Bliss Haven questions

Recommended Posts

After getting onboard are there tours of the Haven for its guests? When is it typically done?  I know it’s not a lot of spaces and we could easily explore on our own just wondering if there’s something official.

Is there any thing we’d miss out on in the Haven if we go explore the rest of the ship before our room’s ready?

Welcome to Cruise Critic!

You will be scorned from the terminal to the Haven. The concierge will give you a welcome speech and set you lose. Ask a lot of questions. Horizon Lounge. library. Courtyard. Sun deck. Haven lounge. Haven bar. Have restaurant.

Just please, please do not be the people on our Epic sailing last year. A woman came up to the concierge desk and demanded a tour of the Haven the first day. She went into full "Karen" mode. I mean, the butlers and concierges are extremely busy the first day. Give them a break!

She got the side-eye from us the rest of the cruise.

I’m far more likely to not ask for things because I don’t want to be a bother. Besides, we’re perfectly able to walk around ourselves for a tour.

Been on the Bliss and in the Haven many times. Whoever brings you up the elevator will take you to the Haven Observation lounge, Concierge or an assistant will give a speech. Sometimes they offer a tour and other times they don't. We go to our cabin after the speech, drop our luggage off, get a drink at the Haven bar. Sit in lounge, or Observation, then get lunch on the Haven restaurant. Go to cabin and unpack. You can check out anywhere in the Haven and Haven outside decks any time you wish. There is an elevator you can take to decks, 18 and 19.

I think there was a focus on tours the days of NCL past.  Resources are strapped.  The last 2 Haven cruises from the port of Miami had people working for NCL in the port escort you on the ship. It used to be butlers that did that.  I remember getting tours through the Epic but that Haven area had hidden areas like Posh and back stairs to the gym, etc.  The Breakaway Plus is just 3 decks on top of each other.  A tour would be less necessary.

Each port may do things differently but I have not seen a butler escort you on the ship in Miami for many years.

🤯 -- Another example of "Nickel-n-dime Cruise Line" cutting back, but still charging more!!!

We were on the Bliss on the June 8 sailing in the Haven.  We ONLY travel with carryons - so we had a rollaboard and a backpack and lugged it onboard so we wanted to drop it in our forward facing suite on Deck 12.  We boarded about 1045, and after muster station we were escorted to the Haven lounge on Deck 17.  We asked Patrick, the concierge, if we could drop our bags and he sent us along with another employee to our cabin to drop our bags.

The tour for the first group of Haven guests happened while we were going to Deck 12 and then back to the Haven lounge.  After we dropped our bags we went down to Decks 7 and 8, checked out the restaurants there, found the theaters and clubs, and then wandered up to find the gym.

When we got back another group of Haven guests were being escorted into the lounge.  Honestly - we ignored the tour and walked to the observation lounge, saw the pool area, went upstairs to Deck 18, wandered around the Haven outdoor lounge area [where we never set foot again because of the cold weather in Alaska!] and when we came back downstairs about 1130am or so the restaurant was open for lunch.

Honestly, 99% of what the Haven has is readily available on Youtube videos and elsewhere - not sure you really need a 'tour' per se/.

What is there to see in a tour you can't see for yourself?

Enter the lounge - oooh, there is a desk for the concierge.

Then - the bar around the corner.

After than, a pool area, lounge chairs and a warm tub.

Keep going forward - a lounge - and a beverage area.  If you're lucky you'll see a server every 15 min.

Around back is a bathroom.

Out back to the lounge - oooh, a elevator to the left-  then - stairs upstairs.

Go upstairs, see the restaurant - sit inside - or outside. \

Forward is the Haven outside lounge area - two more warm tubs and lots of lounge chairs -

Thats it.  Ready to get off in a port?  Back to the lounge.  Ask at the concierge desk.  Follow said employee to the elevator.  Down = show card - off - to get back on reverse the process.

Seriously.  A tour?

Yes, a tour. I have a brain injury and am traveling with teens who have mild autism and anxiety. Having someone we can interact with, and we can get to know, will help us feel more relaxed. I don’t know if there’s extra information they may have for us too. Information that will take extra energy from us to find. The more crew members that we get to know the more people we all feel comfortable going to for help.

I’ve watched all the videos I can find but that doesn’t replace a personal touch.

In the future, please remember you don’t know everyone’s circumstances and why they’re asking.
