john91498 Posted November 1, 2023 Author #2 Share Posted November 1, 2023 We're not sailing on carnival in 2024. Was trying to get my wife to book a much cheaper cruise than our cruises on Royal.
mz-s Posted November 1, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2023 Carnival is cheaper for a reason.

I think a lot of us here know it is cheaper for a reason, and actually don't find any problem with that. I have sailed on Carnival over a dozen times but after my last one I feel like I may be outgrowing the brand. I need to see them improve their quality before I'll cruise them again. firefly333 Posted November 2, 2023 #11 Share Posted November 2, 2023 I'd book that deal in a heart beat, doesnt matter what ship. At that price, I'm a go. But I dont get carnival deals, royal is cheaper for me as a solo. I'd be a yes.

evandbob Posted November 2, 2023 #13 Share Posted November 2, 2023 Typical casino offer that we constantly turn down since we don't like interior rooms if we are both sailing. I've done some casino interiors when cruising solo though. Interestingly, we've sailed on about 12 free balcony casino offers from Celebrity during the COVID depression, Carnival kept giving us the interior cabin offer and a weekend, 3 or 4 day OV freebie during the same time.

That would indicate Carnival doesn't need to offer better to get the desired ROI. I do find the Carnival casinos to be more entertaining and less of a money grab compared to Celebrity, although I do like the non-smoking aspect. Celebrity gave me a free cruise before I have ever set foot on a Celebrity ship. It might be the only way I would go back.

x lindsay x Posted November 2, 2023 #16 Share Posted November 2, 2023 That's President's week for us and if we can get a deal like that for 3 people, it would be wayyyy cheaper than sailing from the east coast that week. Even with airfare.

That's a good point. We usually get balcony offers and have taken quite a few of those. Carnival has certainly scaled back on their offers... Promotions are marketing gimmicks and only exist as long as desired results are achieved. They are nothing earned or owed.
