We are considering taking a Christmas cruise for Dec. 2024. Husband and I would like to have a veranda and put our son in an inside cabin close to us. We wish to incur all expenses for him as a Christmas gift. When I log into the HAL website I get a better price than if I am not logged in. Should I reserve the inside room in my name and have my husband reserve the veranda in his name showing our son as the second passenger in that cabin. We would then just give him the key to the inside cabin. Hopefully someone here has also dealt with this issue and can give me some advice.

I order my wine package when I get on board. I choose my wine (8 bottles) and have 4 sent to my room and 4 to the Main dining room. If we eat at a specialty restaurant I just order a glass of wine with my dinner.

Also meant to tell you there was not a shuttle from the cruise ship to the hotel, only hotel to ship. At any rate it was only $20 with tip.

Steve and I stayed at the Best Western on our last circle Hawaii cruise. Great restaurants right across the street at the marina. Also, enjoyed walking around the marina. We took a taxi to the airport. It is close and the ride was cheap. I wish we could still drive to San Diego. My husband has lost most of his vision and I don't enjoy driving.

Hey Tom, where in SW Utah do you live. We are in St George and find it convenient to fly St George to Phoenix then on to San Diego with American Airlines.

Funny story! I had one of the 3rd deck cabins with a window. One morning I thought a women was trying to look in my window. I then realized she was using my window as a mirror and was combing her hair. She didn't see me but I surely saw her. We did close our drape at night.

Bumping this back up as I would like to know if there are others who have had sucess having one of their wine bottles kept at a favorite bar.

We rented a fridge. Put it under the desk. A little awkward but not bad. It came with an extension cord which gave us additional outlets to plug into.

If you go to page 2 (last Saturday) there are some great video tours of the Zaandam posted. We just sailed her last month thru the Panama Canal. Great ship and great cruise!

Just off the Zaandam. Happy Hour in Ocean Bar and Crow's Nest. Time.......4-5 PM. All drinks were 50% off.

Thanks for the replies. I had seen in photos that several ocean view cabins had cans of soda on the desk. I am hoping that our room stewards will keep our fridge supplied with our preferred drinks and that we will receive our 4 star discount.

As our ocean view cabin does not have a fridge I am thinking of renting one. We have had a fridge on all of our other HAL cruises. It was well stocked and as 4 star mariners, we received 50% off the cost of the drinks. Hoping if we rent a fridge it can be filled and we will receive our 50% savings. Does anyone have an answer for me? Thanks in advance.
