call "Head Butler."

Here is also some interesting news found on a FB Explora page. The TA that runs the site was told by Explora Journeys that when the ship docks at Ocean Cay it will be the only ship to visit and only the Residences will be allowed to use Ocean House and its beach. A different lunch menu will be provided. So there will be a pecking order after all ?

It will actually be interesting to try the other food venues and bars without crowds. Besides the Ocean House we’ve only had a drink at the Lighthouse Bar. I would assume the menu at the buffet will be a different with an Explora visit as well. As long as we get a reasonable shot at reserving a table at the onboard Explora restaurants I’m not bothered. Instead of our walk to Ocean House we will walk to the helipad. I personally was never under the illusion that that there would not be ‘unequals among equals.’ We are in an OT-1 for our first cruise, absolute ‘steerage.’ 😀

I just do not get all the pushback by people when talking about the YC and outside guests.  I do not feel it is people being uppity.  It is a matter of paying for a certain level of service and exclusivity.  When you have paid for this level why should you be good with others taking advantage for free of something you paid for.   Also, by using resources in the exclusive area that might have an impact on your level of service received.

It’s like buying a business class seat on a flight and somebody in coach taking your seat when you go to the bathroom

I was wondering why my Delta One seat from Dublin to JFK seemed uncomfortable!  Should have looked under the blanket before sitting down!

Depending on what was under the blanket, it might have been more comfortable…. EM

Personally, I can't see spending my time on a ship policing and deciding which passenger belongs where, taking photos and tracking down the ship's officers to show them my documentation.

It reminds me of the renters who would rent one of the homes by us in the Keys and then would fuss about the "homeless" person pushing a beat up shopping cart and picking up cans, plastic bags, and other garbage along the highway and other streets.

They would fuss until someone would explain that the homeless bum was one of the richest people on the island and he was doing his bit to keep the Key clean.

I agree with you.  I'm on vacation and probably didn't bring my kids so the only people I'm worried about are my dh and myself.  It seems exhausting worrying about who belongs and who doesn't and then chasing people down to take care of it. LOL

When we had to deal with interlopers in YC, we were not being uppity at all. The attitude came from self righteous outsiders, trying to bully us.

We came up to pool deck and went to our reserved cabana.  We were very surprised to see a couple enjoying the accommodations. I asked them to please leave as this was reserved for our use.
The outrage and profanity was pretty shocking. “ who are you to tell us we cannot stay…we were here first..you are @*#&. You both go and @#$!.  (Fill in the blanks).

We were shocked.
As older, retired couple this was not what we expected from YC guests.

I asked pool attendants what we should do, they called Concierge. He came up and said they are not YC and had them escorted out. They were drunk and yelling at everyone.

When others feel they are entitled to what you paid extra for at no consequence to them, that is the issue we in YC have with this behavior.

I still think YC management need to take more drastic measures against interlopers.

Following this discussions shows how pi.... off most of the paying YC guests are.

Maybe it needs more pressure on the YC mangement from the YC guests?

That will make for a sparse group at Ocean House and the beach.

There are only 22 Residence suites on Explora I, plus the Owner's Residence. (a.k.a. Versailles)

Very few passengers, really.

Whatever is being served at Ocean House isn't the challenge. The trick will be to give the other two suite classes a better lunch than hot dogs and jerked chicken.

I would not be pleased to pay more than YC for entry-level Explora and eat less-than-YC quality lunch.

I think most of us posting on this topic agree.

But, the truth is management will be reluctant to divert labor from other tasks or risk an escalated confrontation.

I offer as examples, the posts describing the interlopers who were allowed to eat before being asked to leave and the other group who were bribed with a bottle of bubbly to vacate.

Reposting from one on Explora Forum

I wrote this about one of our latest outings on Seascape Yacht Club.

We recommend everyone try to have lunch at Ocean House, before it rains. It can get very crowded with only enough tables for 168 guests at one time if everyone shared a table. Lately the Yacht Club has been running full with 330 official paying guests. Then there are those with "ACCESS"; we had 44 of these friends and family of officers. And then those with friends and family of Yacht Club residing outside the YC. So it can get rather 'messy'. One might have to eat , bending over on their beach lounger, or wait for some fellow YCer to give up their table. Once it was cold and it poured. Everyone present tried to find standing space huddled inside Ocean House which only has 3 tables and the bar. Getting back to the ship waiting for one 7 passenger trolley, had the YC director commandeer a larger island trolley. It still took time to get back to the ship with not enough trolleys., at that time.

So having 1(OS) x3, 10 (Cove) x 4, 6 (Retreats) x 4, 4(Serenity) x4, and 2 (Cocoon) x 4  = 91 maximum capacity. Add to this maybe those in the lower suites that have "ACCESS" (friends and family of officers), and perhaps friends and family residing outside the Residences traveling with those in the Residences (just like in the Yacht Club now that intimidate their way in) this would allow just this number to enjoy lunch on the veranda of Ocean House. There are 17 tables  on the veranda, 3 inside. So 20 tables without having to 'share', equals perhaps 40 guests. So limiting Ocean House to just the Residences is a smart move. It is much more enjoyable not having to fight/ wait for a table. Am sure those in the 14 available pergolas would also like to enjoy lunch seated on the veranda as well.

I love how some make up rules or policies and think  if they state them with "authority" that it makes it reasonable.

Unfortunately, I would break out laughing if I heard this .Then, I would probably answer with,    "you are hilarious, wrong but, hilarious."

I just went back to FB to see if I could find it, but it must have been taken down. There were a lot of comments yesterday. Mine was "Interlopers."  😃
