  1. You’re lucky you have a satellite post office. I would love that. Unfortunately our carrier isn’t that good, we routinely get mail for other people, so much so that we have each others phone numbers to text when we get mail for them to let them know we’re dropping it off. @cruiselvr04 We didn’t usually stay away longer than 30 days, but did this year. We had a wonderful neighbor that shared the mail post with us and they always would get our mail and we would do the same. They moved. I wasn’t comfortable asking the new neighbor to take in 30+ days of mail, so what we did was have it delivered for a few days, which she held for us, THEN had the hold put on so the bulk would be delivered after we returned.
  2. I agree….. I think dollar to dollar it was more expensive to cruise “back then”, cruising wasn’t nearly as popular as it is now. And all types of travel were much less after 9/11, we went places that were almost deserted. We had reservations in Disney a month later and the entire trip from flights to parks were empty. But that’s not something we would like to see again in order for prices to drop.
  3. we turn off the water in the house and pull the plugs on things that are expensive to replace in the event of a lightning strike (all TVs, new washer an dryer, etc) oddly when we were in Hawaii a few years ago, one of our cards got stolen and had to be cancelled. They sent a replacement to our resort in Hawaii, I like @orville99 idea to lock the cards! I’m adding that to my list when I travel! I already let the credit card companies know im traveling too.
  4. Same for us on the Arctic cruise last year on Voyager, it got so loud and crowded inside because no one wanted to be out in the cold, that’s when I appreciate my balcony the most.
  5. We’ve taken Amtrak lots of times, and yes we can bring luggage onboard, and I think I read that you can carry luggage on Brightline too, you don’t have to check them if you don’t want to. NOt sure how many bags or if there’s a size limit though. I have read on the other social site people saying they carried luggage on though
  6. I wouldn’t bother doing that for refundable OBC, I was hoping it would work for non refundable too? I have a long cruise that with the OBC from stock and onboard booking for the cruise it’s more than the gratuities and I may not use it all
  7. So when you booked the trip that included the Uber from port and then MCO, did Brightline arrange both uber rides and just tell you? I’ve pre-reserved UBER in the past from my home to airport, but how did you know what car and when? Did it all go through the Uber app? One last question, if you were cruising from Miami again, would you feel comfortable booking the train the same day as boarding or would you want to get there the day before? and would you would do it again? Refresh how much it cost. I know Ive hit the limit on questions for one post 😁..thanks!
  8. Not to change course on this thread, but not only are people paying crazy prices to cruise, but also at Disney. And since I don’t follow other types of vacations, all inclusive or amusement parks, it’s probably there too. I can’t believe how much people are spending at Disney. I’m on a few groups on that other social site and from what I see, it’s not just cruising that’s crazy.
  9. I haven’t been on a Disney cruise in a couple of years, but even back then everything about the Disney cruise experience was way above Royal. If Royal starts to charge rates equal to Disney, I’ll start cruising Disney much more and Royal much less, if only for itinerary’s I can’t find on Disney or another top cruise line. The food is so much better than Royals, can’t even be compared….. if it’s what we’ve had in the past.
  10. I’ve only had to go to GS twice for smoking on the balcony. once when the neighbors were openly smoking on the balcony, and when I said it’s not allowed, they said so what…..so I took their pictures and went right down to GS. I heard a knock on their door a few minutes later. Problem solved. Another time neighbors were smoking all the time on the balcony and were so comfortable they just left their ashtray on the table with the butts in it. I took a picture to GS and soon after I heard a knock on their door. They denied it was their ashtray, and said the room attendant must have put it there. Problem solved The reason I go to GS about this is I don’t want the ship to catch on fire.
  11. I would like detail on these: Culinary services staff Other Hotel services teams Others who work to enhance the overall cruise experience. so even though they said 100% go to these groups, who knows who is actually IN these groups of “staff”, “teams”, “cruise experience enhancers” staff could be anyone from bathroom cleaners to the Captain..they’re all staff.
  12. Someone posted the new breakdown on a different thread. For regular rooms just add 1.00 to stateroom attendant and dining room.
  13. I’m so sorry this happened to you. I noticed this behavior on our Odyssey TA in October. A few times I had to put my arm out to stop people from entering the elevator while a was helping a lady in a wheelchair. We don’t need the elevator, we can take the stairs, and do very often, but those in walkers, chairs or scooters have no other choice. I agree with others, I wouldn’t have gotten off the elevator to let them on. It may have showed them how self centered and uncompassionate they were behaving. We’re never too old for lessons in life.
  14. We couldn’t get them on our TA on Odyssey in October
  15. I bought this because I can plug it into the European outlet and still have the American outlet for my other multiple device adapter.
