  1. With Yacht Club deposits being so low (compared to NCL Haven, for example), too many people were booking multiple weeks and then cancelling. Aurea and Fantastica staterooms probably don't have the same problem to the degree that Yacht Club staterooms have. Even after the wording on the website and confirmation had changed to state "non-refundable", I was still able to have Yacht Club deposits returned. Not everyone has been so lucky. It might be a case of different markets around the world having different deposit restrictions and MSC is trying to unify a policy for all. In some markets, deposits are non-refundable for everyone. I also book a long way out. 18 months to 2 years (or more) is normal for me especially if a new ship is being built. I don't book the earliest sailing because of potential ship building delays and I also prefer that the wrinkles of a new ship are ironed out before I sail. The ability to move a deposit gives a bit of relief. I don't really have a problem with Yacht Club deposits being non-refundable especially since they are so low. My lowest deposit on a Royal Suite was $49pp ($98 total). By comparison, a deposit for a family of 4 in the Haven on NCL would be at least $2,000 ($750, $750, $250, $250) for a 7 night. With MSC's horrible bookkeeping procedures, I convince myself that once MSC has my money, I'll never see it again. Although I have received every cancelled deposit and refund so far (still waiting 1 more billing cycle for a cancelled excursion), the horror stories of people being owed money from MSC are too many to ignore.
  2. Normally, I am strongly against people booking a wheelchair accessible stateroom when they don't need it. There are very few (6) of those staterooms and the people who would like an aft-facing (non-Club) balcony and need wheelchair accessibility should be able to see those options. However, once final payment date has been reached, I have no problem with anyone booking one of those staterooms. The fact that there are still other accessible aft-facing balcony staterooms leads me to believe that the OP will not be moved. My advice for the OP is to not worry about it.
  3. I've never stayed "outside of Yacht Club" but still Yacht Club but I have stayed "outside of Haven" but still Haven on NCL a few times. Total opposite end of the ship, actually. Based on that, I am confident that the OP will still have butler service. Having non-YC guests visit the stateroom shouldn't be a problem. A quality butler should have no problem with assisting with hosting duties.
  4. Print anything that you have and bring the proof with you just in case.
  5. That happens on nearly every cruise line forum whenever a "foreign" cruise line is mentioned.
  6. Many YC guests have a similar complaint. I purchased some cheap water shoes after reading reviews here on CC and I'm glad that I did. There are plenty of other beach areas on the island that aren't rocky. Think of it as an opportunity to explore.
  7. Joy's deck plan has a bunch of "" that are incorrectly placed. Questions/concerns like yours happen often because of the deck plan. The actual side of the ship shows more... ...and you can see that the balconies that are listed as PrivaSea aren't actually PrivaSea while the 2 that are PrivaSea aren't labeled as such.
  8. The only real "PrivaSea" balconies are the ones directly under the bridge. Don't worry about the others. Some are bigger/wider than others. Some have a better view up. Some have a better view down.
  9. On NCL, it's 20%. Take a SDP or UDP promo? Add 20% Buy a meal or a drink without a package? Add 20% Buy something in the gift shop? Add 20%
  10. Forum member "Dbox" stayed there. From the looks of the video posted, the glass probably blocks most of the wind from the front... Here's a short video of the bathroom...(it looks like a straight walk to the shower)
  11. That is incorrect. If you have enough SDP credits, you can use more than one per day.
  12. Yacht Club guests have dining and drinks included in the Yacht Club area (Ocean House) for lunch... ...which is right next to the beach. In my experience (don't know if it is official), anything that we ordered at the ice cream shop (The Smiling Fish) was free of charge. Once they saw the Yacht Club keycard, the receipt machine printed zeros. Others were charged and had to sign the receipt...there were tons of receipts being printed. We had an overnight on the island and we stopped there both days. Your Yacht Club drink package will work on the island just as it does on the ship. There are also included options for everyone on the island as well as pay extra options.
  13. A lot has to do with the ship and the stateroom type/choice. I've only stayed in Haven suites that have 2 bathrooms (we're a family of 4 w/ 2 children) but my Yacht Club Royal Suites only had 1 bathroom each. Your Duplex has 2 bathrooms so that is a rare plus for Yacht Club. Both lines are excellent with children in my experience. Butler service is better on MSC. Concierge service is usually better on NCL. Meraviglia's Yacht Club pool/sundeck was nice but many NCL Haven pools have the option of a retractable roof for when it rains. I don't mind the sun but some people would like more shade on Yacht Club sundecks. On the other hand, some people would prefer the Haven pools to have a view of the ocean which many do not. MSC has better food/drink amenities while at the pool/sundeck, though. Food is subjective but I enjoy both YC and Haven dining. NCL Haven menu doesn't change BUT I haven't tried their new menu since cruising started post-pandemic. MSC Yacht Club menu offers variety and I can always find something to choose. As mentioned above, both Haven and Yacht Club are very good so there isn't a "bad" thing other than some of NCL's pricing.
  14. Sometimes, OBC shows up later. It might even come in "pieces" instead of the entire amount. $50 might show up one day then $50 more a few days/weeks later. Guest #1 might get some but not guest #2. Sometime later, guest #2 might get something. As with most things MSC, the only thing that is consistent is the inconsistency. 😏
  15. For the OP, which ship, stateroom type, and stateroom number are you in? Some balconies have enough space for a "regular sized" table and some..... ... do not.
  16. LINK Tests must be taken with an accredited test provider, such as a drugstore chain, diagnostic lab, or accredited at-home telehealth provider. Guests will be required to show their negative test results upon arriving at the pier. The results can be printed out or can be presented on your phone, such as the email result from your test provider. Test results will need to clearly show the type of test (Antigen, RT-PCR, or NAAT), testing location/provider’s name, a negative result, the guest’s name, and the date and time the test was taken. Costs associated with this test are the guests' responsibility. We used Walgreens (red dot on the site) and it was fine. We're using the same in June.
  17. Haven and Yacht Club are mostly the same. Some things are better in the Haven. Some things are better in the Yacht Club. I enjoy both and was on Meraviglia a few months ago.
  18. I didn't know either of these things. I do see that some program points last forever while some must remain active by continuing to cruise. From what I can see, the programs aren't "bad" but I can't see why the status is so important to some people. That's how I feel. The pins, chocolate treats, bottle of water, etc. aren't worth anything to me. Something like the ability to book before the general public would mean something to me. Discounts on bookings are nice, too. Some lines have something similar but their communication is so poor, loyal guests might not get the email to book earlier than everyone else or know when the discounts are available. Even when NCL offers extra points for booking certain cruises, many people have no idea. CC forum posts get the info to more people than the actual cruise line does.
