These aren't the bottle filling stations that you are thinking of. These have the push to dispense spout similar to what is pictured below.
mar214 Posted July 19, 2023 #12 Share Posted July 19, 2023 We see people fill their own water bottles directly from the water dispensers. Does anyone realize these people drink from these same water bottles with their mouths on the rims, spout, etc.????? There is no way the water dispensers don't come in direct contact with these things. Unless they have a dishwasher in their cabin, there is no way this is sanitary. Come on, people!! Have some courtesy for the next guy!!!!!!!! 🤢 4
n6uqqq Posted July 19, 2023 #13 Share Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) All this talk about using a clean cup and 99 percent (a wild guess) of people cruising don't even read cruise critic! If Carnival really cared they would design a dispenser to not be able to come in contact with bottles etc. Edited July 19, 2023 by n6uqqq
Rare angelsfort Posted July 21, 2023 #14 Share Posted July 21, 2023 simple solution folks... when you go to get your own water, bring an alcohol wipe and wipe down the spout of the dispenser... chances are they didn't touch the INSIDE of the dispenser with their cup so you're good. seriously - it's your own responsibility to protect yourself. They aren't going to be able to police every single thing on board and you need to take ownership of your own safety. Wash your hands before you eat (yes, wash them after you get your food too - you're touching the same tongs & serving spoons as everyone else is... )

ray98 Posted July 21, 2023 #17 Share Posted July 21, 2023 Carnival should install bottle filling stations now that the trend is everyone having a water bottle within 2ft of them 24/7.

2wheelin Posted July 22, 2023 #19 Share Posted July 22, 2023 At least 95% of water bottles have removable tops which need to be removed to refill. No need to even get the top close to the dispenser. Germs don’t jump from the bottle to the dispenser.

Most water bottles today Do not dispense in the same place you drink. Probably half of cruisers these days have Stanley cups that you have to completely remove the part you drink from to refill. If filled properly, you will not come into any contact with the drink dispenser. There is no difference with Carnival's drink dispenser and the water bottle fill up stations at your job, theme park, etc and none of those have cups on the side for you to "fill up" with. For the record, the Carnival sign is meant to remind you to use a fresh cup every time you get a drink like you get a fresh plate with every visit to the buffet. If it was specifically meant for water bottles it would take 4 or 5 or more fresh cups each time I want to fill up my bottle. 2

In theory, those clean water cups haven't had lips contact.

There is no way a water bottle is going to touch the inside of the dispenser (where the water flows) so if you don’t touch it with your clean cup, you’re good to go, if really worried about this, rinse the dispenser by letting a spoonful or so run out before you fill your glass.
