I Love The Promenade

Recommended Posts

Currently on Voyager Deck 4, sitting outside on the promenade, watching shuffleboard and under the lifeboats, gazing at the sea. My favorite place on any cruise ship.

Have later Royal classes eliminated the promenade? It did not exist on the newer Princess ship I was on last year. Such a mistake to eliminate it in favor of more paid restaurants or to expand the casino or whatever.

Oasis class ships have one but much of the view is obstructed by lifeboats. Quantum class ships also have one with very nice views but you hit dead ends both forward and aft so you can't get from one side to the other without going inside the ship.

I know what you mean .  I like that area outside too and will either sit or just walk laps (sometimes you have to go up a deck though if you want the full circle).

If I'm not mistaken, Oasis class has the jogging track there, so you can walk but not sit.  Mind you, on Wonder they did have some seats aft.

Not really a promenade per se, it is merely a running track on Oasis and Allure ships, but at least they added two small glassed in "seating" areas on the newer Oasis class ships.

Lack of a true promenade is one of the main reasons why we won't sail on any RCL ship above Freedom class.

Same. Even when we book a room with a balcony, we spend most of our time down on Deck 4. So peaceful and quiet.

My wife is a sun worshiper. She can lay on the pool deck all day. Not me. I spend time on every cruise sitting on the promenade deck. Sometimes with a cigar (where it's allowed) or sometimes just sitting and watching the sea go by.

On the Quantum class ships, they have the Royal Esplanade. It's set up more like a mall, but they don't have any parades or "street parties".

They are not talking about the Royal Promenade, they are talking about the outside deck called the Promenade deck.

Doh! Sorry about that! Disregard then.

Same here. I'm careful about skin cancer so the promenade deck is great.
