TammyClam915 Posted Thursday at 06:26 PM #1 Share Posted Thursday at 06:26 PM Ahoy! So My husband and I will be on the Carnival Conquest on election night this year, specifically a Fun Day at Sea... without getting the internet access, which we really do try to avoid when we cruise, will there be anywhere on the ship, a bar, for example, where they will be playing an American News Network so that we can keep up with the progress? Thanks to anyone that has specific information!

Thanks to anyone that has specific information! It stands to reason that many people will have internet access and that’s the kind of news that’ll spread like wildfire. We’ll be on the Carnival Miracle, we fully expect there will be plenty of buzz on the ship. We had at least one TV news channel on the cabin TV in June & August this year. ProgRockCruiser Posted Thursday at 07:11 PM #4 Share Posted Thursday at 07:11 PM It depends on whether the CBS National News streaming channel they carry on the cabin TV is "live" or somehow canned or delayed. That's the only source of news that I know you could count on.

Crusin Karen Posted Thursday at 07:33 PM #6 Share Posted Thursday at 07:33 PM I’ve never been on a ship that doesn’t have at least one news channel on the cabin tv. I’m SURE the election will be covered all day (and night!)

That is the only news channel Carnival carries in the cabins. 2

I was on Seashore recently, you should have plenty of options for live television, news or otherwise. They had quite a few channels you typically would not have in the US.
EarloftheSeas Posted Thursday at 09:19 PM #10 Share Posted Thursday at 09:19 PM I've seen live congressional hearings on the ship's CBS streaming channel in 2023 and the entire week of the Democratic convention this past August -- all live programming. I can't see why it would carry canned news on one of the bigger news nights this year. 🙂

I was on the Liberty for the DNC convention and was able to watch it live and on replay on the CBS 24 hour channel in my room. It was the only news channel. I think sometimes the ships out of FL may grab an international channel but I can't remember.
mz-s Posted Thursday at 10:05 PM #13 Share Posted Thursday at 10:05 PM There is a CBS News channel on the in-cabin TVs that you can watch, or you can buy wifi and follow along on the internet, but it will not be shown in public spaces by Carnival.

Thanks to anyone that has specific information! 8 years ago I watched results from the casino bar and then a few people had a small take over of the red frog pub bar tv to finish watching after casino bar shut down. geckoaz Posted Friday at 03:21 AM #15 Share Posted Friday at 03:21 AM I am on the firenze. The CBS channel in the cabin carried the VP debate live so my bet is that it will have election results too. Enjoy your cruise. 1

DeniseTr Posted Friday at 01:15 PM #17 Share Posted Friday at 01:15 PM I'm about to board going to do my best to avoid all coverage for next 10 days. That being said, we were on RCL when BinLaden was killed, and they had the news report up on the big pool screen, fairly sure it will be al over the ship on eection day. nwcruiselover Posted Friday at 09:14 PM #19 Share Posted Friday at 09:14 PM I sailed on the Vista TA from Barcelona on Election Day of 2016. Carnival had a conference room set up and showed the election returns on a big screen in the middle of the night Barcelona time. It was quite well attended, considering the time of night. Probably at least 200 - 250 people. Everyone was polite and considerate and while one side or the other cheered when certain state returns came in, no one was rowdy or drunk. I doubt they do that now, but it was really nice to have that available back then.

DanJ Posted 22 hours ago #25 Share Posted 22 hours ago John Heald already has said Carnival will not be showing election results in public spaces, only whatever you can get on your cabin TV, or online if you subscribe.
