Cruise Prepayments

I believe Carnival has a special low price program whereby if you take advantage of the program but cancel prior to final payment your deposit is forfeited as a penalty for the obtaining the reduced rate. If that is the case then that would be part of the terms of the program.

Perhaps someone else can confirm.

When you are a loyal Carnival Cruiser and they keep part of the money that you prepaid(12 months in advance) how can you convince them to give it back?::confused::eek:

Welcome to Cruise Critic....

Being "loyal" has nothing to do with the terms of your booking....Since you are a "loyal" I would think you should know that ;)

Sounds like someone booked the "early saver" rate which has a non-refundable deposit. Loyalty has nothing to do with it. The fare rules apply to a first time customer as well as a long time one. We usually do not book early saver but did for a cruise next February. We know the rules and by purchasing agreed to them

Tell them the truth: that you are an immature adult who doesn't feel she has to abide by the contracts she signs.

You signed a contract; did you not read it?

You booked Early Saver.

Being a "Loyal" you either knew or should have known about the terms and Conditions of booking the Early Saver rate.

You can't! Next time don't book using that particular option. Yes, you get a slightly lower fare, but you risk losing part if you have to cancel, even before penalties begin.

The OP is a first-time poster who probably found this board while searching for some kind of redress.

It's pretty much the same pattern that we see here from time to time. Somebody commits to spending a lot of money after seeing a great cruise price but fails to read the T&C. Then something bad happens: medical issue, death in the family, house burns down, whatever. They have to cancel and then complain that the evil, greedy cruise line is keeping all or some of their money. Meanwhile the cruise line has had that cabin off the market for months. The pool of people who can book it late gets smaller as the sailing date approaches.

jj29407, nobody likes losing money but if you booked a fare with a non-refundable deposit there is nothing you can do. You just made a tuition payment in the University of Life Experience. Move on and don't book this kind of fare again if you cannot risk losing your deposit.
