  2. If POAU is ending up with 3 Grand Class then is it the Grand itself?? Or the Crown? I do see AIDA & P&O left alone & Costa line decimated as it was being modified to fit China schedules and we l know what happened to that. 23 ships out already, 3 more on the block now, anticipate another 2 by 2023 yr end. Pushing out new deliveries & expiring FCC will help but not enough 1. Costa Atlantica -> CSSC 2. Costa Mediterranea -> CSSC 3. Costa neoRomantica -> Celestyal Cruises Experience 4. HAL Amsterdam -> Fred Olsen Bolette 5. HAL Rotterdam -> Fred Olsen Borealis 6. HAL Maasdam -> Seajets Aegan Myths 7. HAL Veendam -> Seajets Aegean Majesty 8. P&O Oceana -> Seajets Queen of the Oceans 9. POAU Pacific Aria -> Seajets 10. POAU Pacific Dawn -> Ambassador Ambirnce 11. Sea Princess > Sanya Int Cruise Charming 12. Sun Princess > Peace Boat Pacific World 13. Pacific Princess > Azamara 14. AIDAcara -> Astoria Grande 15. AIDAmira -> Ambassador TBD 16. AIDAvita -> ??? Scrapped: 17. Costa Victoria 17. Carnival Fantasy 19. Carnival Inspiration 20. Carnival Fascination 21. Carnival Imagination 22. Carnival Ecstasy 1991 23. Carnival Sensation 1993 POAU Pacific Jewel -> Jaleesh Karnika was not included in the list as that was sold pre-covid (2019) and not as a result of CCL trying to rapidly lighten its debt # of passenger per ship on the oldest in fleet list as CC increases pax per ship: 1996: Carnival Sunshine - 3,002 pax 1997: POAU Explorer - 1998 pax 1998: Carnival Elation - 2190 pax 1998: Carnival Paradise - 2,124 pax 1998: Grand Princess - 2,590 lower berth pax / 3,100 max 1999: HAL MS Volendam - 1,432 pax 2000: HAL MS Zaandam - 1432 pax 2000: PO Aurora - 1,878 pax / 1,950 max
  3. It's humorous to think that some people consider OBC as play money. 😄 Well it sort of is when it is primarily nonrefundable. It's use it or lose it. So maybe Candy4040 just prefers to use it in Specialty Dining instead of casino, shops, or excursions. And with changes to casino coming soon it'll only be dining, shops, or excursions. To each their own
  4. Wow!! In ICU on the ship but they wouldn't or couldn't transfer you to a land based hospital?? Isn't this covered by Princess insurance? Please post when you find out.
  5. I still think Carnival Corp is depleting Costa Cruises 1st and 'protecting' aka keeping country specific lines for now. That means AIDA, PO, POAU should be safe. Think eventually 4 (not 3) to go from Costa. Sell 2. Replace Carnival Sunshine and POAU Pacific Explorer with Costa Ships. Or move 2 Costas to Carnival & 1 Carnival to POAU. 2 Costa ships to go 1st: Fortuna (2003) and Magica (2004).
  6. Those 2 (Carnival Sunshine and POAU Pacific Explorer) are the oldest so makes sense. I still would expect Costa Ships to replace them ..... POAU Pacific Explorer as POAU needs more than 2 ships & CC is starting Costa by Carnival.
  7. @Wishing on a star since you're asking .... I have gone to the buffet twice post pandemic. I can't understand food horders. Yes that's what they look like as they put more food than any reasonable person needs in 48 hrs pushing, shoving, reaching over others, never mind that it's just 1 meal. Both times I found it so overwhelming I left. At least the Royal class ships have a long LONG timeline left: Royal 2013 Regal 2014 Majestic 2017 Sky 2019 Enchanted 2020 Discovery 2021
  8. I've decided that I will stick to Grand & Royal class ships. Fortunately with 2 new ones out during pandemic I should be fine for the foreseeable future. I hate buffets because of the food horders. Can't stomach a piazza replaced by the casino (and I frequent both). Segregated dining .... yeah, not on my Princess (or wherever I choose to go)
  9. Just read the Emerald Princess 12/18/22 -> thread and 3 flavors for each dinner. I'm relieved. I prefer ice cream & sorbets
  10. Recent posted menus from other ships only show chocolate and vanilla on the dinner menu, none of the special flavors. I got off Caribbean Princess 12/18/22. So that would be a fast change. I mean I readily accept that my info from last Enchanted Princess is outdated as I got off that 9/17/22 but changes in 1 week??
  11. Caribbean Princess had 4 options at lunch & 3 options at dinner. Had it 2× day every day
  12. Well isn't this nice!! When I booked my Australia cruise for September 2020 & pay it off, I just rolled it forward. Then I was on Majestic Princess and was changed (redeployment) 3×. Also holding the same price & perks. Wonder what my $29 Specialty Dining Perk will be worth in April 2024 😅🤣😂
  13. What is Is it live bands playing jazz or blues or rock? Or is it recorded oldies (circa 1950s)?
  14. You do you! I will do me! When I see the happiness of giving the crew a more personalized gift, I will continue to do just that! Why does everyone think it’s their way or the highway? I had a pile of Ghirardelli chocolates on the table & told steward he could help himself if he ever wanted to. Day 2 he asked if he could have one & i told him that they were there for him, room service, anyone else who wanted one. Gone by Day 7 of a 10 day cruise. No it wasn't a tip I actually only tipped my waiter (yes, same one Day 3->10) because he often suggested a backup and brought me an alternative if 1st choice had black pepper (allergy). He looked out for me every lunch & dinner so I comped him.
  15. I really REALLY want that offer! Just got back but I'd go again for your prices .... heres my solo pricing:
  16. Disembarked 9/18/22 & a surplus of $34.94 showed up ($25.78 for missing Boston). I got a check for slightly over $200 but I finally tracked down what it was. Previous issue so still due that pittance. But it's mine & I would like it. Any suggestions??
  17. Surprised. They didn't have the cold fruit soup options? Or the fruit / cheese plates?? I struggled to pick between those as I only wanted 1 appetizer
  18. It was the last night. And very good overall
  19. I was only disappointed in 1 MDR dish last 2 cruises. The sauce on the walnut ravioli was a bit thin but the flavor was fine. Mine's thicker at home.
  20. Agree 100% but this was a 10 day cruise & held on day 2. My next cruise is 7 days (I probably won't go) the 2 after that are 15 & 22 days .... mulling over what to do
  21. Just got off a ship last Sunday. Has anyone else experienced this? 17 signed up for Sailaway, most showed up or floated by, it was just us 30 signed up for Meet & Greet, less than 1/3 showed up. Several dept heads came Is this becoming common??
  22. Of course the gratuity doesn't enter the picture as the package covers the cost of the drink and the gratuity is just "included" without being a consideration. If OP has 1 fruity drink a day, 1 latte, gratuities, and wifi then going standard / basic or whatever it's called today is better. Especially if they get comped nonrefundable OBC that cannot be completely used up with excursions / specialty dining / etc. Per day breakdown: Gratuity = 16 (balcony) Internet = 20 single day / 15 if all week Latte = 3.50 + 18% gratuity + tax Fruity drink / beer = 6.50 + 18% gratuity + tax So $60 Princess Plus vs $45 per day against OBC .... getting closer
  23. @ButterflyGirlyseveral frozen mocktails were about $6.50. With rum bump up $3. Well under the $15 limit even with 18% gratuity
  24. I will definitely try it again but we just shared a dinner table (same table / same time / same staff every night) so were able to share msgs there. But my phone normally vibrates when I get a text (even crew call ... just not Shipmates Chat)
