I read at their website that at Celebrity you can drop off your things in your stateroom and then you have to leave and wait until it's ready. But I will be in steerage of course. 😄

Good to get rid of encumbrances, but so much nicer to be able to take possession of your cabin immediately and start getting organised.

Time for a view of our Q5 room

just measured and the room is 18’x21 which 378 Sq Ft as opposed to Cunard reporting about 500’.

I think it is 500 if you include the balcony.

I agree, but I think I can live with Celebrity's system as well. What I would definitely not like is having to drag our luggage around.

Following along on Cunard too…

Is there an in suite coffee maker or kettle or available on request?

Could you possibly post some balcony pictures?

There is a kettle in all staterooms, and Illy coffee machines in Club Britannia staterooms and suites.

Love.  Do you find it hard to get into bed? 🙃

Also, is that a divider between the facilities and the room?  That’s a nice touch.

LOL --- I thought I caught all of those.    CC often gets it's orientation messed up.   To correct you have to edit the photo turn the orientation 4 times and then save.     About 1/2 the room pictures originally posted upside down.

You may have posted while I was in fixing the orientation as the original is now correct.

The room has a dressing room / closet in between the bedroom and bathroom with a curtain for privacy.

One thing noticeably missing is a nightlight in the bathroom.   Let me tell you it was totally black when I made me way in last night.

Another which is really minor is they do not have q-tips.   They only supply cotton swabs.

It was much the same on Cunard.   We went directly to our room and the room was totally setup.   We dropped our hand luggage secured our valuables in the safe and went to lunch.

When we got back from lunch our butler had delivered our luggage to our room instead of leaving it in the hallway.   Nice touch.

Another thing I like is the have live Orchids in our room.   One nice Phalaenopsis on the vanity and a Cymbidium  blossom in a bowl on the table in the foyer.

I use to breed Orchids and still have a fondness for them.

The decor so far looks very nice.  A bit of a change.

Very pleased with our room.    Even thought there isn't a separate bedroom it works...I brought my Bose Headphones with me and connect them via Bluetooth to the TV.   That way if I awaken early I won't disturb  Iain.

Crazy thing is when I awoke this morning Iain was already up and dressed.    I guess I was worn out.

I am sure there are.    In a Grills Suite they have both in your room without asking.

Here’s the balcony. IMG_0403.thumb.jpeg.2300b10b28066ad70494c0fcfae4b4eb.jpeg

Just ask your butler, he/she will get you what you need.   Is Osman in the QG Restaurant?

Yes Osman is in the dining room and as described is always omnipresent.

We specifically asked for a quiet location.    Wasn't fond of how many of the 2 tops are only inches away from one another.    He found us a nice location that has a wall on one side and a walkway between us and adjacent tables.

It was a treat to speak with him.   We had  Matre'd on Silhouette when I came down with Covid.   Laurant (previously worked for Cunard) and Osman said he was really proud of her.   He had trained her as an Assistant MD and said he knew she had great potential.

She had kept everyone with 10 feet from our table knowing we were on a B3B.   She even called the room when she learned of our isolation and sent things to our room for us.

I always bring a motion sensor from the dollar store. Fits great in the receptacle and it won’t break my heart if I forget it.

WRT orchids, I used to pay $1 for them at the market next to us in Florida. I recall being totally shocked to see them growing in the trees in our neighborhood. That was an aha moment for me. Of course, I don’t live there anymore but it sure was enlightening!

Night Lights are little low voltage plug in's to give nightime visibility while not bright enough to disturb.   Celebrity has them built into the base of the cabinets in the bathroom.

Not sure what British may call Q-Tips --  just googled... they call them Cotton Buds.

That is one thing most people don't know about Orchids.   They are epiphytes and grown on tree trunks and branches.   They are often grown in redwood bark or other substrate.   Most people kill their orchids by over watering them.    In nature they go dry and suck up moisture both by humidity and daily rain ---- they hate soggy roots.

Way too much information but they are also one of the most ancient plant forms and their seeds lack endosperm.   They need a fungi in a symbiotic relationship to survive until photosynthesis begins.   That's why they have to be bread in sterile flasks with a gelatin with the specific fungus.

Another interesting aspect is they do not have pollen like most plants .   The pollen is in little waxy balls that attach to insects to be transported.

Regarding Qtips, there are sometimes interesting translation problems on these Cunard boards between British and American English. Just make sure you both are not wearing “pants” and “vests” for tonight’s Gala night…

I'm pretty up to date with the differences.   When we moved to Ireland Iain would have to translate for me.

I chuckle when I recall a HR Director was visiting and told the staff she had brought them Fanny Packs... jaws dropped and she later asked what she had said wrong. ...

One of my fist purchases were a Valance.... (US something at the top of a Curtain) -  British -  a dust ruffle.

We may speak the same language but so many quirky differences...

American's would never say "Keep your pecker up"  --- LOL

That is what I've read and looking forward to.  As you say some of the more passionate can really make one believe the opposite and I look forward to help dispel this myth.

Sometimes the more passionate can really make it difficult to understand things like dress code.  That subject can be such a hot button I will only be pointing out what we experience and see and stay out of the politics.

We will be wear Tux on Formal evenings and probably sports jackets over collared shirts.   We often wear bow ties with our sports jackets on Smart Casual.

Looking forward to your travels and comparison with Silhouette.  We love the QM2.  We've done 6 cruises on her so far.  Several TAs, Caribbean and New England cruises.  I am glad to see that departure from Red Hook has improved.  Last few times were terrible and we switched back to Celebrity (we're Elite on Celebrity) out of Bayonne which is more convenient for us NJ folks.

We're scheduled on the Silhouette in June 2025 to Bermuda.

Don't miss the pre- and post-dinner cocktails in the Commodore Club.  We also love the afternoon tea and having lunch at the Golden Lion Pub. The pub also has trivia each night.

Don't forget to look for Bart Simpson on one of the main hallway panels to the left of the Statue of Liberty.  So many people have touched him that he looks like he's wearing down.

Bon Voyage!

Welcome neighbor.    My father lived in Cupertino next door to Apple's Original Headquarters.    He would meet his buddies at the Donut  Wheel every morning.  I'm guessing it is still there.

Was last time I was on DeAnza blvd there.

She said she felt so bad for you because you'd been so careful.

She was a great Maitre'd for us on the Silhouette.  I hope she's still around.

And from an earlier topic about grilled cheese.  We had it one night on the X Solstice last spring.  They cut the crusts off.
