  1. I can't believe I missed the start of an @A&L_Ont live review! That'll teach me to be off CC for three days. What was I thinking.
  2. They didn’t ask for ours at San Pedro (LA) but I had it just in case.
  3. On Odyssey Giovanni’s will be open for lunch however you will be to late for lunch. If you can’t get there earlier head to Playmaker for a burger, fries and onion ring tower.
  4. We were on navigator on September 12. The new protocols had just been implemented. We are vaccinated but our grandkids were not so they require testing. They took the home tests three days before embarkation. I took pictures of the negative results. When we arrived at the pier, when checking in, the agent asked to see the picture, there was no attempt to check the date or time of the picture. It was a perfunctory glance and then onto the next step.
  5. Ours would disdainfully ignore us for about an hour but then would do the opposite and attach himself to my wife for a solid day. He tried to be an aloof cat but he wasn't good at it.
  6. @TheLargeFamily @Biker19 is right. Your best info on release dates will be found here. Book as soon as they are released and then watch for price drops.
  7. If you can afford it now I'd book now and look for price drops later. You can always cancel and rebook. Especially so if there are specific excursions you want to do.
  8. Mine would be "How I met your mother". Don't tell DW but I had a secret crush on Cobie Smulders M*A*S*H and Friends go on the honorable mention list though. As does Married with Children
  9. There was no offense intended like you seem to have taken. You challenged my recommendation, I defended it. It was simply an opinion based on my 50 years living in Vancouver, both East Van and the West End. I have recommended Anton's to dozens of people, all of which have come back and thanked me for the recommendation. $20 for Uber within the scope of their entire vacation isn't to much to escape the downtown area, where I also spent many many years working. I agree with you that Vancouver has many great restaurants. I traveled to Anton's in spite of that because I thought it was worth it. I hope your packing goes well and you enjoy you upcoming trip. Again, I meant no offense or disrespect.
  10. If I lived in SoCal I'd likely do the same in spite my previous post. 🙂
  11. We were on Navigator 3 weeks ago and there was still no controls for time evident. I could have gotten an earlier time but I selected 12:00 since we were driving down from central CA and I didn't want to get up at 4 am. When we arrived at noon we basically walked strait through security and check in and onto the ship. We were out of the car taking a picture in the parking lot with the ship in the background at 11:46 and my next picture was in the Windjammer at 12:14. If you don't mind a slightly later onboard time it saves a lot of pain standing in the heat and in the line. For my next Navigator I'm going to shoot for 11:30 and see how that goes.
  12. No that is one the advantages of booking in your native currency. If the CDN$ drops like it is now the price of your cruise is locked in and won't change. You get the advantage of the currency discrepancy. If you the CDN$ goes up (unlikely in the near term) Royal will often adjust their current price to reflect the change and you can reprice at the new, lower price. You win in either direction. I have booked in both currencies as I have income and bank accounts in both countries. I currently have 1 booked in CDN$ and 4 in US$
  13. I was on Serenade last year when it was at 1/3 capacity and I almost lived in the Centrum/ R-Bar. It was perfect then as an entertainment venue. I can't a imagine it at full capacity I would think it would be a nightmare.
  14. It is a total 5 miles (8km). I'm not sure that that qualifies as "traipsing all the way". It's not like I'm recommending Chilliwack. 😜 Anton's isn't just another Italian restaurant. I'd have sent him to Commercial Dr. for that. Anton's is an experience. Have you ever been?
  15. The performers are paid based on the number of bingo cards that are sold. 🙂
  16. @bobmacliberty If you have the time and don't mind going a little bit out of the city there is a fantastic Italian restaurant just across the Vancouver border in Burnaby called Antons Pasta Bar. It won't show up on any tourist guides but is a local favorite. You may have to wait some to get in but the wait is worth it. They don't take reservations. They make the pasta right there on sight. The portions are large and I promise you won't go away hungry. It was a favorite of ours for many years while we lived up there. https://antonspastabar.com/ It is straight down Hastings from where you are and an Uber should be less than $20
  17. I haven't seen an itinerary release schedule yet but typically new schedules were released in stages through November and December. Since covid that has been a bit jumbled but I'd expect them to get back to their traditional schedules very soon. Watch the board here for updates. You'll see threads pop up soon once the announce the schedule.
  18. My last two cruises (Seattle and LA) there was no concern for times.
  19. Glad @John&LaLa is back and glad so far none of our CC friends have experienced terrible hardships yet. @bobmacliberty I have found that using is a VPN a good way of getting around geographical restrictions for streaming services. I have never used it for YoutubeTV but found it worked great with Netflix and Peacock's premium service. Yesterday was another beat the heat day. For those who are unfamiliar, for my work we spend most of our time traveling and much of that is in our 5th wheel. Large 5th wheels, no matter how well built, are not well insulated and at temps above 95° the 2 AC's just can't keep up. So in order beat the heat, DW and I decided to make it a beach day and drove to Santa Monica to walk the pier, have lunch at Bubba Gump's and then relax on the beach. The pier was a lot busier than I expected for a Wednesday. Lunch was good and the temps were perfect. While it was just over 100° where we have our 5th wheel parked it was a comfortable 77° at the beach. https://rumble.com/v1m0st4-beach-day-at-santa-monica.html
