  1. This actually ended up being true for me too. I booked a really good deal for a seaplane glacier viewing flight on Royal cheaper than I could have bought it directly through co. that was operating it. It pays to watch for bargains.
  2. That being said... anything you can get at Starbucks should be available at Cafe Promenade which is included in th DBP
  3. My Grand daughter is Celiac, Soy and diary intolerant. The staff on Adventure were amazing for her.
  4. I was like you... I missed the Chef's recommendations... I thought I lost my favorite beef tenderloin. Found it on French night. 😉
  5. I'm sorry you have a broken wrist Jane... That'll teach to stay out of the Skate board park! Get better soon. 🙂
  6. I think with the advent of Starlink Surf is going away. Of my next six cruises on four different ships none are offering Surf only. The only offering is Surf and Stream. YMMV
  7. I have done both ship sponsored excursions and booked some once I walked off the ship. There are deals to be had. I'm familiar with the one that @firefly333 mentioned. You can take a bus to Mendenhall Glacier and view it, the falls and the nature center all on your own for a very inexpensive price. If I remember correctly, it was $20 for the return trip. Stunning views and a comfortable walk around the lake to the falls. Just walk off the ship and look for the kiosk selling tickets to Mendenhall Glacier. Another option in Juneau is the Mt Roberts Tramway. Easy and inexpensive to do on your own. Also, as someone else mentioned Sitka. It has a few inexpensive options as well. After getting off the complimentary shuttle you can walk to National Park and Salmon Hatchery. A lot of nice sights there and a great outdoor experience. ISP has very little to offer if you don't book a cruise line excursion. Ketchikan we only wandered the town and shopped. It's a nice spot to do that if you want to save money of excursions. Skagway, I have only done ship sponsored excursions so I can't help you there.
  8. It is because they are connecting. The two other interior cabins on deck nine that show connecting should be green as well. If you look on the other decks you will see they are all marked as green. It is just a mistake on the deck plan.
  9. We have used these they are excellent. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E4SQNLS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  10. I always book specialty on embarkation day. It is the only way to start a cruise.
  11. It's funny, these type of threads rarely change anyone's behavior. In this instance it has changed mine. I will probably stop tipping when dropping my bags off. Intellectually I have always known that these are longshoremen who are handling our bags but tipping is so in grained into my thinking I just did it without thinking all the way through. I won't be tipping them anymore. I have a set amount I tip every cruise. I bring a collection of $1's $5's, and $20's specifically for tipping. The amount I don't tip the longshoremen will simply go to Cruiseline employee's I interact with. Thanks to everyone for this good discussion.
  12. Spend as much or as little as you want. There should be no pressure on you to order anymore or less then you actually want. If you want to sit and drink free beverages while eating food the windjammer that is your prerogative. That being said, I'd slip the server a tip of some kind for whatever service he or she provides. How much is entirely at your discretion and almost any amount will be gratefully accepted.
  13. $72 a day will take some effort but I have full confidence in you! Great start 🙂
  14. I'm a bit of a spread sheet nerd. That makes it easier if you are adept with excel. If you don't mind me asking, what was your pppd cost of the DBP?
  15. That was on the Chops menu. I order it every time.
  16. The terminal he was dispatched out of didn't have cruise ships but his union dispatched longshoreman to the cruise ship terminals as well.
  17. This is so true. We are generally balcony people. We cruised one time in a suite. It was Serenade in an OVP suite. The OVP is unique on Serenade and unlike other OVP's on other ships. It is massive. It is bigger than a GS and more comparable to an OS without a balcony. We loved it and I found DW spent more time in the room than was typical. As you said, the size of the room is just so hard to put a number on The four cruises after that were all in balcony cabins and we missed the extra space but still very happy with our experiences and we were "ruined" for standard cabin after a suite. Our next two cruises are back in suites. One on Navigator in Feb and one on Oasis in March. We'll see if I'm singing the same tune in a couple of months.
