  1. We've stayed overnight in Nassau a couple of times and one time in Port Canaveral (ship repair). I've never heard of Cozumel being an overnight before.
  2. They might not announce before boarding. Lee is forecast to stay off the coast until it hits Canada late next week. Bermuda and NE/Canada cruises could be impacted. So, it depends on timing and location.
  3. For more info with good and bad reviews: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/67-jamaica/
  4. You are not helping your argument.
  5. The only one being "hysterical" and emotional is you. Others are just posting information.
  6. Okay, whatever. And, we know the unsafe areas in DC as we grew up here. Jamaica as a whole has major crime issues, but you believe what you want. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but giving info to everyone. You seem to feel like you need to convince everyone of your opinion.
  7. Starlink has worked great for us. No interruptions and smooth streaming.
  8. And, the State Dept? I've heard multiple stories over the years about Jamaica. BTW, this is not the only youtube video discussing the topic.
  9. Be very careful in Jamaica when booking your own excursions. Here's a recent video by veteran cruisers. We only left the port area one time on an excursion (out of several visits) and won't do it again.
  10. Didn't see this answered. Radiance class JS, bed is by the bathroom.
  11. "Quality of care" for someone who does something they shouldn't. The only way to prevent what he did would be to enclose everything. The expectations are a bit crazy. Personal responsibility seems to be something that many can't understand. In this case, falling by doing something dangerous could have only been prevented by not having any open space outside. Let's just fence in the entire ship for all those that can't follow directions. Nothing the Captain or the cruise line did caused this. I feel for his family, but he made a stupid choice in some way.
  12. While the Captain has ultimate responsibility for the ship and the people, he doesn't have responsibility for this situation. Yes, he has responsibility for the safety of everyone onboard, but that doesn't apply to someone doing something they shouldn't be. If someone jumps, climbs on a railing or gets pushed, none of that is the Captain's responsibility.
  13. There's a story in People magazine online where his family is pushing for the search to continue. They really think he can be found. That just doesn't happen and at this point, the cost far outweighs any benefit.
  14. X typically includes drink pkg, grats and internet, but that is changing some. X also costs more than Royal. We were on Summit a few years ago and had all three included (classic drink pkg, not their top one). We had another cruise booked on Summit last year but cancelled to go on Royal with friends instead and it included all three also. It's just part of their marketing.
  15. I don't think you read what you think you read. I know it takes a ship a long time which is why I said "THE AMOUNT OF TIME". My DH is a retired US Navy Captain and we've talked about this (every time it's reported).
  16. Depending on how far someone falls, they are more than likely knocked unconscious or break their neck on impact. People falling off ships don't normally hit the water at a good angle. Sea creatures are the least of their problems. My DH having spent time on US Navy ships as an Officer says the fact they ever find anyone is amazing. The amount of time it takes to stop and turn around as well as most people aren't seen when they go over so no way to mark where they fell. Just so many variables and not a good way to go. The ones who choose to go this way are the ones I don't get as there is always the chance that they are conscious in the water.
  17. Ordering everyone to their cabins means they can systematically check and not miss anyone while verifying identity. Too easy to miss someone if people are out and about.
  18. No, we booked the cruise over a year ago and decided to go annual policy in Dec. As I said, those requirements are very difficult to meet with anyone who travels regularly. What exactly is a pre-existing condition for old age?
  19. Those are tough requirements to fulfill as we cruise several times a year (book at least a year ahead of time usually) and are now buying an annual policy. My dad hasn't been diagnosed with anything except he is fading. He went into hospice care a couple of months after we bought the policy.
  20. My dad has been fading for two years. For the last 6 months they've been saying it could be no more than a couple of weeks. My sister and her family have a trip to Ireland (grown kids and spouses) next week. My other sister is going to a wedding out of town that weekend so DH and I are going back down again to stay with them. My mom told my sister yesterday to go ahead and go on her trip as burial will take a couple of weeks as he'll be going to another state for that and my dad would want them to go. We have a 20 night cruise coming up next month. For some reason, I don't think she'd say the same to us because my family thinks we cruise too much. I made sure she knew we're going to 4 new ports for us and this is a very different cruise than what we usually do. Anyway, we have Allianz and bought more than just the basic plan for this year so we do need to double check but I'm pretty sure the pre-existing only applies to the actual insured. The only pre-existing condition my dad really has is he's almost 86. As for the issue of telling or waiting, for me it doesn't really matter. The deceased won't really care so it's whatever you're comfortable with. Plenty of services/burials take place weeks or even months later for a variety of reasons.
  21. I love Google and I'm always finding things for people. On FB in particular people seem to be unable to google and most of them are way younger than me (I'm 63). I've found many people and addresses very easily. Some of the questions asked on FB groups are so very easy to find the answer to. I don't know if it's laziness or some are just used to everyone doing things for them, but honestly, most of the time the answer they're looking for it the very first hit, so not really a lot of searching. That said, finding someone from a cruise can be difficult but with the info OP has, it's probably going to be a little easier with all the names provided. They can take the last name and search FB, IG and see if the pics match.
  22. We did it on Harmony. I know a lot of people love it, but for us it was just okay. Our local small privately owned hibachi restaurant is magnitudes better. I didn't like the flavors very much and to us it wasn't as good as any land based one. It reminded me of Benihana's which we do not like at all.
  23. Delicate cycles generally have very low spin levels so you end up with a very soggy blanket.
  24. We've had them on every b2b we've done. When I said they set up turnaround day I meant that also. I have seen posts by people who ask how to search for b2b cruises as in they think Royal puts them together as a set which they do not.
