raina*faith Posted June 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2008 While on the roll call thread I've been noticing that there are a lot of threads for the beginning of the year and some for the end/middle of the year, but I wanted to see if there was a preference for when folks like to cruise and why? Winter Spring Summer Fall I guess it could depend on where you're coming from, but I just wanted to see what was the most popular.
Jtd724 Posted June 4, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2008 Spring, May specifically.
Barbee524 Posted June 4, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2008 Any time of year works for me. Though I really prefer not to go in the summer. We have such a short time of great weather in Chicago I'd rather be in town for it than away.
lady_cruiser Posted June 4, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2008 January : We celebrate my sister's birthday while on a cruise. Schools/colleges are in session for there is a limited amount of kids-gone-wild onboard. Living in the South I don't have to worry about flight delays, etc so I have an easy time getting to the port(s).
Ocean Boy Posted June 4, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 4, 2008 I prefer March. It gives us something to look forward to during the coldest part of winter. Then when we get back it is just a short time before the weather starts turning nice around here. It also seems to be a great weather in the Caribbean that time of year. linkerbink Posted June 4, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2008 My sister and I usually cruise in spring or fall, when it is the easiest for her to find the time to go. I prefer fall because it's usually warmer and don't have to worry about running into hordes of college kids! Also less likely to run into weather problems from Pennsylvania to the departure port. PattyG12 Posted June 4, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2008 It's a reminder that Spring will, indeed, come!
nlcentralchmps03 Posted June 4, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 4, 2008 I like to sail in the late May, early June range if we can. The waters seem to be warm enough to swim and the weather has been nice for us, as well as the seas (knock on wood), for every cruise we have taken. glgolfer Posted June 4, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 4, 2008 You need an anytime or all of the above, which is my vote. Retired, living in Florida.
fllchick Posted June 4, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 4, 2008 Definitely November/December. It's something to look forward to at the end of hurricane season. Plus, since the weather in S. Fla is so disgustingly hot in the summer, there's no way I'd travel somewhere even hotter!
jerin Posted June 4, 2008 #11 Share Posted June 4, 2008 Fall. It's cooling off; it's not very crowded. We don't mind a bumpy ride or surprises.
Gonzo70 Posted June 4, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 4, 2008 Definitely winter for me; I love escaping the frigid Chicago winter.

snausman Posted June 4, 2008 #14 Share Posted June 4, 2008 I am another one for anytime we can go. Least favriote is Summer or spring break. During spring break we will only take the longer cruises so as not to have to sail with the college kids. Laura
Saracruise Posted June 4, 2008 #15 Share Posted June 4, 2008 We love to cruise in the fall, especially October. When we come back home the weather has changed significantly from the week before we left!
CajunCruisers Posted June 4, 2008 #16 Share Posted June 4, 2008 We like February so we don't have to worry about Hurricane Season (we live in Louisiana). It is also not so crowded everywhere and the rates are better. We are already booked for 2/22/09 on the Voyager! Janie

Janie You will be on the Voyager during my birth date (February 26th) so please think of me and have a drink while doing so. We go with the group known as the Sail-a-Way with C.J. and Debbie Ray so we really don't have a choice of when we sail. This past year worked out good because we were on the Voyager during my sister's birthday.
shipknotshore Posted June 4, 2008 #19 Share Posted June 4, 2008 We'll cruise in any season except summer. Cruising the Caribbean in the winter is probably our favorite time tho.
rummenroman Posted June 4, 2008 #20 Share Posted June 4, 2008 I choose the winter option, cuz it seems like that is the cheapest time a year to sail, and also living in a cold weather state it sure is nice to head to somewhere warm in the middle of winter!!! cot427 Posted June 4, 2008 #23 Share Posted June 4, 2008 Fall - October in specific. We love to go in Sept/Oct because most kids at back in school, not to crowded with them, the weather is always great (except for 2005 Wilma), its not to cold, and not to hot, and the ports are not crowded with ships coming back from other places in the world yet. Reijo Posted June 4, 2008 #25 Share Posted June 4, 2008 Summer or early Fall (August or September) during hurricane season. Rates are MUCH cheaper. I just make sure that we buy insurance.
