I have been on 8 cruises this year on 5 different cruise lines and they all have noise issues and also it is loud venues playing music when unnecessary except to keep crew happy IMHO. I mean even the halls. Overall it is non cell phones voices that bother me. Then again with alcohol on ship one can expect loud voices as day goes on. I think folks on ships feel like since they paid good hard earned money, then they have their rights and just go about doing what they want and just do not pay attention. For me the one thing not said yet - loudness towards a cell phone user - is if I am using my cell phone to video, please DO NOT talk loud if you are standing near me as I do not want your voices in my video. So i just wanted to put this comment into the mix. I try to notice folks who are videotaping and be quiet. toodles. But could we also have quieter flip flops too. Ha ha

Here's The Problem - What's The Solution

I was merely telling my experience on another cruise line to say and compare with X all cruise lines are competition with each other. -
Here's The Problem - What's The Solution

I enjoyed my cruise on the Summit this past summer and will sail again next year on her in Alaska. She was really upgraded nicely from my 2016 trip. Pretty ship. I tried Carnival's two newest ships (Horizon and Celebration) and while they are big and new, they have issues. 1: doors to balconies are not sliders but rather a real door that opens and SLAMS. a lot. 2: forget asking for iced tea in any specialty restaurants because they do not have them at all. 3: forget asking for flavored tea bags in buffet or MDR as they are not free but for a charge. yes true 4: shows are not as good and the way they handle the Love and Marriage Show as well as the Quest is so very odd. 5: both times I had to actually ask for small glass for the bathroom. I mean really you want me to use the wine glasses in the room. nope 6: luggage tags are not delivered to the room but at 11am on the last day you have to wander to a couple of places to get them yourself. 7: and cookies are small and ugly and taste rather boring. And while Horizon had nice 3 tier cakes that is sliced, the newer Celebration will display the cake and then give you a 2X2 square piece. OMG I guess what I am saying is the grass is not always greener. I would say more large rowdy families on Carnival made for noisy mess at times and then other times a fun side show. But crew was good. I feel each cruise line has a list like above with various things that differ so just try various lines and then decide which ones make you happy. For me CCL is fun cruise line but lacking things that I like. -
well I do like the itinerary better on RCI than what HAL did last year. They went through Panama Canal and then over South pacific but instead of Suez Canal, the ship went all around Africa and up and into northern Europe. It never did any of the Med but the ship left folks off for a few days to do safari and rejoin the ship on other side. I just like RCI even if it is much longer.

I had this setup for a CCL Horizon but not for Celebration because they used bigger terminal. I think the smaller terminals use airport-like setup. I saw tag numbers mixed up and bags in piles that made no sense. I prefer the luggage lined up on floor and they still do that in bigger terminals. the best upgrade to process is facial recognition.

Thanks for great reply

aw yes sitting near the walkways. On my last two cruises on different cruise lines I witness twice a man getting food dumped on them. The staff walks too fast and carries too much. I also do not like the trend of now 2 seaters by the window and them placing two tops in random stupid spots with traffic walking by. This is why I 98% of the time go to the buffets as the food is hotter and one can get the quantity of whatever item they want. Also is quieter too.

Speculation for Los Angeles in 2025
Oceansaway17 replied to fac429's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I would like to see a quantum class ship in LA or S Diego. I think the California folks deserve one. -
I have heard that redoing the tanks on older ships is quite the feat and RCL has no interest in doing that much construction. that's what one of the captain's told us. only new ships get LNG.

yup agree. I feel that new folks coming onto the ship for small segment might find it hard to join in. I am Diamond Plus and don't drink so I would be considered boring. I was supposed to be on the Copenhagen to AMS but in the end, I moved to the Jewel doing 12 nights all Norway up to the Arctic. And my airfare will be r/t. that was my problem with the WC and all 1 ways. I will enjoy it just as much as Jewel is a Radiance class ship but not the WC. -

I also wonder if those doing shorter segments feel left just a bit if the full WC have bonded and have their already made teams for trivia etc. I agree eating in speciality all the time would add up. Afterall the shore excursion are the most important. Plus I think if on full WC, one would have to pace themselves and eat lots of veggies and fruits and exercise as well. I have to wonder and hope not that no one gets sick either. -
aw but we up in NY/NJ/PA are get her first. She is coming in 2024. yippee

Rude and Obnoxious Behavior by Couple with Genie
Oceansaway17 replied to mets123's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If the genie was there I would find it hard to believe that they would make a wheelchair person leave. I too would have glared and told them find the next elevator and to be grateful they could walk on. I mean really that is the height of ignorance. I must say 99% of the time on ships, folks are nice to those in wheelchairs. But one time last year I had to put my arm out to stop a few teenagers from running on ahead of wheelchair person. They looked at me sheepishly and slouched away sort of understanding their unkindness.
