Requesting OBC/Stockperks

You completely miss my point.  I don't regard my 100 shares of CCL as an investment, I regard it as an OBC generator.  Frankly I wouldn't waste the time or energy to monitor it closely or daytrade something that cost less than one third of the cost of a cruise that generates OBC. In fact, it is the only single stock I own.  Everything is in EFTs, Monet markets CDs and cash.  Within another year and a half my CCL will have generated enough OBC to guarantee me a profit even if the price goes to zero, and that is the only reason I own it.  For people who can afford to cruise the 1,185 I paid for my stock is a pretty negligible amount.

I think that's true for most of us in this forum who are Carnival shareholders.

Stockperks version 2.9.15 is now available for iPhone. (I don't see an Android update.)

I am now able to get the app to load with my Iphone 6.

Yesterday I sent e-mail requests to both Oceania (owned by NCL) and Holland America (Carnival) to request stockholder OBC's for upcoming cruises. I included proof of ownership for both.

Oceania replied quickly and provided a form to be filled out and e-mailed back, which I did, and they immediately applied the OBC, which was $50pp for 2 of us on a 12-day cruise.

HAL responded late last night and said they applied the OBC, which was $250 per cabin for a 14-day cruise, but they also said from now on I would have to use Stockperks.

The e-mail addresses I used were ShareHolderBenefit@oceaniacruises.com and CCLShareholderHAL@hollandamerica.com (the same one listed earlier in this thread).

I got the same reply from HAL when I sent in my shareholder benefit request.  They will apply the $250 at embarkation, but must use Stockperks in the future🙁.  I downloaded the app on my iPhone and created an account just to see if it will work.  I uploaded a photo of my stock ( with the account # blacked out.)I got the reply that they are reviewing it.

Thank you to everyone who posted on how to get the Shareholder OBC. I requested mine via email and got a confirmation from them that they have successfully applied the OBC to my cruise. Now, where in my HAL account or cruise itinerary do I find the money?

I found it on the Navigator app. Go to your profile. Then go to Cruise Credits, Deposits & Onboard Credits.  Look toward the bottom for Onboard Credits. My Shareholder Benefit OBC is there.

Same here with the app and says they will get back in 2 business days, so far its been 4 and nothing yet. We sail  first week in March and will keep checking because it says must be within 3 weeks of sailing.  I am not sure if they are slammed with requests or its lost in space.

Mine took a week to pass review, sent in January 15.

I bought, and will hold, 100 shares at 11.85 per share.  It could go to 0 and there would not be much of an ache to my portfolio, particularly considering that I've already gotten 500 in OBC on 2 cruises with more to come.

Bought 200 shares at 7.91 after the crash in 2020. Sold 100 of them a month or so later at 14.69. So I have my 100 shares for $128 and short term capital gains on $672. Like you, it doesn't matter what the stock does, it is basically a free OBC generator.

How far out is your cruise? My March 10th is not showing there yet, but it was approved only 8-9 days ago.

Write to CCLShareholderHAL@hollandamerica.com and tell them you used StockPerks but your OBC is not showing up 10 days later. Provide your booking number(s) and length of cruise(s) departing before July 31 2024. Someone will write back and ask for your exact same proof of ownership and scold you that in the future you must use StockPerks.

Your OBC will then show up in fairly timely manner.

In this case I used the HAL email for the OBC, not stockperks, and have received the admonishing letter. My medical/first responder OBC is not showing up yet either, although that is on one of the invoices from my TA. My AARP is also in limbo, as they (as of phone call yesterday) seem to be waiting on verification, which I applied for 2-3 days before I booked, and seemed to show up on a mock booking as verified, but still have not received a verification e-mail (18-19 days now). It will all work out I am sure. Last year on Princess some of the stock OBC was coming through within hours of applying via the E-mail.

Huh! It sounds like you surely need a Pricing Specialist, but I do not know how to get you one -- as you have a TA who "owns" your booking. Maybe you should tell them to contact HAL and request a PS?

I'll give everything a few more weeks, then call again. The issues appear to be delays with their third party verifiers, if it doesn't get caught up in the next few weeks I will be on the phone with them to attempt to get them to manually input the verifications and credits. Everyone here has been great listing their experiences, helpful advice, and phone numbers to use!

Please update us once you've worked it out - we're very interested in seeing you get the proper credits and learning how you did it. It shouldn't be this hard 😞

I think we are progressing. Got our email stating stock has been applied but my TA says she doesn't see it. From what I read it takes days in between each step of the process to view it. Still, we will keep an eye on it and have a printed paper from HA showing it was posted on the account. And this is " simple". ?

UPDATE : All has been posted. In total it was about 10 days from sending in on Stock Perks to email accepting to being posted to the account. I consider myself lucky.

I'm not following. Not all of us who are active traders are classless and fraudulent.

I bet I've bought/sold CCL 25 times since resumption in July of 2021. Heck, I've bought/sold it at least six times since I applied for my shareholder credit last June. I would never make a business decision based on whether or not I should be holding a stock on a certain date. In the last six months I've made way more than the $250 SOBC ccl has applied, they can have that back if they want it.

image.thumb.png.a6c84010a7572d5044af22fcf717bc9b.png

Above is the performance of all three cruise lines over the last 6 months. As you can see, this stock is volatile and has proven very lucrative for swing traders. Heck; Just look at the last week. If you bought 100 shares on Nov 1st at $11.25 you could have sold it one week later on Nov 8th for $12.90. A gain of $165 (of course, you will need to pay short term gain taxes). That one trade will yield more than a 7 day cruise SOBC even after taxes.

Side note; what's to prevent someone from buying the stock a couple weeks prior to cruising, getting the OBC, and then selling at the end of the cruise? Never intending to hold long term. No fraud there as all the terms and conditions were met.

For those who aren't active traders I can see purchasing cruise stock and just sitting on it for the SOBC. It's pretty easy to do and I suspect most people take this road. However; active traders play the game differently. That doesn't make us classless or fraudulent.

We agree 1000% . Some people who do not have any "real authority " on this thread condem those who swing trade . Well my answer to them is it is totally legal .  Thus ,there is zero fraud .i am with you with regards to this question .Seems to us any one who condem another should first look at their own track record .I will listen to any one who never sinned in their life time .Obviously there is no human that can meet that  requirement

imo Carnival corporation  turned to Stockperks to save money . If this issue is difficult gfor people here on cruise critic imagine how difficult  it could be for some one who did the request the old fahioned way & bought the stock many years back in the 40s 0r 50s but ,now will struggle with this stockperks issue . If they made out before stock perks more power to them .

It seems to me there are far to many changes coming down the cruise roads these days ,to suit us   I  for one will trade CCL but not ask for any OBC stock credit .We will make the credit & much more $ by trading it

I applied with Stockperks Tuesday Jan. 23. Uploaded a photo of my current statement, got the reply that it was being reviewed and received email confirmation that it was accepted today, Sun Jan 28.  So it did work!

I started the Stockperk process Jan. 16 by uploading a photo of current statement and did not receive an email confirming such. Uploaded a pdf of statement on Jan 23 and still no confirmation email. In looking at the Profile tab everyday since I have “Profile completion 50%” in a blue box.  I am ready to send email to HAL stating that the new procedure for OBC is very unusable. Fortunately I have until April for my approval.

Hopefully something will come through.  I was annoyed that I had to use the app, but I followed the directions…I had to put my brokerage company in and did get the reviewing email.  Good luck!!

Finally got the email at 7 pm tonight from Stockperks saying my statement had been approved. I did the Redeem step and just got another email saying that my request for OBC has been successfully submitted to HAL. Also it said they would be in touch in 5 days to confirm that the credit was applied. I will contact my TA in a week about getting a new Booking Confirmation to see if credit was applied.

as you are aware the problem with holding the stock  in a hard down market  losses can mount up quickly ,so who in their right mind would continue holding any stock that was moving down rapidly ?

We started out with 100 shares of CCL and RCL in the DW's IRA-SEP account over 20 years ago. Paid in the low single digits for the CCL and somewhere in low $20's for the RCL. Since then we have sold and rebought many times over the years. Sold high and bought low, depending on when and how many cruises we had scheduled. But again its only 100 shares which is such a small percentage of our total portfolio, that I don't sweat it when its down. I've recouped several times its value in OBC over the past 20 years and since our cruising is about to accelerate over the next 5 years, we will get even more ROI from our measly 100 shares.

If it was not for the OBC I would not even invest in the 100 shares, as with the debt load the lines have right now, its probably going to be a long time before dividends come back and profits are going to have to be really high to pay off the short term debt they took on to survive Covid.
