I see you are on the Mariner in January. Is this a Holyland Cruise?

I have relatives in Rehovot I hope to meet on our Cruise in October.

I have been fighting a cold for 3 days now so havent been able to get my thoughts together for a review of the Mariner of the Seas 3-18-12. I will be posting pictures up within the week, hopefully. If anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to answer them if I can.

Yup. Funny thing is it was so warm I mostly just sat outside on our balcony and let my hair air dry....:D

Oh just a thought for those of you cruising anytime soon...when you arrive at check in that give you a set of 2-4 "wow" cards. These are for anyone who does an awesome job on the ship and you wish to praise them. Anyhow we lost 2 of them, and found out while on the cruise that the only place to get them is at check in...NOT on the ship....so just a word to the wise (don't lose them).

I will probabbly give them to the

1. Dishwashers (Always clean plates)

2. Line handlers (tie up the ship so we can go ashore)

3. Laundry (clean sheets)

4. Public spaces cleaners (always clean)

I think they may just give them out at random. No one in our group of 6 got them on our March 4 cruise.

Your video was excellent! What type of camera did you use for the underwater portion? I like the way your video flowed from port to port.

I used a cheap Kodak Sport underwater camera. If it's not a sunny day - the videos come out completely green, and you can only go down 10 feet with them, so they are definitely only for snorkeling. I guess I get what I pay for!

Thanks for the info. We are only going to snorkel---in the South Pacific!

I was on the March 25, 2012 sailing of Mariner of the Seas. I have seen people set up video cameras of arrivals and departures and create a time lapse of it and I wanted to give that a try. These 2 videos are our arrival into Galveston on April 1.

I was on the starboard side of the ship with the camera facing forward in the first video. You can see the Carnival Magic ahead of us from about 10 seconds into until 40 seconds. We turn around at the 2:11 mark. This video is about 20 minutes compressed to a little over 3 minutes. Here is a link to the video on Vimeo.

For the second video, I stopped the camera after we started backing up from turning around and pointed it toward the back of the ship. You can see us pass the Carnival ship as it is docking at around 1:01. This video is 26 minutes compressed into a little over 4 minutes. Here is a link to the second video on Vimeo.

Great job

Do you have any other videos of the cruise that you want to share?

Only noticed smoking in Wig & Gavel and one level (upper) of Dragon's Lair. None observed in Schooner Bar, Bolero's or Lotus Lounge (adjacent is the cigar lounge but it is very well sealed off). Casino was about 50% non-smoking at slot machines BUT that really did not help much as the whole area was very smokey. There was also smoking at the Sky Bar but not at the Pool Bar (that I saw) although there was a large smoking section on one side of the pool level.
