Fantasy was an original Icon and with the best interior decor of all Fantasy Class! The Cats lounge anybody?!

I hoped beyond hope some artifacts from the Cat's Lounge would make their way to eBay or somewhere, or even better yet reused on a future vessel.

Ecstasy.

Honeymoon cruise with my sparkling wife back in 2005.  Won in the casino.  Found out my wife would only order from the everyday menu.  Caesar's salad and flat iron steak chased with chocolate melting cake every night.

We won the newlywed game.  Still have the little trophy.

Great memories.  21 cruises later and lots of fancier ships...but wish we could sail on her again.

I was torn between Tropicale, the line's first new build, and Fantasy - the ship that started one of the most successful class of ships the industry has ever seen.

In the end I decided on Fantasy.

EXACTLY  my choice. Tropical was my first Carnival ship and then the Fantasy class ships which literally allowed Carnival to take over the industry, pay cash for their ships and buy up other cruise lines as if it were a hobby. 😄

It's a shame that one of the pivotal ships in the history of pleasure cruising was not given a proper send-off before scrapping.

the Fantasy was my daughters first cruise ship and YES!  that Cats lounge was awesome!  Somewhere we've got a bunch of pics taken in there!  LOL

I’ve sailed on eight Carnival ships (several of them multiple times) and the only one no longer in service is Imagination.  And I wouldn’t choose that one.  It was fine but unmemorable.

If Elation (the ship I sailed first) or Paradise (the one I’ve sailed most often) were gone, I might choose one of them!

Wasn't my first, so that is not why I am voting for Festivale, but it had a unique feel.  I believe it was not purpose-built for cruising, and it had the feel of an old-time ocean liner.  Lots of actual wood on the Lido deck.  Definitely different than any other cruise we have sailed on.  Not sure how successful it would be now, but would be nice to experience it again at least once.

We have our souvenirs from the Owner's Suite on the Sensation (probably owing to our staying in it several times). When they remodeled those two rooms in dry dock I asked my contact at Carnival what would happen to those lamps, and was told that they could hold them for me at the port (Canaveral) after the ship came back if we wanted them! I had them rewired (for 120v).

As the daughter of USN MCPO I had the opportunity to visit a few of the Navy’s ships as a child. It was cool, I had also gone on several local fishing and whale watching trips in So CA. Nothing could compare to the grandeur it felt like when I boarded my first cruise ship, the original M.S. Mardi Gras. The elegant wood carving, formal dining room, elegant meals. Not just the ship but the experience would be nice to bring back too.

There's a reason(s) they're not in the fleet any longer 🙂

If any of those were brought back, I would not sail on them... In other words, for us, certain things (restaurants, venues, amenities, etc) trump nostalgia.

Tom

I guess I meant what is your favorite former Carnival ship
