Is it true regarding Elite and Laundry tokens?

On Grand now. Finished first 3 segments (31 days) and started last 3 segments (32 days). My wife asked about free laundry tokens and was told, "No". Not sure if she said she is Elite or not.

We are onboard as well. I asked about laundry tokens at guest services yesterday and was told that free self service laundry is not available as an elite benefit, only sending laundry out. They said actually does vary from ship to ship.

I wonder if it depends on the class of ship and size of laundry room? The Royal class ship laundry rooms are much larger and seem to always have free machines. On the older ships they are tiny with only 2 machines of each that seem to be always occupied. I can see why they wouldn’t encourage elites to use them when they’re too scarce to service the rest of the passengers.

No, tokens were free on the Caribbean Princess in August

Because I read this thread before I left for my cruise on the Enchanted (Sept 2) I asked at GS for laundry tokens.  They gave them to me.  Asked again a few days later and got more.  Maybe we were lucky?

Hope it stays that way for my cruise next month.

April: Royal Princess: free tokens

May & June: Emerald Princess B2B: free tokens

Think I've still got a few but will definitely ask for more.

Please be careful, they are NOT interchangeable between ships, different sizes are used on different ships, so there is no point in accumulating a stash of them. But, they have been happy to give them to us at Passenger Services at no charge since after the pause.

Wow. Didn't know that. I've got 2 product tokens, no washer / dryer ones. If no good then no loss

I wonder if the Laundry is run by a concession, like the stores and casino?  The general rule might be that the ship stays out of it, but on some ships the they feel like taking care of it is less hassle than the grief the might get.  This also might explain why it isn't consistently an Elite benefit, it would cut into the concessionaires profit.  Just a thought.

I suppose you could exchange them for the current ships tokens.

I had some leftover tokens from the Caribbean Princess that would not work on the Regal.  I'd already dumped the clothes and soap in the washer when I found out, so I bought a couple of tokens from the machine. After several tries at guest services I was able to get some free tokens, and thereafter I just left a note for Stuart and he would leave a few in my cabin.

Good to know.

I never used the machines but saved a few tokens, just in case. I suppose I should make the tokens so I don't get them confused in the future.

Machines worked without tokens on the Crown in March. Just off Regal, no free tokens from customer service. I was going to use excess OBC to get tokens for our next Majestic cruise, from reading here, glad I didn't.

Every ship we have ever been on from the small ships like Island and Coral to the larger newer ships like Sky have all used .050 size tokens.
What is the sizes of the other tokens that people are finding in use?

I'm just off the Regal and got free tokens.

Don't you just love the inconsistency in large organizations?

In the future, keep asking until you get the answer you want.
