When I brought it up, she was 100% on board. She misses when I'm gone but she likes having full control of everything we home when I'm gone lol

I've been sailing solo since my beloved wife passed away.  It was strange in the beginning but over time since the end of the pandemic I've gotten accustomed.  I've met many wonderful people by the pool, Casino, MDR etc.  In addition. love the 2x points and getting closer to P level.

We're at 218 so we have a ways to go unfortunately. We're only in our 30s though, so we have time thankfully.

Well, jumping right in. After booking that symphony sailing solo, also added a 3 & 4 night solo on Allure in December to pair up with the 3 nighter on liberty that I have with my wife. I'll get off Allure and meet her on liberty that morning. Gotta love all the casino comps. Wife is all for it to work towards pinnacle.

Glad you decided to go for it, My wife passed last year and we cruised for may, many years. was unsure when I booked my first solo.. But I really enjoy the freedom. 11 cruises this year  8 will be solo.  Now planning next year..  Enjoy your travels..  Also working toward pinnacle 1 cruise at a time.....

I'm fixin' to sail solo for the first time this September and I cannot wait!! I work and take care of my special-needs sister and 84-year-old mother.  Every time I've cruised before I went with them, so being able to actually enjoy a cruise without having to think of accessibility concerns for them is going to be liberating, even if I had to say it was a "tech conference at sea... for work".  (To whoever you are who built the bogus site for a tech conference at sea, you are my hero!)

Nice!   Yes, casino comps are great and traveling solo will give you time to go to the casino whenever you want😉

I’m doing Symphony in October, too.  May be solo if my friend can’t join me.  I sail solo a lot and am very comfortable doing it - plenty of people to talk to if you want to be social and your day is determined by you.  I prefer Celebrity because of the smoke free casino and smaller ships, but it’s hard to turn down a comped junior suite for a sailing that I can drive to.  I think you will have a great cruise!

I’ll be sailing on Symphony in October with certain members of my family.  Always enjoy cruising with family and solo.  I enjoy planning every aspect that I can control. Got them hooked on cruising. My granddaughter addresses me as Poppi D++   🤣🤣

I did a solo cruise couple years ago, same reason as you except my husband had a major issue come up at work and couldn’t go. I was hesitant since I’m an introvert but cruise was paid for and he encouraged me to go. I wasn’t at all anxious about traveling on my own since we’ve cruised on RCL a dozen times and felt very comfortable. I grabbed a bunch of books, spent most of my days at the pool and solarium reading and people watching. I did meet some wonderful people at a casino slot pull and even had dinner with them couple times. Would I do it again? Probably not since I missed my hubs and we really enjoy our cruises together, yet I’m glad I experienced solo cruising!

I really like solo cruising

When I'm with family I always feel responsible for making sure they are having a good time as that is just how I am. When I'm solo I can plan things or wing it. I enjoy the spontaneity and not feeling responsible to anyone except me. That is not something I get to experience often.

I agree with your last comment about why spend time away from your spouse voluntarily if it’s not required (work, for example). Of course if you don’t like your spouse than cruising alone might be very appealing. 🙂

I've actually cruised twice with my ex-spouse.  😄

I'd like to try a solo cruise but at this point, since my wife has more points than me (from her own solo cruises), it wouldn't help us chase Pinnacle.

I'm chasing Pinnacle too. However, it seems that I don't run fast enough to catch it.😏

According to the plan, which of course can be derailed for dozens of reasons, Pinnacle is within reach for us. Still a ways off though.

It feels a very long ways off for sure. With what we have booked, we'll cross the 300 point mark by spring of next year. With both of us in our early to mid 30s, I figure by the time we hit 50 I think.

The best part about this cruise was getting quadruple points (thanks Covid) for booking a balcony cabin for solo, we reached Diamond +.
