  1. But they always had the option of being vaccinated. That was the point I was trying to make. There were also cc users who posted that they did get vaccinated for the sole reason of being then able to take a cruise.
  2. We once bought OBC on a HAL cruise under the World's Greatest Cruise Line which covered all cruise lines owned by the Carnival Corporation and we got the AMEX credit.
  3. With the caveat, unless they decided to become vaccinated.
  4. Aren't stocks in general, not just cruise stock, going down after several days of going up?
  5. No real need to apologize. And I left out one other port we did a round trip from and needed a passport, Copenhagen.
  6. Yes, it is in the evening. Was the fringe festival also there? It was both times we were in Edinburgh in August, once on a land trip and once on a cruise (which was the time we went to the Tattoo as we had an overnight in Edinburgh).
  7. So, maybe there should be a new thread--Carnival stock over $10.
  8. I guess more people cruise to drink than cruise to muster. LOL
  9. Thanks for sharing. Any comments about Scotland? Were you in Edinburgh, and if so was it during the time of the Military Tattoo?
  10. Woo Hoo! But being over $10 a share is not really some magic place.
  11. Yes, I knew that. But, I did want to clarify that there were cruises that started and ended at the same port that did require passports.
  12. We also have never had a problem on any cruise line having the shareholders' OBC applied to gratuities
  13. That is not true for all closed loop cruises. We have had closed loop cruises that started in Barcelona, Rome, and London (actually Dover). As US citizens we definitely needed passports.
  14. I assume that is a rhetorical question as you know that the bank interest these days is extremely low, even of CDs.
  15. Meanwhile everyone else is complaining about global warming. 😉
  16. Odd that it is just Carnival as they are usually world's greatest cruise company and include all line owned by the Carnival Corporation.
  17. Um, where are the words of experience and wisdom one has come to expect from you?
  18. And how about the highway maintenance department? If they highway was not in reasonable shape, they could not have got to the dock.
  19. Our last completed cruise was in 2018, Boston to Montreal In 2019, we did a land trip instead of a cruise, Peru including Machu Picchu. In 2020, we had a Norwegian fjords cruise out of London (Southampton) booked, but of course it never happened. For a while now we have a cruise booked for August next year as we fell in love with the itinerary, the Norwegian Prima from London (Southampton) to Reykjavik with ports in Amsterdam, Brugge (Belgium), Bergen and then 2 fjord ports in Norway, and finally 3 Iceland ports ending with an overnight in Reykjavik. Our wedding anniversary will fall on a sea day between Norway and Iceland.
  20. Good to hear; glad everything worked out for the best.
  21. Can't you show them you have the required stock holding in your 401K and use that for the credit without buying more stock?
  22. Many TAs give you a due date a week or so before the actual cruise line's due date. If you miss it by a few days, you are still within the cruise line's cancellation cutoff date. And they can then remind you that it is due.
  23. Note Master Card and Visa are pretty much accepted everywhere in Europe. American Express is accepted at many fewer places. I am not sure about Discover Card, but would not be surprised if it is pretty much not accepted.
  24. It is called survival of the fittest. If a virus mutates toward being more deadly, it would kill off its hosts and not survive. What this virus is doing by becoming more contagious but less deadly is exactly what the model says it would do to survive.
  25. I think when our TA said wait to check it out until 6 months prior, he was not only referring to this requirement, but to everything in general.
