  1. We are on the cruise that ends in Reykjavik that starts 8/6 next summer. If you are on the same one, join our roll call. Norwegian Prima 11-Day Northern Europe from London to Reykjavik August 6, 2023 - August 17, 2023 - Norwegian Prima Roll Calls - Cruise Critic Community
  2. Correct. I was just trying to give some information to any NY residents that they could get their insurance premiums back. I apologize that I muddied the waters (pun intended) about CFAR insurance.
  3. Yes, read about it on some of the individual cruise line boards.
  4. First cruise was for our 25th anniversary. I was in the 50-59 category; DW (not voting) was in the 40-49. And it was 7 days, Barcelona round trip Western Mediterranean. I had initially proposed Bermuda while she countered with Alaska. (We have since done both, and did another Barcelona to Barcelona for our 35th anniversary.)
  5. Yes, we have done the Western Mediterranean (twice) and the Eastern Mediterranean (once), and you cannot go wrong. One advantage to starting in Barcelona over Rome is that the ship actually sails from Barcelona. Rome is not really a port; the ship sails from Civitavecchia.
  6. What it really is is that you can cancel for any reason and get your insurance premium back. No cost for this. Sorry if what I wrote earlier was misleading.
  7. Yes, they were! Too bad no one is going to St. Petersburg on a cruise ship anytime soon or maybe forever. In Scotland we were able to see the Scottish Military Tattoo, and not have to worry about getting back to the ship on time. For Athens, we were there on a Monday which meant the New Acropolis Museum was closed. Another day there would have been great.
  8. We have had 2 overnights. The first was in St. Petersburg, Russia. The second (I forget the specific port name) was for Edinburgh, Scotland. I really wish we had had one in Piraeus, the port for Athens.
  9. You can also get to Nice from that port stop. It was our very first ever port, and still one of the best DIY days we ever had on a cruise. We went to Nice and to both the Matisse and Chagall Museums. Later DW swam in the Mediterranean while I watched our stuff. She sat us by some topless (I assume) French women so I would not be bored. 😊 The second time we were there, we explored Cannes. I agree it is an interesting port.
  10. On our very first cruise, my DW swam at that beach. She loved it, but she said the place she changed into her swimsuit (a bathroom I think) was the most disgusting place she had ever been. 😢
  11. I asked my TA after the InsureMyTrip guy could not answer if any other state had this protection, and he said only NY State. The InsureMyTrip guy actually did not realize NY state did this as when I posted that in addition to my refundable deposit, I received my insurance premium back. He said he had never heard of Travel Guard doing this.
  12. Actually, sometimes the "hotel" stays in the same port, and you have an overnight. And that is also good.
  13. So, if you do not want to call it Norwegian Cruise Line, what would you rename it? 🤣
  14. We really enjoyed Halifax the times we were there, so I hope you are right that the Prima will get you there. 👌 for you.
  15. I realize that there is no proof beyond a reasonable doubt that a cigarette carelessly discarded started the fire on the Star Princess, but has there been any other credible theory as to how it started?
  16. Do you think it is ok for people to smoke (legal or not federally legal substances) on their balcony?
  17. We did the excursion with the Giant Fiddle on a Boston to Montreal cruise on HAL in 2018. It was a wonderful, very enjoyable show. I would recommend it.

  19. I would add Fodors to that list of sources you can explore
  20. Yes, I did read your post. But, I do believe our TA was talking about any monetary problem, not just OBC. And I realize what you wrote about your TA's response, but was implying that instead he should have said he would take care of it for you.
  21. Does not matter if your TA marks it no upgrade. As I said in my post just previous to this, our TA had assured us we would not be moved as he had done everything necessary for that. But Princess can do what they want to do, no upgrade marked or not.
  22. Yes, as I posted earlier (post #37), this is what happened to us (2014 Ocean Princess British Isles cruise.) And I had been reading at the time about Princess just moving passengers and expressed my concern to our TA. He assured me it would not happen to us. Which really shows Princess can do whatever they want according to the cruise contract you sign.
  23. If you have a TA, does he or she know anything on the subject? The reason I say this is we booked a cruise in 2020 that of course never sailed. (We actually cancelled it before Princess did.) We had a refundable deposit and paid for insurance. Our TA mentioned that for NY residents even the insurance was refundable if we cancelled. When we cancelled and got back our insurance, even the guy (I forget his name from InsureMyTrip) did not know about this ruling from the NY State Insurance Commision). I wondered if any other state did this, and he said he would try to find out. He later posted that none of the states insurance commisions would really answer him. I late by e-mail asked my TA, and he said this only applied to NY state. So, really there is nothing to buy. NY has ruled that if you cancel, there was really nothing at risk, so they have insured nothing and must refund the insurance.
