Hi Everyone,

Just wondering?? We are doing a back to back on Adventure in March. Does anyone know what the procedure is? Last year on the Serenade we got to stay on the ship, but I thought I read that you must leave the ship and wait for it to open to re-board.

Hi,

Which sailings are you on? We have a few folks on our sailing that are doing B2B in March as well. Feel free to pop over to our link and ask them. I think a few have done this before as well.

Our group cruised on AOS about 5 years ago and loved it! We wanted to do the Southern Caribbean itinerary, so when we saw AOS we jumped at the opportunity without question! It was a great ship, and I am certain it still is! I read reviews about supposedly unruly Puerto Ricans when I researched my last cruise on AOL, and all I have to say to that is what a bunch of bunk!! I never witnessed anything but cordial, fun and lively people the whole cruise! And what a great place to board the ship! Puerto Rico was like a mini trip to Spain! It felt so much like Sevilla did when I went there. Please don't let these nay-sayers detract you from your excitement! It's a great ship and a GREAT embarkation port!

If you sail on the AOS , and play at the Casino, and WIN at the casino, thats a good thing→ right.? Now let's say you take the winnings, in grren chips (4) put them in your Dress pants pocket (after the Last formal) and never reach back into that pocket till you arrive home, a week later→ Is that a bad thing.?

In other words- I'm wondering - will RCCL take the 4 chips back somehow..mail etc etc....and let me cash them out now.? Or am I stuck with them..????

Tapatalk is acting up.

You can not mail in the chips. We asked this very question of the casino cashier on Jewel of the Seas last month. She said they would rather you trade them in on the same ship but you can go ahead and take them on any RCI ship and redeem them for their cash value.

At the risk of this sounding like a scam, we're sailing AOS in March. If you want to mail me the chips, I will be happy to try to cash them in. And if they will cash them in, I will send you the money. And if they won't cash them in, I can send you the chips back to prove I didn't keep the money.

I was going to suggest the same thing.

You cannot be stuck with casino chips, they are like cash. You just need to cash them in the right casino.

RCCL says you can cash out on the AOS, & probably ONLY the AOS....so sorry you have to 'Book another cruise" !!! They have no cash-in program.. ► WHY NOT???

Personally..I think that's the scam and it sucks..

WELL THANKS !! BirdyLady

I will keep your scam-like sounding idea IN MIND and PM you if need be. Of course I'll need your address, home phone, your social, and first born's social when we proceed. :D

Seems to be no other way to get your money back..!

You can email me at quakerzon at yahoo dot com. From there you can have almost all the info you might need. My first born (second, my avatar, and third) have no SSNs, so I can't give you that.

Just drop me a note if you want. I'll be happy to help if I can.

We so so loved our back to back these past two weeks. The best food, service and fun we have had in a long time. Better service than on the Allure in December!!!!

You are welcome. I am really glad to hear that you had such a great time. I realize that it is not something that I should take personally but when I really like something and talk it up to other people I feel badly if it turns out that they don't enjoy it.

Boy, I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. :D

We returned last week from our first cruise on the AOS. I will say that there were more Puerto Ricans on this cruise than our previous cruises on the Serenade. This is probably because there are more last minute rooms to fill up as I noticed most were in lower level interior rooms. There were more children on this February sailing than I would have expected since I assumed most children would be in school. That said, the Puerto Ricans were great! They stayed with their children, had fun, were always cheerful and I did not observe any of the rudeness mentioned by others. In fact, my observation was that the Americans were the rudest on the ship. Actually, we didn't observe any really rude behavior by anyone and felt like everyone else was there to also have a fun vacation.

The embarkation and debarkation issues seemed to have been resolved for the most part. We were on and off in less than an hour.

The Cruise Director, Richard Spacey, was fantastic and the food was very good. Our Hubbies LOVED the cigar lounge and I loved the number of pool chairs and being able to get a pool chair at any time during the two sea days. All in all, it was a great week!

NemoCrownie- Do you know how long Richard Spacey is going to be on the ship? We are sailing on March 18th. I have heard conflicting stories if he will still be there or not.

Also glad to hear the embarkation and debarkation issues seem to be worked out. What time did you get to the port?

Thanks.

Ahhh Ocean Boy!!! We are both so passionate about our favorite ships! It was great to see Augustino from the Explorer as supervisor of Windjammer. We met him back in 06 in Portofino's! He just came on a month ago. He wasn't thrilled about how "they" did things there. lol

I usually don't write reviews. I do have some thoughts tho:

To anyone that is on the fence about the sea calling....just do it....don't waste years researching about debarking out of San Juan. Yes it is not the easiest port but this port does not allow embarkation until 1230 at the earliest. Last person off the ship is listed as 1120 on luggage tag paperwork. Then any b2b people are handled if they are remaining on the ship. (we got off the ship at 9am and piece of cake. We came back about 3 and easy on!) Now if what is holding you back is air fare....so noted! That was one of my hangups. After these past two amazing weeks....I will started looking sooner.

Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Ship goes into dry dock in 2014 for some needed TLC. It will be exciting to have great internet in the rooms. Some fresh carpet would be great. Nothing that ruined our vacation.

We did have some of the locals on board but very very friendly. Rudeness was from over seas guests and notably from Spain sorry to say. We ended up on several tours with a large group from Barcelona. Thank goodness our driver spoke english.

Little sad about St Croix....major oil refinery closing.....large amount of people losing jobs and housing.....ships don't want to come there due to crime rate. Yet the people we met were wonderful.

We had some rain and lots of sun. Many many laughs with our fantastic table mates both weeks. The best waiter and asst waiter in all of our cruises. Excellent doesn't seem enough. Special shout out to Anthony and Wilmar from the Phillipines.

Concierge Fernando...well let's say he was checked out already as he was leaving on vacation yesterday. He let everyone know he had been with the company a year but left out the part only filling in and just for three weeks. Very inexperienced. We didn't receive our tours as part of our diamond plus benefits. He didn't seem to care. Not much food for happy hour either. We did have some well behaved children one or two evenings.

The two gentleman on board from Spain for six months made each evening interesting with the outfits they wore.

Again...thanks to Robyn and Ocean Boy for my endless questions. Even tho I have sailed many times on the sister ship Explorer....sailing from San Juan just seemed a little scary. I can surely see why this ship is so loved as well. My husband and I said we have a new home....not that we don't love our Explorer....she needs a new schedule....we so loved the ports and we were also reminded that just because you fly or drive to a florida port to board doesn't always mean you are going to be warm! Just to feel the warmth getting off the plane....oh what a wonderful feeling. I came home to Delaware in my capris and flip-flops in freezing cold temps.....but I had the heater turned up in the car!

Now to get the next b2b booked for next year!!!! Look out here we come again!!!!

Erika, he is saying that this week is his last on Adventure....he is going to Explorer.....!

Janique

Sadly this is his last week and he is going to the Explorer. I am under the impression he is alternating with Jimmy Rhodes. Not sure on that. Katie the activities director said he has been the best to work with. We laughed so so hard.

As the ship is very port intensive the activities list is not as great like other ships. so many people do not participate. sad. So they have activities that have been proven in the past that they do get attendance. It was enough probably as we had many over seas guests. they don't seem to do the usual bingo and so forth nor trivias or even karaoke.

But omg...Richard Spacey does the BEST QUEST!!!! My ribs still hurt from laughing....Love and Marriage was awesome....I said several times..honey looks like we are going to have to go back to the Explorer....cause Richard will be onboard...hmmmmm we fell in love with the Adventure tho....

Thank you for the update! This will be our 5th cruise ... 3rd time on the AOS ... We TOTALLY ove this ship!!!

We are from Upstate NY (near Albany) ... colder than Delaware ... We've only sailed from San Juan for the exact reason that with our cold we want warm & sun immediately ... San Juan is a better climate to start in!

We've had great airfare leaving from Bradley in Hartford, CT .... I'm hoping with the Southwest - AirTran merger ... Southwest will fly from Albany, NY to San Juan!!!!
