orla56 Posted March 18 #1 Share Posted March 18 Hi, this is our first cruise as diamond and wondered when you go to the lounge for coffee and snacks or breakfast is it self service or is there someone serving.I know when you use you voucher for a drink it is polite to give your server a tip.Just want to know what we need to do and don't get it wrong. Also can you go in for late night coffee as I read it is nicer that the usual coffee you get.Is the Oasis viking lounge a nice area to use. Congratulations on making D ! It's a great hurdle to surpass. If you are talking about the self-service coffee machines in the Crown Lounge, yes, it is all self service. No one to tip unless you just want to tip the folks who come and go during the day, servicing the machine and food area. Access to the Crown Lounge (and therefore, to the coffee machine) is 24 hours. It's never "closed"...however, please note that the machine is NOT serviced during the late/early hours and is often out of service due to needing to have the grounds dumped and/or needing to have beans added or needing milk. All of those supplies are locked up so once the machine goes "down" for whatever reason, it will stay down until staff come in the next morning to get it all up and running again.

Oasis does not have a Viking Lounge. The Crown Lounge for Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle members is a nice venue on deck 4 convenient to the theater, ice rink comedy club and Casino. The room is nicely appointed with comfortable seating and offers continental breakfast as well as evening appetizers. Sometime cookies/fruit during the day It is open all day but has specific hours for when the concierge is there. During evening cocktail hours, if you want a drink, you will use one of your pre-loaded vouchers or pay with the sea pass card. Recently some cruises had many crown and anchor members expected to use the Crown lounge some hours might be restricted for Diamond members. If this happens, it is generally during the evening cocktail hours. Since the drinks are complimentary., many tip the server $1 or $2 per drink. If the concierge has help you during the cruise (i.e. several reservations) it is customary to provide a tip to him/her as well. orla56 Posted March 18 Author #8 Share Posted March 18 Thank you all for your replies. I really just wanted to know if there would be anyone in the lounge at breakfast or when going for a coffee that I would tip so that I didn't turn up empty handed.I had already read lots of discussions on tipping when using a drinks voucher but not at breakfast or having a coffee. Thanks again for your helpful information.

Concierge is there for a few hours in the morning and evening. Their hours are posted. No need to tip unless they do something special for you and then we do somat the end of the cruise. In the evening if we order drinks with vouchers will tip a dollar or so to bar waiters in the lounge or at a bar.

That is very gracious. I generally frequent a lounge for specialty coffee in the morning. There is always someone checking on the coffee machine and replenishing food is needed. It’s generally the same person every day. At the end of the cruise I will often give that person, a small tip (maybe $10). It doesn’t seem to be something that I see others doing or that is expected by the server. It’s just some thing I choose to do equally as important, if there is someone that you see every day that helps you in the lounge, it’s always good to recognize them in the survey. That goes along way for them. m
