  1. Yes Especially since Viking Cruise ships don't have casinos 😉
  2. All shows are complimentary AND Premier Package holders are guaranteed a seat for production shows as long as they show up 5-15 minutes before the show. Those reserved seats are then released to the everyone else (plus & standard fare pax). The reserved for Premier seats are grouped together normally on the orchestra section and a group on the upper left or right side. Enjoy your perk!
  3. This is my 1st time to Hong Kong and I've only got a day. I was supposed to start a Hong Kong to Sydney cruise there in September 2020 but the world shut down. I've decided to read up so reserved the libraries Lonely Planet book because it'll be a while before I get back. Yes Google map is my friend but it is often wrong about San Francisco CA so anticipating errors about Hong Kong as well
  4. I love the Grand class ships! Don't forget to check out Skywalkers Lounge
  5. @TravelingBeyondBoundaries what ship were you / are you on & did they have vegan menus?
  6. Too true for any cruise!! While mulling over a disembarkation tour next May it sold out but I snagged a spot on the waitlist. Waitlist closed on another excursion. Ah well, time to research the port with other roll call members
  7. @monkey@cruise that makes it sound so simple that even I can do it!! At that point don't even need freetours! Every site says don't miss Temple St Night Market so I was thinking about taking a ferry there on my way back to the ship, which would be about 3pm. Is it safe then (for a 5'8" single woman)? Or can you recommend a 2nd market nearby that route? Sites say li yuen doesn't have a lot & i will need more flowers as the ones I boarded with will be dying Yes I use Google maps but will get a map in port
  8. Of course it goes up (and it will tomorrow). That way they can put it on sale / short term discount at a later date and still be over the minimum they are willing to accept
  9. I doubt it. I certainly have not seen this when dipping into some "live from" reports. Maybe it depends on the dining time? I get an assigned table and pre-order so I just walk in. Past a long LONG line at 5-5:30. Many times they will say "welcome back Miss Gayl" and I guess that's to usher me ahead of the others. But I also eat fast, in way less than an hour. I can also get in fast at 8pm. Although I did have my meal not prepped when I showed up at 8pm one night and could only have steamed veggies no seasoning / no salt or pepper just to be safe. Just noticed someone put me in at 6pm on my next 3 cruises - solo table / Deck 5 midship. Huh. That works if you want a set time and can't find DORM but even the head waiter can help out those who have to pre-order. Be aware that this will limit your food options and you will be assigned to someone. I've seen that someone override menu choices as this service is for allergies not preferences (mine were documented by medical staff on ship) They notified us when standard pax needed to pay $10 to get medallions shipped. Ordered mine & getting 2024 cruises for free 🙂
  10. Oops. Meant average 433×3 phone orders orders PER HOUR impacting both phone lines & delivery!! Anyway that's what the retiring captain said. Once he gave instructions to just leave it in the room instead of trying to find the passenger delivery time decreased drastically but never under 2 hrs (2hrs is better than 12). Frankly I think that should be the standard practice ... RS dropped off in room only. Not there? Too bad if it's no longer proper temperature I'm a standard fare cruiser who's glad there's a phone order charge.
  11. 433 single orders each of hot dogs, hamburgers, and fries on the 5/27/23 Emerald Princess Cabo cruise led to 12 hour waits. I'm glad there's a $5 charge for room service phone orders and $15 charge to activate Ocean Now. That would be me ... well every lunch & several dinners. Now maybe just 3× on my next TA. But I waited (normally 1+ hour) at the bar next door. According to @rosevew 's post, guess I have to explore the buffet / World Market / whatever. A good friend (Runmotor) states they have a selection of teas so I don't have to bring my own
  12. I use the steward but might try crew chat line on my next voyage .... just to get activating ON out of the way.
  13. I'm seriously thinking of a Princess excursion for A$108 ($70usd) after loyalty discount but it more than covers my top 3 'wants' in Hong Kong: limited to 20 cruisers in each group, street market, murals, one of the most elaborate temples per Lonely Planet, the Central Escalator, and the old PD Square with supposedly sculptures. If I take a cab to the free tours that's $20 each way according to WhatsInPort and Kai Tak cruise terminal and no idea what they cover. So the excursion is $30 vs $0. I'm from a small city (>10k) and get overwhelmed in large cities. Hope it really is just 20 per group. Will DIY Temple St Night Market in the evening. Maybe. Princess tour misrepresented itself in Bali (was supposed to be 9 pax but was 25 pax) and was refunded 50% afterwards. No idea why it was 50% 12/21 Disembarkation tour cut out 1 stop. The tour with 2 stops was 79 and the 1 with 1 stop was 59. Reimbursed 25 but as OBC on next cruise .... took 2+ months to get it just in time for next cruise (4 months later)
  14. Why do you think Carnival Corp is going Chapter 7?
  15. I tax loss harvest if $$s can make more elsewhere
  16. So now HAL & PCL are the same? 1 gets MOBC & other gets SOBC. As long as shares are in 2nd person's name. Is that the way for all CC lines? (Adora, Aida, Carnival, Costa, Cunard, HAL, PCL, PO, POAU, Seabourn?)
  17. Thank you @ROCruiser! I was kinda lost on where Princess' free shuttle went to. I was initially trying to get to Li Yuen East / West, Central Escalator, and Mo Mann temple. Free Walking Tour (tips needed) from Central MTR K exit and ships tour are exactly the same!! Except the free tour might visit the murals. Now I'm researching Kowloon (temple st night mkt, Kowloon Park, Tin Hau Temple, and Star Ferry to get to the escalator). I love it when ppl who have actually been there give such great info like you and monkey@cruise
  18. Anticipating really heavy rains. Up to 2" over 4 days! 🥳 Ground is a little parched and ready to absorb just stay out of Death Valley
  19. Ok. Doesn't exactly fit as it isn't technically sold but transferred to a new line: joint venture CSSC is now Adora Cruises!! https://www.cruisehive.com/former-costa-ship-arrives-at-dry-dock-for-chinese-cruise-line/108969
  20. Bookmarking actually existed before the medallion class app when everything was done in ocean concierge in 2019. But then it was just so I, the passenger, could preplan what appealed to me
  21. 2nd cruise after restart (Dec 2021) I was told that bookmarking only indicates interest in an event -- that only broad numbers were collected in case they needed more supplies (crafts) or space (but that was when a full ship was 1000). Means absolutely nothing to them now
  22. Happy sailing!! At least we don't need an arrival time now!! (apps still out for me) Huh??
  23. So I'm not the only one that cannot get into MedallionClass on app or website! Not via password & it states my booking # is invalid (it's not). For some reason thats comforting
  24. I'm on the Royal Princess next April (yes planning ahead). Are the shuttles operated by the terminal not the cruise line? If so, they should be the same. I like the idea of taking the ferry to the Central District then (I guess) just walk to Central MTR unless all MTRs are connected like just different Bart / metro stations.
  25. Thank you. I know its Kai Tak cruise terminal & I see that the ferry is RIGHT THERE!! So at least I know how to get to the ferry station & someone said i can see fireworks from there (if they're going). Maybe I can still figure out how to get to : Central MTR Station K Exit
