First New England Voyage of 2023 Observations/Caribbean Princess
Ombud replied to cr8tiv1's topic in Princess Cruises
Re: long queues I couldn't tell which lane you were assigned to. When I left from FLL last December I was "green, elite not suite" and there wasn't a dedicated line outside. I'm frankly hoping it'll be better when I do the East Coast coastal again (love those ports) if I get the medallion ahead of time -
Wait .... cruisers got a 7 day cruise + 75% refund + 75% FCC?? So let's say the suite was 10k or 1k per day. -7k cruise 7 days + 3 days lodging in SF -7.5k refunded to method of payment -7.5k received in FCC Another way: spent $10,000. Got $7500 refunded. Meaning 7 day cruise was only $2500 and cruiser has 7500 fcc to use by 2/1/2025!?!?!! Although it is upsetting to look forward to something and then have to be flexible & even if the FCC is never used, the cruiser is still ahead!!!! Dang wish I had that deal!

Wow ... it was on during March Maddness (Royal)

Discovery Princess - Obstructed Deluxe Balcony
Ombud replied to New2cruise2022's topic in Princess Cruises
View from E409 so it really depends on whether you are midship bump out or not: Find the 'obstruction' 😁 (Tip: you need to look down .... I'll help you out) -
If you have a CVP ask them to book both excursions with your OBC. I've done that for up to 5 passengers (4 kids & me ziplining) If mine could do it, I'm sure yours can too.
-
If you have to sail by Feb 1, 2025 you've got 1 summer, 1 spring, and 2 winter breaks. Surely the 'grandkids' have 1 of those off. And why can you only cruise in a full suite? (Asks someone who slums it in a balcony with the grandkids in an adjoining balcony. They are not sleeping in my room, I want my sleep)

I wasn't sure so that's why I put in the port. So by what you're saying I'd rather do a B2B here so I could experience a basically empty ship .... but good to know that I don't even have to get off in Europe
-
Just did my 1st B2B. Here's what hsppened: > instruction letter the night before > all those doing B2B met in Explorers Lounge > 30 in the group. escorted off after everyone else debarked, 17 went sightseeing with an in-transit card to skip embarkation process > staff walked 13 back thru terminal & back on immediately > full access to everything open onboard (went to room to drop off passport then off to International Cafe for tea & pastry) > other passengers embarked an hour later > loved having a nearly empty ship & can't wait until my next B2B This was LA but I hear the process is the same all over

Just letting you know what Princess policy (allowed amounts) is for carrying on water and soda. We don't bring water and soda onboard. Me either but I always carry on 1-2 bottles of wine (1 per week & take home what I trade minibar for). Except on my last cruise (5/27-6/17/23) I carried on 2 bottles and a mini bottle of champagne. They just wanted to make sure that 3rd bottle was wine ... just took my word for it. Never charged me 😉 Rules say 1 bottle per adult Adding: 12 bottles water = $7.08 in personalizer

Only responding about the Discovery & its sister ship Enchanted. Other ships were slightly different. Buffet: specialty coffees (charge) & ice cream (nc) available in the buffet. Also lemonade at lunch & assume they have juice for breakfast but I eat in MDR unless hunting down ice cream MDR: Lemonade, ice tea, hot tea, coffee, juice. No charge. Never ordered juice with dinner -- that's a pot of tea for me. But I have it with breakfast & lunch. There's a charge for other beverages
-
I'm a tea drinker & I prefer my tea to what they offer now that they don't carry Mighty Leaf Vanilla Bean tea. Hot water at IC is NC. Buy a dz waters for $7. I can get ice cream at meals, 3 scoops + 4 toppings was $4 on Emerald at IC in the afternoon (disembarked 6/17/23), and I'm never going to a gym .... hate power walking inside. Plus I love the chance to unplug. So the Plus / Premier pkg would basically cover gratuities.

Some are really obstructed and some not at all. You could always try looking a particular cabin up at: https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/cruiseline.php?line=Princess
-
The seating on the Enchanted is similar to the Discovery. Sometimes if you want a seat for a particular event it still requires you be there as early as possible as many people don't leave Princess Live for every show & just remain in place for the whole evening. 30 minutes doesn't sound that unreasonable to me. From observing the crowd, the majority of people get there around the 20 to 30 minute mark. The reason it's unreasonable is that a major selling point of the Premier Pkg (JMHO) is to be able to arrive up to 10 minutes before a show and get a seat (says this standard fare cruiser). Certainly it cannot be 2 cardiac ice creams a day & 2 fitness apps a day to tell you to not eat those 2 cardiac ice creams. Bottom line: book Premier or suck it up and get there 45 minutes early. I do and then I watch the "jump the line / seat" show while chatting it up with others that sit in my favorite row also watching ... 💢🍿💢

Looking for a thread on how-to
-
Don't I know it!! I had 16 on 1 cruise but I got it all back (fortunately on 1 card, equally fortunate I had all those #s). 8 cards + 8 bonus cards .... miss those bonus cards /// but we digress
-
You can also look it up at the bottom of the page on: https://www.princess.com/learn/cruise-gifts-celebrations/overview/gift-cards/
-
There's SEVERAL overhead msgs as to when the empty seats will be released (it's been 10 minutes before the show starts) on every cruise I've been on. And I've only seen 1 incident. Non Premier guests wanting to sit with Premier friends were made to wait % of seats reserved based on % of Premier passengers But I'm going to duck out of this one now as I just feel sorry for the staff having to hold up their end of the contract with Premier passengers.
-
I've also seen several rows (maybe 10?) in the upper left section near exit to Deck 7 on Royal and Emerald
-
We agree on a lot of things but not this. The primary perk between Plus & Premier is the ability to NOT preplan show attendance. If it was that heated I hope security was called and the unruly passengers were invited BY SECURITY to upgrade from Standard or Plus to Premier (jmho as a Standard fare cruiser) 2nd thought: no one has challenged / become unruly on the voyages I've been on. In that this is an issue on yours I think a security officer should be on standby like ready to get between entitled twits & staff to 'help' entertainment staff person explain if needed.

There used to be an ATM on the Diamond Princess on Deck 4. Yes crew deck. Where I could've exchanged ¥ for $ but there was a 6% surcharge so I just went to a bank in Kagoshima (It was 2017. I mistakenly took out $450 worth from a 7-11 ATM in Aomori when I meant to take out $50 worth. Oops)
-
@startedwithamouse got it. There are so many things to see and do that unless something grabs me in the 1st 5 minutes, I give it 10 more wondering where I'd prefer to be. If there's a better option, I move on. Magic to Do failed to grab me, sweet Soul turned me off completely. But that left 2 great shows IMHO and an available aisle seat for someone who was standing
-
Oh I would have liked to see Wicked but it wasn't one of the 4 on my Emerald Princess cruise last month. I also like Secret Silk but it wasn't 1 of the 4 either. Just Rock Opera, Disco Blame it on the Boogie, Sweet Soul, and Magic to Do currently on the Emerald Princess

Seasoned Princess Cruisers try Viking Ocean - Thoughts
Ombud replied to bubbaed's topic in Princess Cruises
I DIY at ports ex disembarkation and take tea with meals. Does Viking have an option w/o their excursion?
