Our next cruise with Princess isn't until March 2024 on the Enchanted. We both have the Plus Beverage Package (first time). Is the type of BP coded on our SeaPass cards? Are we allowed to order drinks (alcohol) as soon as we board the ship? I'm assuming the BP is like with Celebrity's BP and you can order drinks anytime (?). What is a SeaPass card?

I was just reading a Carnival Facebook page where the discussion was about 15 drinks per day. The part I didn’t know was they were stating after reaching the 15 alcoholic drinks per day with the package you can’t even purchase an alcoholic drink. So my question is does Princess follow this same policy? In case you’re worried about my liver I wouldn’t drink more than 15 but just wondering about the ability to have a drink after 15 especially if for some reason I consumed 15 by late afternoon and ten wanted a nightcap. Im on the Caribbean Princess right now, yes 15 is a daily limit but water, soda, coffe, teas do not count in the total. Enjoy!

Rare JGmf Posted July 6, 2023 #80 Share Posted July 6, 2023 Chiming-in: long-time NCL cruiser who first sailed on Princess only two weeks ago. The punch-line: Princess' package is better than NCL's, despite the 15 drink limit. NCL's drink package ("Free at Sea", which costs about $25 day for the gratuities portion) has NO limit on number of drinks. All drinks are 'free' through $15, passengers paying the overage + 20% gratuity for anything more expensive. NCL, however, has higher drink prices than Princess; and they have fewer lower- and mid-shelf brands that are covered by the package. Also: specialty coffees, bottled water, and sodas in cans are NOT included with NCL's package. I was kind of worried about the Princess drink limit, but it never factored for me (I start with Bloody Mary's in the morning and off to the races...). If it had, given the better choices on drinks and the lower per drink prices, I wouldn't have minded.

Obviously things have changed since our 2010 Grand Princess cruise. So the medallion is the new SeaPass card? Good to know that everything (tier level, cabin number, BP, onboard charges and etc.) will be programed on the medallion. I'll refrain from using the term SeaPass card on the Princess forum. Enjoy! Thank you for a first hand answer. I seriously doubt we would drink the fifteen drinks especially on port days. If everything was equal with another cruise line then the limit would be a determining factor as to which cruise line.

I'll refrain from using the term SeaPass card on the Princess forum. Actually nothing is programmed into the Medallion except for a unique identifier. The info is all (supposedly securely) stored in computers. The Medallion is just the identifier that ties you to the info in the system. Also, SeaPass was never a term used by Princess. They called it a Cruise Card. Same thing by a different name. I like the Medallion instead of the card. I don't have to fumble with the card to open the door when I have my hands full. It just automagically unlocks when I get near. I also like that the Steward can tell if the cabin is occupied or not and can clean when we are out. (I once had a lady steward come into the room to clean and start opening the bathroom door while I was ensconced on the throne. Not good...)

davekathy Posted July 7, 2023 #86 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Got it. Cruise Card now Medallion. It's been 13 years since our last Princess cruise. Is there a nightly Captains Circle HH for Platinum?

If you don't have Plus or Premier there will be a selection of discounted drinks available at the nightly Platinum/Elite/Suite nosh. On our last cruise we met friends there a couple of times in the evening as they didn't have a package. Since we did have a package we ordered whatever drinks we wanted rather than the discounted selection. It's too close to our dinner time for us to avail ourselves of the food but sometimes we don't really feel like a "real" dinner so we grab something there anyway. Tedferg Posted July 7, 2023 #94 Share Posted July 7, 2023 Only slightly off topic, prior to our recent 12-day British Isles cruise I had done a lot of mental speculating on what we would probably drink, available OBC and price of Plus. Decided we would do better with a la Carte by about $200. Sitting in the bar on first day, logic and arithmetic is completely different 🙂 We went for the Plus, and I am sure we got value 🙂

We are fans of the Specialty coffees, the espressos, etc. and since they are included it eliminates the need for the coffee cards which have been discontinued anyway and I drink lots of water sparkling and still and those are included too. On a 25 day sailing, DH will inevitably need to us the WIFI to check in at the office on occasion so we'll have that. We never drink to the 15 drink max but still find with inclusion of all of the above plus the included gratuities, the Plus package works for us. We will use our OBC for the casino 😉, maybe Bingo, Chef's table/Winmaker's dinner and any other goodies that strike our fancy! 🥳 Edited July 7, 2023 by suzyed
