  1. 99 times out of 100 a Carnival ship is going to dock at Puerta Maya as Carnival owns the pier.
  2. If you want an a-la-carte, nothing is included, cruise experience, more power to you. Historically this is not how cruising has worked however.
  3. I agree that Carnival's positive changes should be celebrated. But I don't see what this has to do with the cutbacks.
  4. My grandmaw used to say "weigh them on the way in, weigh them on the way out" lol
  5. 1. Yes, at least on Ecstasy they used to play a few movies in the aft lounge throughout the cruise. Typically these were family friendly movies as this lounge is used in the evenings for comedy. 2. You can leave the meds out if it's OK with your med. If it must be kept refrigerated let your steward know as they have alternatives.
  6. In a post-pandemic world it remains to be seen if those markets are still interested in cruising.
  7. Incredible to imagine a ship that needs barnacles scraped off the hull more frequently than it needs refueling.
  8. I doubt you'd be kicked off the ship if you mess with the shower head, but I don't think Carnival wants guests to make these kinds of alterations to their cabins. I've always had plenty of water pressure on a Carnival cruise.
  9. As of right now I see it more likely that Carnival or Royal would want to shed brands, not take on more. But as the decade wears on anything can happen.
  10. Indeed, Royal's main brand identity seems to be "Not Carnival"
  11. Regarding the cancer comment of nuclear - I don't think that would be as big of a hangup. Probably the biggest issue is the payoff for nuclear isn't there for the expected lifetime of the ship. That may eventually change assuming fossil fuels continue to get more expensive over the years, which is pretty much a certainty.
  12. You can bring those kinds of issues to the attention of any crew and if they can't take care of it, they can notify someone who will.
  13. Not the best shot in the world but here is Ecstasy in I believe May 2016, at the then relatively new Amber Cove. And a shot of the Lido deck one morning of the same cruise.
  14. 40% almost sounds like it would be so empty it would be spooky.
  15. But man those cruises in 2021 with like 60% capacity sure were nice weren't they folks
  16. Wait, are we talking about the inch-of-gold sale or Disney? 😁
  17. The Ecstasy will always have a soft spot in my heart - I have a lot of good memories of her. I hope they do her justice on her last cruise.
  18. May. I've eaten it at least twice on each of the 3 cruises I've been on since the restart. It's not as good as what was there before. Once or twice I absolutely couldn't eat it, either it was too gristly or far over/under cooked (due to it's thinness it's tough to be precise with the cook I'm sure). The rest of the times it was fine for what it was - but I still say with 100% confidence I get a better steak at my local Golden Corral any day of the week.
  19. You don't have to be a Michelin guide or Zagat's writer to know Carnival's new striploin or steak and eggs is a huge downgrade from what it used to be.
  20. Greenwashing the industry? Straws and tablecloths sure. But the most recent round of cutbacks - I don't think the two are related really.
  21. I'm really didn't expect to see Paradise or Elation drydocked again. I'm sort of surprised to see this.
  22. In reality of course, Coast Guard and NYPD were involved because of the brawl. "The Coast Guard's involvement included a boat crew from USCG Station New York escorting the ship through the New York Harbor . . . after our Vessel Traffic Service received the report of the incident at approximately 4 a.m. Tuesday morning," a representative for the Coast Guard tells PEOPLE. "After that, a boarding team from USCG Sector New York assisted NYPD and CBP with crew processing." https://people.com/travel/coast-guard-escorts-cruise-ship-back-to-port-following-large-dance-floor-brawl/ It has nothing to do with Carnival ending room service an hour early so I'm not going to keep discussing it here as it is off topic for this thread. Just a symptom of Carnival's new bottom of the barrel strategy.
  23. I can't recall of a ship needing a Coast Guard escort due to a fight before.
