MMfan14 Posted September 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Haven't seen any talk about if the new late night snack option is a hit or miss. Anyone who has tried it give your opinion if its a hit or miss.
Rare starstruck05 Posted September 20, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2023 I was just on the Glory at the beginning of the month and we did the late night snack twice and it was busy both times. We went right as they opened at there were at least 20 people waiting both times. I'm happy it's back.
bobbismith Posted September 20, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2023 I need a snack before bed when I drink. The pizza line is so bad on small ships. The way they did pizza on the Celebration was great!
Bollycats Posted September 20, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Hit the buffet earlier and store things in the fridge for later. 1 1
teknoge3k Posted September 20, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2023 We had it back in July when it restarted. It wasn't bad. It was enough to hold me over until I made it upstairs for pizza. 😆
ObstructedView2 Posted September 20, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Hi @MMfan14🙂 Late Night Snacks/Midnight Buffet on Celebration was from 11:30pm to 1am, in Guy's Pig & Anchor. 🍹 11
ray98 Posted September 20, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2023 It was a good move on Carnival's part....the pizza was simply overloaded.
Rare sparks1093 Posted September 20, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 20, 2023 I like having the option. We used the delivery feature on the app to order late night pizza delivered to wherever we happened to be. It did come with a price but we didn't have to stand in line.

Times were from Midnight to 1:30. The pizza was horrible, but the hot dogs and chicken tenders were amazing when you're drunk. 😋

Sailor75 Posted September 20, 2023 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2023 I didn't think it was worth the wait, meatball sub was dry and pizza was terrible, chicken nuggets were okay, but I wish they had barbecue sauce. After trying the late night snacks, I preferred the deli; but, I go to bed by 11.
redsox1584 Posted September 21, 2023 #12 Share Posted September 21, 2023 I did not think the pizza at the late night eats was very good. However, the chicken tenders with honey mustard were delicious. I also enjoyed the meatball sub and hot dogs.

It's just a little something for the people who happen to be up that late. Give Carnival a little credit for responding to the requests for more late night food.

Therefore, you only had to wait for special orders. There was no wait for cheese and pepperoni

I'm saying I wouldn't wait for it, because I go to bed early, but if I happened to be up its better than waiting for the pizza. I wanted to try it since it's new, but it was disappointing and that's my opinion. The OP's question was is it a hit or miss, not let's all praise Carnival for bringing something back they got rid of.

They also had chili on the side for chili hot dogs. The pizza was horrific and wasn't even close to the fresh pizza at the back of the boat.
lasvegascruising Posted September 21, 2023 #17 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Just off the Radiance last Friday and we visited the late night snack one evening. We both had the chicken noodle soup and vote "YES". It was tasty. For me, maybe a bit more salt but I enjoyed it as it was. There were plenty of folks in line and the whole seating area was pretty full. Between the late night snack buffet and the aft pizza, it was a busy place.
Cherries Jubilee Posted September 21, 2023 #18 Share Posted September 21, 2023 I’m just so happy they have this. Options just make everything run smoother. I wonder why they didn’t add fries. Maybe they’d have to cook too many.

Despegue Posted September 21, 2023 #20 Share Posted September 21, 2023 But why are nearly all of the choices junk food? Rotate the soup so every night it is a different one ( broccoli, tom yam , chicken, asparagus, ...) instead of more “pizza”, offer some satés,(different kinds every night), maybe some vegetable quiches, ...the current menu is what we say in Belgium “designed for drunks “, make it designed to get a better sleep and not get a quicker heart attack. 2
john91498 Posted September 21, 2023 #21 Share Posted September 21, 2023 You're correct, the current menu is made for drunks. When I'm drunk, the last thing I want is a salad or soup. Give me junk food when I'm drunk... 11

As many American households have found out, junk food is inexpensive and easy to prepare. While there are some who would love what you suggest I would think the vast majority are happy with the choice being offered. That coupled with the extra work (and expense) involved means that Carnival will maintain the status quo.
Knights on the Beach Posted September 21, 2023 #23 Share Posted September 21, 2023 I'm just happy there are chips & salsa - something that's been sadly lacking from my cruises in recent years.

I have suggested that Carnival should open a Waffle House on board for those that stay up late. After midnight, that is the go to place in the U.S. 2

Most Carnival cruisers who are still up at midnight aren't exactly the vegetable quiche crowd. I am not judging; it's just reality. I think Carnival knows their audience. And as far as the menu being "designed for drunks"... to be fair, most of the people up at midnight have been drinking since noon, especially if it's a sea day...
