Now who wants to bet on the likelihood of a thread where someone complains about the bacon shortage onboard? 🤣

You may be new here, there has been a horrific bacon shortage aboard Carnival ships for like 3 years now.

Haven't cruised since before the pandemic so there is that... but in fairness a bacon shortage is a worthy complaint, up there with the removal of the topless decks. 😂

It's been fun watching the mental gymnastics from some here to continue cheerleading in the face of unprecedented cutbacks over the past few years.

You say it right there, though.  Unprecedented.  These are unprecedented times.  To expect nothing to change would be silly.

I can confirm that Cruise Line DO NOT following Nevada Gaming board regulations for payout with slot machines.

They are significantly lower payout percentage than would be legal in Nevada.

90%+ payout percentages in Nevada, around 80% payout percentages on Carnival.

Nevada regulations now allow 75% payback as a minimum. Don't believe me go read it yourself. 🙂

"14.040 Minimum standards for gaming devices. 1. All gaming devices must: (a) Theoretically pay out a mathematically demonstrable percentage of all amounts wagered, which must not be less than 75 percent for each wager available for play on the device."

I saw his post - that's what I was getting at...  It needs enforced with no exceptions, for my reasons listed above! 🙂  I definitely do not think it has anything to do with Carnival losing any money in the casino, like people continue to insist!!

My next cruise I'll organize an LRC session but instead of money we'll play with the next best thing: bacon.

but then you could only play every other day, unless you smuggle your own on..

Here you go....why IS the bacon still on bacation?  It annoys me to no end.  Along with no sauteed mushrooms at Guys and WiFi calling and texting being blocked. It makes no sense.  Can someone give a logical reason?  I'll offer a suggestion...make those items an upcharge.  I'll bet there won't be a shortage then!

I bet they claim that Bingo is sanctioned gambling by the cruise line.

The statement was not that all gambling on board must be sanctioned by the casino.  The statement was that all gambling must take place INSIDE the casino.  Big difference.  Which is why I pointed out that bingo takes place outside the casino.

Serious question:  How do I identify Left Right Center when it is being played somewhere on the Lido deck?  Is it a card game using one normal deck of cards?  Or multiple decks?  Are there game pieces?  How many players?

I have never been aware of this particular game until this exciting thread, and now I want to watch out for it on my upcoming cruise.

This game was new to me too.  A Google search tells me it is a dice game and sounds like fun.  It can be played with regular dice or with special game-specific dice.  You use three dice and typically three chips per player although the number of chips is frequently altered.

Our extended family has a beach house rented for the summer and we will be testing the game for sure.

Thanks, Sonny.  I doubt I've ever seen it being played, because as a craps player, I would almost certainly have noticed people rolling dice!

I've seen before at the Alchemy Bar tables as they are long with plenty of seating (before Alchemy opens).  The Left Right Center host (organizer) was walking up and down the length of the tables with a big'ol wad of cash in his hand -- collecting and distributing money.  I'm sure there was hundreds of dollars in his hand.

Didn't bother me... but I do get the whole gambling not allowed rule.  Cruise Lines do have to meet Federal laws and other country's laws.

Excuse me but the source of my LRC bacon is none of the casino's business! 😉

Unrelated question and asking for a friend. Can you use Rum Runners with cooked bacon or is it best to do uncooked only? If uncooked, can you cook bacon on a hair straightener?

If the host was walking around with 'hundreds of dollars" handing out money than something other than LCR being played. Normally each player starts with an equal stake, often as little as $3. I played for$20s once, but since that was a $60 buy in nobody was all that interested in continuing to play for that much.

As for private gaming, which Carnival is well within their rights to ban, I know that in my state the definition hinges on if they players know each other and if the house takes a cut. As long as random strangers are not let into the game and the winner doesn't have to pay a vig, it is a friendly game and not regulated. However, Carnival doesn't flag their ships in my home state so your mileage may vary.

I was on a cruise last year or the year before and a group of folks had LAMINATED sheets that said something to the effect of "table reserved for so-and-so game group" that they would put on Lido tables when they decided they wanted to play Uno or whatever stupid game they played.

Rude inconsiderate and the wrong cruise line for that kind of behavior. Charter a yacht if you want public areas of the ship for your exclusive use at a whim.

I feel it is no different then people saving chairs around the pool all day with no one sitting therer.

My neighborhood golf club plays LRC,Bunco and Bingo. I am not paying thousands of $s to go on a cruise to play neighborhood games. Maybe the casino should organize LCR and Bunco games and take a cut.

The casino would need a way to hide the rake

Next thing you know port security will have in addition to drug/bomb sniffing dogs, bacon sniffing dogs... or as I like to call them, regular dogs 🤣

I read about this on his page. We’ve played this game with my in-laws for years - using the game pieces it comes with. You don’t need to play with real money.  How anyone thought playing with real money with strangers in the lido was an acceptable idea is beyond me.   Why not just start up a poker game then?!

Also it’s people doing this hogging up space in the lido when others want to eat that drives me crazy.  The whole situation is all kinds of wrong.  SMH

Sorry not sorry, but I "hog up space in the lido" when I want to play cards or a game and that's where I find myself.  I paid for my cruise and am allowed to hog whatever I want, provided I am actually doing the hogging.  It's not like I throw a towel on the table and walk away for 4 hours like people do with pool chairs.

Wow.  As noted you sound like a real treat.

people who do this during prime meal times are just plain rude and beyond selfish.
