I remember on our Alaska trip that people paid considerable sums to go on a Bear watching excursion. They didn't see any. They returned to the car park near the ship - got off the bus, and then saw several bears. It's so random. 
 

The menu at Luminae concerns me. I'm thinking of switching back to Aqua and Blu which we love.

 I agree.  I found just looking at what the main ingredient was, e.g. the protean, I did okay.

They tend to focus on the sauces a lot, I found the ginger crab cake to be good, and the lamb is usually wonderful.

 Depending on the ship, you can sometimes order off the Blu menu in Luminae.  Just ask.  Also, as a Retreat guest, you can dine in Blu, space permitting.  Just check with the Blu maitre'd.

The menu in Luminae looks lame. Doesn't look that much different from 3 years ago.

Yesterday’s meal at Rooftop Garden Grill did not disappoint. We were the only ones there aside from a large group of junior officers who gathered for dinner. It was nice to see and service was great…food, delicious. 
 

Prior to dinner we listened to some live music in Eden and the took a spin around the casino. Casino opened around 6:30.  
 

We skipped the illusionist in the main theater but heard others comment that it was good. 
 

Shortly after departure yesterday (or maybe it was just before we left Skagway) Captain Matt announced that we would experience rougher waters beginning around 5 am. We are indeed rocking and swaying!

Agree, people overthink it..and many are afraid to try anything new..I enjoy trying things I probably wouldn’t cook at home.

It was chilly at first but our server brought us blankets, one for our shoulders and the other for our laps.

I may be overthinking it a bit… not going to lie. @SerraG has posted some great pictures of food and her commentary on taste and presentation has been very helpful in our decision making process. But I’m of the opinion that something has to at least sound appealing and that’s been severely lacking, in the app at least. And nobody should make their minds up based on the opinions of others…food taste and preferences are just too subjective.

 I love it when that happens.  I sleep so much better being gently rocked back and forth !

I really dont think of myself as a picky eater. If I'm invited to someone's house I will eat what is served.

I choose not to eat veal, lamb, duck, quail, beef cheeks or pigeon. Also leery of fish other than salmon. The foods I like are oysters, clams, shrimp, beef, chicken off the bone, pork, Pacific salmon and turkey.

I've only had 2 bad main entree in Luminae. It was a pork dish that was tough and over cooked. Luminae staff made a shrimp appetizer dish into a main entree. Last Nov it was a beef tenderloin.

The staff in Luminae are great.

Luminae seems better on M class than on E class , definitely has declined a bit since Covid. But E class gives you that great outside retreat, my last and next celebrity cruise is on summit in royal suite so we have free access to all specialty restaurants. Not willing to give up our suites.

They changed one Appetizer and 1 Protein dish each day.    Which of course means some of our favorites disappeared.

We had a really nice lunch in Luminae today. I had the Cobb salad and chilled pea and mint soup and DH had the Cajun shrimp pasta and tomato & goat cheese salad. Both were very good and beautifully presented.

and because it’s something I would never, ever in a million cruises order, much less make at home, I’m going to try the pigs feet carpaccio. I will report back!

Still holding on to the rails like I’ve had one too many… but up until today, it’s been very smooth.

 

 

- Hope it gets better. I am concerned for the last sea day as I do not do well with high seas/motion. On a scale, of 10 being worst, what would you gauge the rocking and rolling to be?

I am not bothered by the motion in terms of feeling sick but it was noticeable enough to have sea sickness bags posted and available in public restrooms and the evening show which included acrobatics was postponed until the the final night. By dinner time the motion was mostly smooth. If you think you’ll be bothered I recommend some Dramamine.

Yes, we did try the MDR on one of the evenings and had a great meal. I think I may be a little more critical of the food in Luminae than it really deserves. Some of the choices are odd (to me) but for the most part, pretty tasty.
