  1. I waved to your ship in Boston. I was on the Adventure of the Seas. Was glad for the nice weather in Boston as well as Bar Harbor on the 19th. I am doing the Rotterdam next year. I have been sailing a lot of RCI but look forward to getting on another DAM ship in 2023.
  2. I did as you can see by the last two posts but it was very rocky on the way back to NJ/NY. My neighbors in cabin next to me were from Scotland. So pretty soon you will have to send Anthem back to NJ. OH and I see the Aurora P&O ship that is doing a r/t two weeks from UK is having extremely rough weather in North Atlantic. Our shipgot away from it as much as possible. I one day hope to get to Malaga Spain. BTW I was up at 5am on the 19th to watch the funeral and the ship was showing it at pool, in theatre as we waited for shore excursion to Bar Harbor. I would say the late Queen got a great goodbye and so now the Prime Minister and new King have a lot of issues ahead of them and best of luck to UK. toodles.
  3. I just got back and it was a wild ride on the last sea day trying to outride hurricane. Had great weather for Boston and Bar Harbor and Sydney. Portland has changed a lot in 10 yrs and I only did the train along the harbor that went a mile and came back. Was nice to not have to fly home but rather drive home. I go on Oasis on October 9 and looks like I will dodge the next hurricane coming along in a couple of days. toodles.
  4. oh well it was nice for Boston and for Bar Harbor. Miserable for St Johns and pretty good for Sydney. We had to sail full speed ahead leaving Sydney on Thursday since hurricane was coming up. WE had rough waves for about 7 hours on Friday. The Voyager was in port with us and that ship was heading to Bar Harbor. I have heard that they were cancelled. So ADV OTS was a nice ship but is in need of an upgrade. Food was fairly good but variety for breakfast could have been better. shows were nice and staff was nice as well. Looks like your trip will be to Bermuda. have a nice time
  5. nice to see him moved up to a Captain as he was on the Ovation for the beginning under Capt Loy. A lot of folks said in posts how much they like J Hill.
  6. best wishes to you and all your fellow citizens. Wish the best for UK in future for not only new King but for upcoming issues with inflation as well as a new PM. I hope you had a nice time on Anthem. I leave tomorrow on the Adventure up to New England and Nova Scotia.
  7. I agree. I was on the NCL Breakaway and all the food was along the wall and kept hot or cold and the flow was better. Oh and the desserts are better tasting on the NCL ships. I find the cakes to be airy and tasteless most of the time.
  8. i felt the same. I did not like the large entry with sofa and then the crowded wrap around the Boardwalk and no view in the back. I just felt like it was oddly laid out and some of the food was off to the side at the entry way. I prefer the other Oasis ships in regards to WJ, but I like the solarium better on Wonder.
  9. On the Allure back in June two doors down from me folks tested positive. 2 out of 3 were positive and they wanted to move all 3. The negative person put up a fuss and complained. I think in the end that person got to stay. Now I tried to ask general questions about isolation to a security person who clammed up and told me to go to guest services. At guest services they gave me a lot of what ifs and non answers. Later I asked my room steward and he was reluctant to tell me details. So at least on the Allure they were hush hush. Then again, the CD never ever told us why the main show Mamma Mia was on last week but not on the week that I was on. 3-4 different rumors swirled around and yet nothing from the CD and his staff was reluctant to say. Overall, I found the staff on Allure to be a bit different than say the Wonder or the Symphony. Just so very reluctant to provide answers to a lot of questions. So, for quarantine I do know they had a mid-deck in front of ship a whole sections behind doors and was told that was for quarantine. So not on the lower levels.
  10. yup I agree just a silly mess and folks got hurt as well. I have been on 4 RCI ships this year and no Quest thank goodness. I like the majority rules game or some of the others just as well.
  11. well that was not the same for Quantum. you could book the free or the paid at the beginning of the trip and there was also standby. Last fall I was on Anthem and had 3 reservations cancelled for the paid and the thing was down a lot or we had bad weather. I think the gang who control Northstar on Anthem had attitude in my opinion. They were nicer on Quantum and it had more hours too.
  12. glad I was on last week then. My steward said they were going this way which I do not agree with. There should be some paper available as it can be recycled. I do not want to keep whipping out my phone for everything while on vacation. my steward said they would provide paper for those who really wanted it though in the future.
  13. um yes they do, I was on allure in June and between 3 rooms near me, all he kids ended up sleeping in one room while adults were in the other rooms. So room 1 and 2 each had a couple, and room 3 had 4 or 5 kids for sleeping. But I would say they were a well behaved group otherwise the steward would put an end it if they were loud.
  14. i had no drama with airports just that on Quantum we had a small engine fire and a lot of fire doors closed and crew running around. but was over in 1 hour. Hope you had a nice train trip.
  15. well for me in 2016 Abe Hughes was great on Anthem and then later on Harmony. so many folks dropped notes to his box and he read live each day. I mean he really did chat well on his daily. But some CD can be annoying like when I was on Allure recently and the CD never told us why we were missing the Hairspray show that week. He could have cleared up a lot of rumors and explain to a lot of folks who were wondering and annoyed.
  16. wow I am surprised they have this on their door. those guys do travel a lot and have interesting drama. But you have great photos and I follow all three of you. flying to Seattle tomorrow to catch the Quantum of the seas. yea
  17. i hear ya. Those lenders in frozen section just are not that good. Welp I tested negative, got the ArriveCan done and off to Seattle to catch the Quantum on Monday. I love the breads and rolls on RCI ships as well as cookies.
  18. aw that was nice. Mine was Home lines out of NY in 1977. Why even the new Carnival Holiday back in 1985 was something too.
  19. I have my Diamond plus pin but since there is no real diamond, I will keep it home. this fuss about status is interesting because we all have things in our lived we choose to achieve. I know guys who want a high score on some game on line. Pinnacle status deserves at least a "good job" comment.
  20. yes I just did it and was amazed how fast it was. I got lost when looking at list of ports and tried to select only to find out it was the list for information prior to starting. I printed out email as I can not figure out how to save the QR code on phone.
  21. i did not know until recently. I mean really common words and symbols are taking on alternate meanings and if you do not get the notice, you are out of the loop.
  22. Hal ships are pretty with classic navy hull and pointy bow.
  23. Aw shucks thanks for thinking of me. going for covid test tomorrow and fly on Sunday. Then on Quantum. She is in Juneau today as I watch on PTZ com. I might be one of the few folks who is not annoyed to miss Dawes glacier. Seen them lots before. I still have to test for Adventure in mid Sept since doing Canada out of Bayonne. BUT finally for Oasis cruise from Bayonne NO test needed. So happy. speaking of Adv OTS, they changed the itinerary and when selling shorex for Sydney well I notice ship sails before shorex ends . Hmm a few others as well, so moving ship from Halifax to Sydney is now a guess on time ships sails. toodles
