Our TA told us that it is against O policy to rebate. He added gratuities and OBC which added up to about 6%.

Yes and you know what agency I use that does rebate and is very public about it. They are a big producer for Oceania and just before he became CEO,they hosted the current President at their headquarters.

Got email from my terrific TA listing about a dozen cruises with deep discounts.  They were not short dated.  When I looked at availability, there were lots of cabins.  While some cruises sell out, others may not.  Whatever happens, it may be attractive to some and not for others. You can’t please everyone. That’s not Oceania’s objective. Their objective is profit.  It’s nice to know that I was not alone with my objections to mandatory simply more.  Given a choice, simply more might be ok on some cruises.

How do you find a travel agency like the one you use?

Asking fellow passangers on board is a good way to identify preferred TAs that have lots of experience with and connections to O.  That way you can ask about service as well as as perks.

Cannot name agencies on CC. Over ten years ago, I guess before the "no naming" rules were in effect someone on CC recommended them and I have been pretty satisfied.

Although CC has a ban on naming agencies on the forum, its parent company, Tripadvisor, has no such qualms. Check out TA's cruise forum.

Actually CC has no qualms about naming them itself. I originally got the name of the TA I use here in the UK, from an article on the main CC website which listed most British cruise specialists. I don't know if it has similar list for American agencies, as I've never looked for it.

I have never been able to locate a cruise forum on TA. I must be doing something wrong.

Same…I just tried and gave up. 🤷‍♀️ I’m looking for a new TA (The one I have isn’t particularly good - I think I know more than her and I can never get a quick reply when I need one - so frustrating)

A couple of years ago I got my hands slapped by CC for naming my TA in the forums.

One suggestion is to read the blogs of the World cruisers.  i am not talking about the posts on CC.  Many of them also have their own blogs.  They will mention their TAs.  That is how I found mine.  I have been more than happy with her. She works for an agency that does big volume, but i get wonderful personal service.

She is an Expert in Cruise and Travel.

That is all i can say.
