So why are you resurrecting a 7-month-old thread Beetlejuice? This seems really important.

Gratuities to be included with Simply More for British & Irish cusotmers
ORV replied to Harters's topic in Oceania Cruises
Yeah, I can't put any stock in that media company or the way they spin things. A survey is only as good as the people that write it and those that take it. Many survey and poll writers come up with the conclusion first, then find "facts" to support it. FYI, I didn't read it. I'll agree to disagree on this subject. Just look at all the people here on CC that tell us how much extra they are always tipping on cruises. It's a voluntary thing, no one is holding a gun to anyone's head to tip, yet people fall all over themselves to hand out money all the time. I see it as an obligation, but I'd rather not do it. -

I don't agree with this at all. I think Americans are becoming more tip happy that ever. Especially the younger generations. The "suggested" tip on most restaurant receipts I see start at 18% and go up to 25% or more. ' Everywhere you go, tip jar at the convenience store, tip jar at the counters where all they do is take your order then call your name, tip jar at the butchers counter in the grocery store, tip the hairdresser, tip the barber, tip the cab and Uber drivers, tip the postman, tip the delivery driver, tip the guy that rings up my wine at the wine store, and this list doesn't even begin to take in half of it. I don't see us Americans doing away with the tipping culture anytime soon. Just my take. I'm not sure at all where you got this idea from? -
I'm pretty sure that changed at least a couple of years ago.

Is there an "always available" menu for the Grand Dining Room?
ORV replied to BWR47CT's topic in Oceania Cruises
I"m not sure on Vista, but historically Oceania has had this. I do know there were some changes recently but in the past there was Jacques Roast Chicken, Salmon & some type of beef. Also some vegetarian option. I'm sure someone probably has a current menu. Mike Preisman was on the Vista within the last few months and posted a review on his blog. He always posts all of the menus on it. Just Google his name and cruise reviews and you should find it. -
From my understanding from what I've read on this thread, our Roll Call, FB, the HAL ATW thread and a couple of other places there is absolutely no rhyme or reason for what they will reject or accept. And that was a big part of the problem. Interestingly enough, Delta is still wanting my Brazil Visa information for us to be Flyready. Yet, their website has the updated information on it under announcements. Go figure.

Does Oceania have a particular dining night that is "special"?
ORV replied to clojacks's topic in Oceania Cruises
Just an FYI, the lobsters in Terrace and the ones you get on the Surf & Turf in Waves are warm water carribean tails. The one's in Jacques and Polo are Cold water lobster. Not sure about the Fra Diavolo in Toscana. If there is a dish in the GDR that has lobster it probably is the warm water style. -
Don't expect to get a wheelchair from Oceania. I cruised with a person that had a tale of woe about this and had to buy one at one of the ports.

Actually there is, it's under the Beverage Packages.

You guys are right, it's on my invoice for the 3 cruises I've got booked, but I booked them all before the change date, I think maybe it was Sept 1, so I really didn't know what one booked after that date looked like. But if I wanted to be one of those people that never admit they're wrong I could say I never said it wasn't on the invoice, I just said there was no need to put it on the invoice for those booked after the change date. But I'm happy to admit when I'm wrong, so yes, it's currently on the invoice. 🫠

It's included for everyone that booked after whatever the start date was. No need to put it on your invoice. They don't put that meals are included, they don't put that soda are included. It's a new way of thinking. We have to get used to it.

You had two more months, we had two weeks, and still nothing was happening on our applications. So glad they did this.

We'll have a moderator get right on that. Or better yet, maybe they could just take out the useless posts, like this one and the one above it.

If you are in anything lower than a Concierge room then yes, it will be around 3 when your room is ready. For the life of me I never seem to understand the people that come to Oceania and expect it to be what they've sailed on before. This is the way Oceania does it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean they are doing anything wrong. You are not on Celebrity or any other line that you've been on before. I'm sure O corporate will give your complaint the proper attention they think it deserves. Enjoy your cruise.

Yes but, if it has the Lyre brand non alcohol flavors as mentioned by elmslibev then they are not free. Same for any brand name non alcohol beer or wine.

I'm not sure just what it is, but most of the time the Hostess knows our name and room number on the first or second day. No bribes involved and I'm a disagreeable cuss, but I am nice and respectful to all of the staff & crew.

So many thoughts, so pointless to post them. It's not my job to tell people what they should or should not do, but certain behaviors do bother me. But unless it directly affects me then I'm working on doing my best to ignore it. If others want to endear themselves to the staff and crew and get those remarks on their file, then more power to them. I'm sure I've got a few interesting remarks in mine.

Thanks for a positive review. In light of all the negativity around here lately it's like a breath of fresh air.

And you kind of have to wonder if they're not intentionally making it difficult by requiring additional information or to resubmit files that are perfectly acceptable.

Ever play the old "Gossip" or "Telephone" game when you were a kid? There you go.

Are you here to just stir things up? You seem to have a much different slant in your posts than the average poster here. Don't you want to know what time Happy Hour is? Or if there's noise underneath Terrace Cafe?

Cancellation of cruise in the Middle East
ORV replied to Hill Country Dakota's topic in Oceania Cruises
Yep, traveling is just becoming a nightmare all around. Sorry you had so many problems. I'm giving strong thoughts to just traveling in the US to places I haven't been, by car.
