  1. Plus quite a few more over all the cruises we have booked for that trip. I'm excited to finally get to Eastern Asia. Join us?
  2. I'm starting to understand why our upcoming sailing in December on the Wind was priced so that folks like me can actually afford it. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Sigh. I'm adding Vicks Vap-o-Rub to the packing list.
  3. It may be sold out (for now). We are booked on both the 4 March and 16 March cruises.
  4. Can you really call yourself a Californian if you don't whine when the temperature drops below 50F? 😜😜😜
  5. For what it's worth, we were very disappointed in Tuscan Grill on the Eclipse in 2018. We happened to have quite a bit on non-refundable OBC on Summit in September, so we booked the first night special on Summit and we were pleasantly surprised with a delicious meal and excellent service. We were glad we gave it another shot.
  6. Yup. It happens on the other end, as well. An absolutely superb, safe driver under the age of 25, or with fewer than 9 years of driving experience, is going to pay higher insurance rates because that's what the numbers say should be the case. Actuaries gonna actuary. Is it fair? Not necessarily, but it's probably, on the whole, more fair than unfair. That doen't make it suck any less.
  7. You might look into RV storage lots. We considered one this year, but other factors intervened. We are now considering one in Connecticut for about a month of cruising which would end in Boston (we would fly out of Boston to Iceland, and eventually sail back to Boston).
  8. I'm not sure why I'm posting this, maybe it's my headache... The best bit of graffiti I have seen was carved into a restroom toilet paper holder in Sproul Hall at my college in the late 1980s. It said, "Nostalgia ain't what it used to be." ----- We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.
  9. How about only the people who wait until they get to the front of the security line, and only then finally start preparing for security after they get to the conveyer belt? It seems like I am always behind people who act as if they've never been through a security queue in their entire lives, even on day 11 of a 12 day cruise. Can we only consider those folks to be voted off? For anyone who can't tell, I'm kidding! (mostly)
  10. We had significant wind on Mykonos in July of 2017, so much so that our kayaking adventure turned into a tour of a local farm (and one of our best travel days ever). We had no trouble with very hot Santorini that year, but did miss it this May, due to the winds. It was simply not safe to run tenders. @marazul has great advice. The Norwegian fjords are indeed phenomenal. In August, you could also consider a river cruise and/or land time in Central Europe. You'll already be there. I highly recommend the Glacier Express train in Switzerland.
  11. We were B3B on Summit in August and September in 3 different cabins. In the third (Aqua on 9) we had that annoying light switch as well. Other wise, the cabins were all lovely. I thought about you while I was onboard. I did quite a lot of cross-stitching, and your screenname popped into my head.
  12. Flash back to junior high school and Hooked on Classics
  13. Sidebar to the sidebar: I don't know if this would work for any of you, but just in case, here goes: Have you considered a one-way rental car? It's a bit pricier than picking up and dropping off at the same place, but it can be a great option. In recent years, we have found it is our best option when we have to fly out of LAX. We pick up a car locally, top off the tank near LAX, drop it off, and take the car rental shuttle to the terminal. We do the reverse for getting home. We much prefer to fly out of the smaller airport about 15 minutes from our house, but LAX is generally far less expensive, so the one-way rental is a great option for us, and far more affordable than paying for parking for more than a few days or using any sort of ride service.
  14. It can be done, but you have to do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around. Just one or the other won't cut it, ya gotta do both.
  15. Celebrity has recently added a multiplier, depending on Captain's Club level. I do not know about RC, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have it as well.
  16. Thanks! It was quite yummy. I looked it up right after I posted, out of curiosity. The marching band kid on the aforementioned trip is now a 23 year-old music teacher herself. She would enjoy that shot, as well as the peppermint bark flavor.
  17. Oooooh, I''m having flashbacks to a marching band championship trip when one of the other Band Boosters Executive Board members brought Rumchata (not this flavor) and Fireball to the "Board Room" after we had taped the kids into their hotel rooms at night. I can't remember what she called the shots she made with those two things, but I do remember that they got my attention. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.
  18. Thanks, @engbland. You inspired me to go check. Nothing has been updated for our December Santiago hotel nights.
  19. To keep it on topic(ish), this is how a suite-dwelling rich yak dresses on an Evening Chic night. Cue someone posting about how Luminae is Smart Casual, even on EC nights in 3...2...1...
  20. That must be very new, indeed. We were on the Summit B2B2B in August and September. They had MDR menus available for anyone who wanted them. They had a bit of white tape on the spine to differentiate them for ease. Servers sometimes recommended items off the MDR menu. The middle cruise was in MDR, and the service was dreadful. It was absolutely not the fault of the overworked but understaffed crew. They did the best they could (not the wine steward, but everyone else did). We mostly chose to eat ashore or in the OVC. We were very happy to get back to Blu on cruise 3. The staff there was fabulous, even if service was a bit slower than usual. The Blu sommelier was fabulous!
  21. A word to the wise: double and triple check your answers to the health questions before hitting Submit. You cannot go back and change answers after submitting. For example, if you are a 58 year-old biological male, and you accidentally click Yes on the Over 27 Weeks Pregnant question, it will become quite a hassle to get it fixed, and you will be heartily laughed at (with) each and every step of the way. Not that we have any personal experience with this particular error or anything.
  22. We are still waiting for our hotel assignment for 12 and 22 December in Santiago, included before and after an Antartica expedition cruise. I guess I won't hold my breath.
  23. Count me among the plebes. I rather enjoy the Meiomi Pinot Noir.
