  1. Dress code is pretty casual. We dressed as we have for X since they eliminated formal nights. The only evening we were "dressed up" was the evening of the Captain's reception (2nd night) and while I was told we might "stand out" because the dress code is more casual we felt perfectly comfortable. I had a new dressy outfit I just wanted to wear once, so I did and my DH wore a coat and tie. We were definitely in the minority but there were others who dressed up a bit that night. Other than that I generally wore slacks and a pretty top, DH wore golf shirts and pants. One thing that the O Vista had that was surprising for a new ship was a WONDERFUL library. Very comfortable, quite large and literally hundreds of books. Very nice.
  2. There is no question that O is much quieter in every way than X. There is nightly entertainment in the theater, usually a piano player in the martini lounge and violin trios or quartets that perform in a few different areas. But that's it for evenings. We were fine with this, loved the violinists, went to 2 of the shows just to see how they were (okay) and that was about it. But then that's been no different for us on X cruises. We enjoy our balcony in the evenings and walking around the ship.
  3. Thank you for all this information. Have looked for private transport but not having any luck at finding any that were under $7-800 for 2 persons. I will look further by contacting the Venice hotel we will be staying at. Yes, we do have to. We have not been to Venice and doubt we will have another opportunity to do so.
  4. @Jim_Iain My concern would be if Celebrity had others who were waitlisted for that particular category of room, would it be automatically grabbed for that guest? I don't know if Celebrity will even wait list rooms as others like Oceania and HAL do, so it may not be an issue at all. We are looking at a Constellation sailing from Ravenna to Civitavecchia in 2025 that has an itinerary we've always wanted to do that I can't find on other lines right now. But booking a non-refundable deposit just doesn't work for me, so I'm encouraged that you've booked a refundable and rebooked later non-refundable.
  5. Have thought about doing that when booking a cruise well in the future..... only issue may be that the same rate may not be available as when originally booked or the stateroom cancelled may disappear immediately on cancelling if you aren't quick enough to rebook.... Have you done this?
  6. Trying to find transport from Venice to Ravenna. Does Celebrity offer transport if you are staying in Venice a few days before the cruise? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for transport?
  7. I rarely drank it either, but liked the notion of it. A nice way to welcome you aboard, making X feel a bit more special than other lines. (Even though it was pretty poor quality )
  8. They have indeed been on Celebrity. Either a welcome glass of champagne or a mimosa as you walked on the ship. But that ended quite awhile ago....
  9. Other cruiselines we've been on (Celebrity, Princess, HAL) seem to offer new itineraries in the late fall each year. Is Oceania the same? Interested in 2026 Caribbean, South America and Europe cruises.
  10. Rooftop Grill .... good food, good service, great ambiance, very relaxing and fun meal. Fine Cut, was mediocre....just an incredible amount of average food. Eden was good, but not as enjoyable as the rooftop grill.
  11. Don't know about the steaks but we had a great time at the Rooftop Grill, far more enjoyable than Fine Cut (just an IMMENSE amount of mediocre food) and Eden for us. My husband did love his steak. It was a fun evening at a place that isn't pretentious at all, which is what Fine Cut seemed to be to us.
  12. Why not rent a car from Budget(they have a location close to the port) and do it yourself? You don't need a guide to go to Kennedy Space Center. It's an amazing place, I hope you find a way to go there.
  13. Dinner was at 6PM on the Vista during our December cruise.
  14. We found Fine Cuts to be poor in quality and service. As far as steakhouses are concened Chops on Royal ships far exceeds Fine Cuts. The noise coming from the Martini Bar area is also a big turn off, you can't hear your partner talk when the music/live or DJ are performing. Not a pleasant experience try the Rooftop Grill instead. Better food, better services, fun evening.
  15. Good to hear we have friends on board, hope they are enjoying CK as much as you.
  16. HAL does have some wonderful itiineraries.... would love that 42 night Ft. Lauderdale round trip one.
  17. Great idea, X could start offering the kind of longer cruises that currently HAL has. Friends are boarding the HAL Koningsdam this weekend for a 39 day round trip San Diego trip to Hawaii and the Polynesian islands. It would be great if X went in that direction with the M class ships.
  18. No. We did this on the Reflection and found it very lacking. Keep in mind that much can depend on the people around the table. We didn't have a very good mix and the ship's officer that joined us didn't seem to want to be there. The one thing that stands out was my husband's allergy to lobster...just lobster not all seafood. Lobster, at the time, was in the appetizer course and they substituted a single asparagus spear split in half for that course. It's laughable now but at the time not so much. This was back in 2016 and in a suite so we were dining in Luminae nightly, when it was at it's best. Luminae was far better than the Chef's dinner. Thankfully our dinner cost much less than the current one AND included wine. As one poster has said the Chef's dinner we did on Royal was actually far better and less expensive.
  19. Have you been to the Suites only area (PH and above) that you access through the spa? It's a lovely area and we never had a problem finding lounge chairs. Nice whirlpool tube there too.
  20. Bought my own inflatable foot stools for my Equinox trip this fall..... wonder if they will take them away too???. This is ridiculous. The chairs are already really uncomfortable, unlike the chairs that S class has/had(depending on whether renovated). So were people just more agile back then and only now have started tripping over foot stools? People are stupider now? I know they are more prone to sue, that's just the way of the world now, is that the fear from Celebrity corporate? Next thing you know there will be no furniture on a balcony, you'll be expected to sit on the floor. Maybe I should look into "inflatable" loungers too........
  21. 2 hips here, so understand completely. The chairs in many of the areas of the E class ships are just terribly uncomfortable and many of them seem to be built for young children they are so low to the ground.
  22. Hopefully that will be included in this dry dock.
