  1. I have read some of the replies and had a good laugh and now I wonder why folks with the elevated sense of fear of germs would even consider being on a ship or plane or any other public space.
  2. Looks like you were a little premature in vlogging this seeing that last night Princess cancelled the 18th date and we can't rule out a possible cancellation of the one following that as well. Hope you still get a chance to the second of the back-to-back booking and have a great time.
  3. I've found that if an error is showing in just one of the passengers associated with the same booking, is to log out and sign in with the other person's username (email address ) and their password and fill in the required information. We have sailed on 19 Princess voyages since the medallion and it's app was introduced in 2017 and haven't had a situation with the app that I couldn't solve without complaining. What we did do is try the above or reinstall the information and if that did the trick we sent an email with the solution to Princess. If you are sill having issues with the app then try the web-based version in your Personalizer and enter the information. When this is done it does transport to the mobile app. When all else fails, do as suggested above and arrive at the port with a printout of your travel summary found in the Personalizer and your passport and they will take care of you there. This results in not much more time than found with most other cruise lines.
  4. I haven't bothered to read all the post either because there is always too much guessing and not enough facts. Princess is not to be blamed if Fincantieri has not turned the ship over to them for some reason. The contract was signed with an expectation of an on-time delivery of a completed product and that's what we are living with. It is surely a major disappointment that those that had booked the planned inaugural voyage are facing now. Princess has stepped up with the offers of credits and reimbursements as a matter of doing the right thing to help when it wasn't their fault. Let's hope that the situation is limited to just the loss of the initial voyage and rest of the bookings are still in line for a timely departure......especially our inaugural transatlantic voyage on her in September.
  5. I also tried to use the app on my iPhone and, even though it was easy to use, the problem I found that every opportunity to enter the sailing date failed with the notification that it was an invalid date. Now come on. How hard is it to mess up an entry like 09/23/2024? After many attempts I used my laptop and used the app there and it took the date without a problem, however, it wouldn't allow processing the SHB because the sailing was after July and was told to try again in May. Makes sense since a lot can happen until the sailing but I wonder if they will make me do another current copy of the brokerage statement.
  6. Francisco Patricio is now the Maitre'd on the Enchanted Princess.
  7. Exactly, I figured that out by remembering that in the past even with the Personalizer you could access any booking by logging in with the booking number rather than the username and password. Using the other booking numbers worked but cumbersome because you need to enter you name and birth dates. I hope they will offer a way to show all the upcoming bookings like the old app did.
  8. I spoke with a senior IT manager while we were on the Caribbean Princess over Christmas and asked him if we should go ahead and download the new app and he said to go ahead. We did and I like to the new look and it seems to navigate a little easier. However, I am having a problem trying to see my other future booked voyages and can't figure out how to navigate to them. The upcoming voyage later this month comes up but I can't get to the others. Any suggestions?
  9. To all those that are negative about Princess changing its loyalty program........stay tuned for a major announcement to be made within the month! I understand it will be exciting.
  10. ......and returning to Pier 2 since we are the only Princess ship in that day. See my post above in the actual cruise thread outlining what the other ports we are sailing into will have for other ships - if any.
  11. Never had a problem with using Rum Runners for the last 10 years. They work because they don't look like bottles and they are safe to pack in your checked luggage.
  12. Correct and those menus change from voyage to voyage due to availability of certain items. The only menus you can count on being the same might be the evening meal during the last formal night of the voyage and those that fall on special holidays.
  13. Was Nicola a Club Class Dining Room Manager under Francisco on the Enchanted prior to him moving to the Regal?
  14. Exactly, although I do keep my phone out to use the Medallion App and the ship's intranet.
  15. Thank you! It is a vacation and a time to get away from the everyday life for a brief period.
  16. What did people do before WiFi? We personally don't use the internet that much but do use the ship's intranet for things more important to the actual voyage the we are taking.
  17. We had a fantastic experience when Darko was on the Enchanted Princess. He totally organized a special cabin decoration for our anniversary including multiple towel and blanket art, rose petals and a cake made from towels. He coordinated the suite manager, hotel management and the room steward. I've never seen a person with as much energy as Darko. It is interesting to note that he started with Princess as a crew area toilet area cleaner.........and now a very respected Concierge.
  18. Sure they will if that's what you want to spend your money on. Why not just take a selfie instead.
  19. They will be on the first sea day and a sea day a day or two before the end of the cruise. I've never seen one on the last night for obvious reasons. The Patter or information sheet that is in your cabin when you arrive will let you know what the schedule will be. Additionally, they also take posed photos on other nights where you can wear something not as formal but better than shorts and tee shirts.
  20. We were involved in the initial soft roll out of the medallion and the subsequent issues were very evident in that short voyage. The medallion didn't work in most areas of the ship and it pointed out that there was a rush to implementation without regard to the negative emotional impact it would have. Trying to put in place a system by retrofitting an existing ship and trying to make it work was a possible mistake. In agreement with most of those that hate and refuse to use the app I would offer that the app should have been tested completely first to uncover all the possible issues instead of rushing to market and then putting band-aids on the problem. I still offer that I don't have any issues using the app that I can't resolve myself. As cr8tiv1 has said above, the app does retain the personal information so most of the process using the app are already completed as it should be. As I have said in prior posts I do see the benefit of using the app while onboard for the features it offered. It is also a vehicle for future features that will appeal to many passengers. So, we have four future bookings lined up that were done completely using the app and a wonderful time aboard the Enchanted, Caribbean, Sky and Sun Princess.
  21. One of the reasons that Princess went back to offer the web version of the Personalizer was to ensure that those that refuse to use the app still can board the ship and have a happy beginning to the journey.
  22. Having sailed with Princess almost exclusively during the past 31 years and more than 50 voyages, I do miss the excitement of going to the mailbox and finding the package with the boarding documents and then doing the "Doc Dance". We now get a new way of getting excited when we get the medallion package in the mail before the cruise and that's perfectly fine with us. I find it curious that we have had not one issue with either the medallion or the app that would cause us to make a comment. The medallion is a very effective way to board the ship, do transactions, keep track of those you are traveling with or your children, and a proven safety method of locating passengers and crew during emergencies. The app while on board is a very convenient way to check on daily events, dining menus, send messages to travel partners, finding locations using deck plans and routes to get there, check on your folio, etc. all without walking around with patters and other pages of information and not using the WiFi internet but the intranet provided by the ship at no cost. It is quite possible that those not happy with the medallion and the app are in the very small majority and will not ever change. For them, you can still go on the web site and fill out the Cruise Personalizer and print out the necessary paperwork to present at boarding and get their Cruise Card to access their cabin and other activities. So there is no real reason to keep complaining. Enjoy the ship and the ocean and the experience you are seeking.
  23. Excellent response and one that we live by. There is no sense in going into the path of a major storm that risks everyone on the ship.
  24. Our routine is virtually the same as many on this thread. The only exceptions to the drill is when we don't have checked luggage. If leaving from PE we drive to the port around 10:30 and drop our checked luggage and then park in the Heron Parking Garage if we are leaving from the #2 Dock. Once aboard we go directly to our cabin and unload any carry-on luggage, open the safe and store any valuables, watch the safety video while doing this. Then it's off to the buffet for a quick meal and then it's down to the lower decks to check out what might be new or if there is someone in one of the specialty dining venues we try to make a reservation for later in the voyage. After all that we head back to the cabin to see if our luggage has arrived and if so, we complete to luggage process and go up to the open decks to get ready for the sail away celebration and a libation or two.
  25. We usually don't give it a second thought until there are three in a row that are posed that way. I would think that the photographer took many images with different poses. The person who puts the gallery together might have different shots to choose from and they could mix up the poses to make it a better looking gallery. Just a little more attention to detail might be in order.
