  1. When connecting for the first time follow the prompts. Choose Access Internet: Then each user creates their own username and PIN.
  2. Once you create a Voom login you can share your credentials with anyone you choose to. It's not a paper voucher or code you can simply hand to someone. You have to do some work for someone else to use your free Voom, or your have to share your personal information such as name, cabin and birthdate with that person so they can sign up as if they are you, but if they choose the wrong plan and they pick a plan that isn't free it will be billed to your cabin, so you may want to do that step yourself.
  3. Whenever someone posts a "Can I bring this legal in my home state but not legal everywhere drug with me?" type of question this is exactly the "It's not a problem until it's a problem" outcome that can occur. Another scenario that can occur - a officer with a drug sensing dog is standing near the ship on a sidewalk and the dog hits when a person walks past. Now they board the ship and search that person's cabin. Perfectly legal search. Now it's a problem for that person if they find anything not legal in their country. It's never a problem until it is, but when it becomes a problem, it can become a very big problem.
  4. So if everyone gets free Voom for 2 devices plus "Top tier Internet Days/Devices" does this mean you get 3 devices as Pinnacle?
  5. The downside to using a CAS voucher for beer is the lower price compared to cocktails. If you are likely to use all of your CAS drinks and you would enjoy another drink then you might save the CAS drinks for wine or cocktails since these cost more, then buy a beer at the lower price. Also don't forget about the two 50% off beer or wine vouchers. These are available per cruise, not per day. On a day when you might go over your daily CAS drink limit buy a beer with a 50% voucher and save your CAS drinks for more expensive drinks.
  6. That's typically the new cruiser who thinks they have to print the entire 23 page eDocs. However a new cruiser is also likely to struggle with an app so the reality new to cruise will always be the ones packing passports in suitcases or having stuff all over the place since they are unaware what to expect. IME when someone is fumbling and delaying everyone else it's often the person on the phone and more often than not someone who didn't think to screenshot anything. I'll never forget the brains at Apple who though it was a great idea to automatically lock your phone if if turned it downward like you have to do when scanning your boarding pass boarding to get on a plane. Doh!
  7. It's nearly impossible to watch the CFL in the US let alone on a ship. Heck it's hard enough watching hockey in the US. A subscription to one service or another is required.
  8. That was the practice during the initial restart of cruising over a year ago. That is no longer the case. Is your app out of date?
  9. I'm a printer. A person who prints paper boarding passes to board a plane or a ship. If I don't then right at the possibly worst time I'll drop my phone and it will either shatter then stop working or bounce with perfect precision and go into a storm drain. By printing on paper I ward of the evil spirits who would cause me to fumble my ever increasingly expensive device. I have my paper copy in my pocket with my passport where it's safe. I can whip it out in record time as opposed to unlocking my device, going into the gallery, clearing the pop up notification of whatever newsworthy world event just occurred (seriously Britney Spears did it again?) before finding the screenshot of my setsail pass. I'm old. Set in my ways. Oh well.
  10. Usually, but it's best to stop by the LA desk and inquire.
  11. Yes, which can be traded for other ships with other cruisers.
  12. I think this is part of the problem. Some people report good success but others have a terrible experience. It could be based on the type of device or the version of code running on it. Apple vs. Android, old iPhone vs. new iPhone, Galaxy vs. Pixel, how active you are on your device which can keep the wifi connection going, etc.
  13. Used to be a fee based platform but since notifications are pretty unreliable they made it free.
  14. Prior to the shutdown ships with Playmakers had the ability to pick from a wider variety of sports content beyond ESPN Caribbean or ESPN International. Often Playmaker ships showed all kinds of sports on different TVs. Since the restart it's not a clear if Royal maintained these extra subscriptions to sports content on Playmaker ships.
  15. The problem with the chat feature of the Royal app is a matter of notifications not working reliably. If you are in the app watching for incoming texts you will see them but who sits there for hours watching an app to see if someone texted you? As far as Surf only packages that option has been rarely if ever available since they migrated ship to Starlink several months ago.
  16. Given that the terminal security contractors are not electrical engineers I'm going to predict this one gets yanked. Things with cords and outlets seem to cross a threshold with them.
  17. There was speculation it was one and done. It's not on Icon for example. So it's interesting they kept it for Utopia.
  18. Some features such as Bionic Bar are there to appeal to new to Royal cruisers. They look cool in TV ads. Since on a typical Caribbean cruise at least 50% of the ship are new to Royal that is their target audience. Purples slides and robots make for awesome looking features for someone who has never seen one before.
  19. I have an international travel adapter that includes 4 USB ports and plugs into a number of different international power outlets. It does pass through the 220v power to a regular looking 110v outlet BUT you must make sure that whatever you plug into that outlet can operate at 220v. This particular travel charger does not convert the 220v down to 110v. Most of my electronics are capable of operating at 220v. The ship hair dryer cannot operate at 220v so it can't be plugged into the travel adapter. This isn't the exact one I use but is very similar: https://www.amazon.com/EPICKA-Universal-Travel-Adapter-Power/dp/B078S3M2NX/ref=sr_1_5?crid=35PB52UCAF7LS&keywords=international+travel+adapter&qid=1685986838&sprefix=international+travel+%2Caps%2C109&sr=8-5 I also use it in hotels when traveling abroad.
  20. Nothing officially announced. While cruise ships are getting back to normal occupancy loads that hasn't erased billions of dollars of debt that was accumulated during the shutdown. That will take several years. They need to balance getting their debt under control with updating older ships.
  21. I suspect the Amazon market for Xbox users who also need a longer power cord is far greater than the market for CPAP users. So Amazon resellers advertise it as such. No one here can advise you on the machine in your family but if the end of the power cord looks the same it may be worth spending the money to find out.
  22. I wouldn't say she is not on a priority list. Adventure was the test ship that led the whole amplification program. She received her water slides and other updates before all the others. Izumi on the promenade for example, a suite lounge, new cabins, cabin updates, etc. She did not get a Playmakers but neither did Voyager who is officially amplified. She isn't considered "amplified" because her updates occured before the amplification program existed. She is 90% of the way there. They were going to officially amplify her but then the shutdown. Contrast Adventure to Explorer who also lost out on a planned amplification. Explorer recently had water slides added but not much more. Explorer is not nearly along the way to a complete amplification like Adventure is.
  23. Radiance has two 110v outlets plus two 220v power ports. This was in an interior cabin:
  24. The irony is that I have a battery pack that can power a laptop or medical equipment. It was picked to be compliant so I can fly with it so it's size and rating is legal to bring on a plane. I was going to come back and add to this thread but I'm not into rude posters so when I came back to add more comments I stopped and instead expanded my ignore list.
