lnhoney Posted June 24 #1 Share Posted June 24 I am wondering if the head of 1 of the beds can be elevated. Having them made as 2 separate beds, can the cabin steward elevate the head of 1 bed? Should I bring my own blocks to elevate it? For health reasons.
CeleBrat Posted June 24 #2 Share Posted June 24 The beds are flat--you'll have to elevate it via your own method.
Rare Cruise Raider Posted June 24 #3 Share Posted June 24 You can most certainly request the head of the bed be elevated on one side. You may have very limited luck in finding they have a wedge pillow onboard so best to bring your own. If they have a couple of extra life vests onboard, those may also work for you. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted June 24 #4 Share Posted June 24 A few years back when we needed to have the head of the bed raised for medical reasons, the steward was more than happy to make that happen for us. You just need to ask.
lnhoney Posted June 24 Author #5 Share Posted June 24 Thank you for the idea about the life vests. I will bring my own blocks also. Always good to have back up plans.
lnhoney Posted June 24 Author #6 Share Posted June 24 Thank you Ken for confirming this can be done. Will make for a much more comfortable vacation.
Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted June 24 #7 Share Posted June 24 DH has to have it elevated, so he just uses many extra pillows (mine and DS's) to do so.
pedirn Posted June 24 #8 Share Posted June 24 This is what I take. Works great and deflated takes little room in luggage
lnhoney Posted June 24 Author #9 Share Posted June 24 Does that wedge just go under the sheet? Or mattress? Does it come with the pump to blow it up? I'll check amazon. Thank you
Rare geoherb Posted June 24 #10 Share Posted June 24 The ship's doctor told DH to elevate the foot of his side of the bed with a life jacket.
Bollycats Posted June 24 #11 Share Posted June 24 I asked my steward for extra pillows and for foam ones, not feather. Came back to the cabin and this is what I found! 1

Mflem1278 Posted June 24 #13 Share Posted June 24 I elevated my bed using the pillows that were on the couch (we had a mini-suite) and I put those pillows under the mattress. Worked perfect for me.
lnhoney Posted June 25 Author #14 Share Posted June 25 Is the cabin steward can't help I now have lots of options. Thank you all!
PR-Texas Posted June 25 #15 Share Posted June 25 Since you need the head of the bed elevated for health reasons, the inflatable wedge looks to me like the way to go. Reasonable price and it can be used for future trips without worrying whether the room steward can help. If you also purchase the mini pump which is smaller than a soda can you'd be set. Seems a cheap price to pay for guaranteed comfort.
happy42cruise Posted June 25 #16 Share Posted June 25 I have the inflatable wedge & a tiny pump that works perfectly to inflate & deflate the wedge. You can ask for a sheet to wrap around it or I usually use a pillow against it behind my back. Mine are from Amazon. The inflator has multiple nozzles for different inflatables.

Correct and you can also ask for the foot of the bed to be elevated as well using any spare life vests. They are glad to have a use of the vests instead of in case of an emergency!
