Unfortunately, the only place we eat out is when we’re on a cruise, which as you might notice in my below expanded signature is quite often. So I’m pretty useless when it comes to recommending restaurants in the area. Sorry for not having better news.

Ok, By the way, we'll be on Montgomery on February 6.  Although if you know of good restaurants even if you've never been there, it would be more than we know now.

After a tasty lunch up at the buffet after our excursion, we went to listen to David Wiemers’ third lecture about his time with the Walt Disney Company, which was quite interesting.

Then after dinner, we went to watch a new comedian,

Then it was off to a packed Explorers Lounge to watch the Marriage Match game show. If this gives you any hint on the average age of the guests on this cruise, the newlyweds on the left have been married for 22 years! 😂

I talked with my DW and she suggested checking out Trip Advisor. This link should give you some suggestions along with various reviews. Hope this helps.

One thing new, at least to us.

Instead of elites filling out a card to select canapés for formal evenings, you have to now call room service to request the only choice which is pralines (which are really 2 chocolate candies and 2 white chocolate candies).

The only way to know to do this is a single line on a sheet with a list of elite information which covers topics from the nightly elite/platinum/suite lounge to the wine tasting event. No ordering card in the cabin.

Wine tasting event? We’re in a suite and we didn’t receive a sheet of paper telling us about any of our suite perks. Our steward was the one who told us about the new daily canapé rules, which he so kindly placed a standing daily order for us with RS. But there was no mention of any wine tasting event on our Platinum perks list we got. If I might ask, when and where is it on this cruise?

Update: I just called Guest Services and they said it’s on Oct 28 at 2 pm in the Island dining room. I also asked them if they might send us the Suite perk list just in case we might be missing out on some other fun things. Thanks for the heads up!

@Ken the cruiser

I love reading your live from. I’ve never been in a suite, but I thought the wine tasting that was complementary was for elites, but sounds like it is also for full suite guests too. Enjoy, I tried it once.

Thanks! I guess we’ll find out if suite guests actually do get to attend when I show up. On the bright side after this cruise, we will be Elite! 😁

Then don't worry too much, since they'll probably have the same wines on the next cruise (I'm assuming you'll make Elite after the first one?)

We have a B2B next month and I’ll be Platinum on the first cruise and Elite on the second cruise. My plan is to hold out on doing laundry until the 2nd cruise and hopefully get it done for free. Also want the mini-bar set up for cruise #2 as we don’t have Plus/Premier on #2.

Here’s the excursion we’ll be going on once we get to Newport.

What an interesting excursion! It was quite fascinating to see some of the elegant mansions found in and around Newport, many of which evolved from the Gilded Age from 1870 through 1900 and beyond! First, we tendered over, which was quite painless as we had our morning excursion where we met in the theater.

Along the way we saw a greeting committee of cormorants.

IMG_4347.thumb.jpeg.326ed718cda82bd3d1d3ee824f92cece.jpeg

Once onshore, we all met up with our tour guide who then mentioned we were going to go on the cruise around the bay first. So once we got settled on the “yacht”, we were off!

One of the first places we cruised by was the Newport Yacht Club, whose membership the first year is $200,000! 😂

Then we passed by a beach loaded with Canadian geese.

The greatest part of the excursion was the awesome day we got to spend both on the yacht as well as sightseeing through town! 😁

We will actually make Elite when we finish the 5-day Caribbean cruise immediately following this cruise. However, I would imagine you should be able to go to Guest Services once you start your second leg of your B2B to get your shipboard account upgraded with your Elite status. But that of course is just a guess.

today….3 versions of praline.
buffet - cake like dessert

MDR - torte like dessert

MDR - similar to what I considered a praline/almond and corn syrup crisp

Sorry to disappoint you but the wine tasting is an elite perk.

You would need to see Future Cruise people if you are not automatically switched to Elite. On my last cruise, I went to the office to pick up a pin for my cabin mate. Not even a welcome packet at the end of her cruise.

I’m surprised to hear they still give out pins! I remember the old days when they would deliver your pin and a benefits packet to your stateroom.

When we made Elite we were on a B2B.  First we went to Princess Captain's Circle Loyalty and after they updated things straight down to Customer Service for new medallions.  Easy.

Cheers
