Elite perks

I am diamond on Roy Carribean and have a few questions on Elite perks:

- drinks that you get: just in lounge or 3 during cocktail hours at any bar like RCCL?

-internet: nice amount of minutes. As slow as other cruise ships?

-laundry: do you advise getting one laundry bag done or do they ruin the clothes?

-elegant tea: what the heck is that?

-Persian garden: what is that?

Really no smoking in casino? I have asthma so that would be sweet.

Thanks.

Yes, really no smoking in the casino or anywhere inside the ship.

As for the Elite Drinks it depends on how many Elites are sailing. Normally it's held from 5-7 in one of the bigger lounges and you can drink off of a specific menu. If there are a LARGE number of Elites then you are issued 3 coupons per person per day (they are dated and have you name and stateroom # on them). They are good at most bars and you can order your drink off the Captain's Club menu there. (RCCL does a much better version of this with their Diamond Lounge and having drinks loaded on your sea pass card.)

Elegant is tea in the MDR one sea day with tiny tea sandwiches, cakes, scones, etc. It's nice if you like tea. We try and always go as I love tea and the scones are usually to die for.

As Elite you get 90 minutes of free internet time. It's slow.

We've had laundry done in the past. Mostly now I just send DH's socks, sweatpants, t-shirts, undergarments. I usually don't send my clothes.

Hope this helps a bit.

Elegant tea is a traditional British style tea service, little cakes tea sandwiches etc. fancy schmanshy. Proper dress required.

Persian Garden is a section of the Canyon Ranch Spa that has various sauna, steams showers and heated benches. On M class for example, there are 2 showers that you press buttons to get different styles showers (real rainforest like rain shower, side body sprays, mists, splashy side sprinklers, and normal head shower head options), there is a eucalyptus scented steam room, a regular non scented steam room, a hot dry sauna room, and a lounge area with tiled benches heated and body formed to apply heat to the lower back and neck, great for relieving those stresses on those spots.

It is a co-ed facility, so bathing suits are required.

And here's a good post about the Elite cocktail hour, with a copy of the menu of drinks allowed within it. DO note that the specific times locations, etc can vary ship to ship and itinerary to itinerary, and this post is from 2013 on Eclipse.

The PG on S class is much brighter and not as exotic: a quiet room of warm ceramic tile benches, a steam room and a dry heat room. There are a couple of showers with varying spritz. They are co-ed. The locker rooms have traditional sauna which is, of course, not co-ed. There are signs posted requesting you wear bathing attire or a towel for the comfort of other guests. I go in there when there are no guests, sans wrapping.

I would suggest if you use your laundry coupons you do not send any smart casual clothes, just exercise clother, underwear, jeans. Had pair of new slacks ruined as they were returned limp looking like pajamas.

I always keep a list of what I send as on recent cruise got quite a few items that did not belong to us. Have heard other stories of laundry mix ups.

We recently moved from Elite to Elite + but did not gain many additional perks.

I am sure problems do happen, but as a another experience...I send at least one bag per cruise. It is casual stuff, exercise clothes, underwear, t-shirts and jeans.

Everything has come back in perfect condition - I've used their laundry at least 20+ times without incident.

I wouldn't send formal wear, and do believe that the poster above had trouble with her slacks - just offering another experience.

As the previous posts have taken care of all the other questions I will only add re the laundry

We only send things that clearly state can be tumble dried or even only those for high settings

We always make sure we're happy for it to all go in together so watch colours

Something's are returned on hangers which is great as it saves them needing a press

We therefore like others end up with underwear, socks, nightwear, gym stuff, jeans always come back ok, shorts, cotton shirts and t shirts

I've taken the chance on dresses and skirts but selected carefully cotton ones and they have been fine

Nothing has ever shrunk but they do add labels and we've had a flimsy blouse tear when taking off the label. Apparently you should leave it on until it's next wash and take it off whilst the garment is wet

I'm Elite and you'd think I'd know this, but I usually travel with DH (also Elite) so it has never come up. Let's say I take a cruise with my daughter, same cabin. I know I've read that she would be welcome with me at the Elite Cocktail Hour or breakfast, but would she also get drink coupons if the ship is using the voucher system? Would she get the page of Elite coupons?

I doubt it, and why should she? If the free elite drinks are being served in a particular lounge, then it makes sense that access is granted to companions in the same cabin. That way you can be in the same lounge together. But if it's just vouchers that can be used anywhere, there is no legitimate reason to give them to traveling companions, as they can still join you in whatever lounge you choose to visit to redeem yours. :)

On our recent cruise, the Elegant Tea was held in the Blu restaurant. You should dress in sporty casual and the food is real good!

The Internet package is 90 free minutes per Elite member but it is REAL slow.

I never send my stuff to the laundry. They use very hot water. DH sends a lot of his stuff, though. The elegant tea is okay, but nicer if it is held in Blu. The food can often be found in the buffet at tea time. Internet, slow and difficult to use. Happy hour is quite often held in the Sky Lounge, even when they give coupons and is a great place for meeting others. Just introduce yourself.

We do laundry at least once on every cruise and have never had a problem. Always write cold water wash if that make a difference. Nothing has been ruined and we send anything machine washable.

If happy hour is in the Sky Lounge and there are no coupons there is no limit on drinks.

Did the tea a couple of times but don't need more food.

As said before 90 minutes per person for internet.

As a guy, I send all my dirty clothes to the ship's laundry. That includes dress shirts, polo shirts, slacks, shorts, etc.

I have never had any of my clothes damaged.

Of course, I don't send any wool clothing and my slacks are generally a blend of synthetic and cotton fiber. No designer stuff.

I have heard others say the ship uses hot water, and that sometimes colored clothing can be damaged. I have sent red, blue and yellow polo shirts, with no problems.

Free laundry perc really helps us pack less and keep luggage weight down, especially on longer cruises. 30 pieces of laundry for each of us is always more than enough. DW has me video as she puts each item in the laundry bag. That way if something goes astray she can show them exactly what it was. They do good work though, haven't lost anything yet.

Internet is real slow. On a couple of days, it was down for several hours on two or three days. I tried to go during off peak times and it was still comparable to the old Dial Up service.

At the Elegant Tea, the scones with fresh berries and real whipped cream is tops in my book. One of the better desserts in my opinion.

On our last cruise, there were no more than 30 people present during the cocktail hour which was held in the Sky Lounge. It may be due to people having the drink packages.

She will be allowed into the venues as your roommate guest but will not receive the addition vouchers, including the drink vouchers if they don't have Elite happy hour in the Sky Lounge.
